I love motorcycles. But I have a gas car and a EV car and I'm really liking the EV car. So far only home charging. I think it will go 300 on a charge. I really don't plan on going any further. And where we holiday they have good car charging facilities. I still think having a car at all is a huge luxury to me,
This is what happens when the government has absolutely no skin in the game. Do you think these politicians will have these issues? I say no. We are legitimately at least a decade away from any type of real EV practicality for all. On a positive note, Ford will probably soon pay you to take one of the thousands of Mach-E Mustangs they couldn't move last year off their dealers hands, and that was before the hefty govt rebate expired. People just gotta say no to duds.

Just like when cars started to become into fashion over the horse and buggy. It will take time to get enough for more adaptive to EV. Before calling me a “fanboy” or anything like that. I am not for forced mandates on company’s. Letting the market do its own thing at their own time. More choice is a good thing. And there is no way I’m giving up my TJ wrangler or our truck. Will always have a gas vehicle. But having EV for commute or run about is good when gas prices go really high is also a good idea.

Drop the temperature to 20*F and the range AND power drop 70% AND until the battery is about 50*F it CAN'T BE CHARGED without EXPLODING!!! The mythical "range" and costs of "remote" charging, means Amazooms entire FLEET of electric vans are parked at a dealership near Broken Arrow,OK, just outside of Tulsa. My insurance man had a Tesla that cost EIGHT TIMES AS MUCH to charge as gas for his Lexus GX480. He doesn't have it now.

Electric vehicles are a Political Con Job, we had them in the 1800's and back then we thought that was it, then Daimler invented the internal combustion engine, and the EV DIED !!! there were WAY too many issues with EV's, and Now the people who didn't learn from History are learning again. the EV sucks and looses power in heat, and cold, you could charge it to full and wake up the next morning on a hot summer day or a cold winter night to the battery down to 60% , then as you drive the faster you go the more juice you use, and temps also become an issue, the batteries have to be kept at a certain Temp so they have heaters and coolers........GUESS WHAT ? the batter runs those, Lastly the chemicals to make the batteries are very volatile especially near water and even more so with salt water, and they have been know to just burst into flames and no fire dept knows how to put them out, they just contain the fire for HOURS !!
Australia has 400 kilometers between towns in some areas. Range anxiety and extreme high temperature is a recipe for disaster. Imagine places that have lots of snow and freezing temperatures, deadly.

The truth of electric vehicles. I know Tesla can get better mileage out of their system, but the rest just cannot make it. The EV is useful only as a short range commuter vehicle where you can drive under a 100 miles round trip with overnight charging. The truth is the cost to charge it at home will piss you off even more.
Tesla is the only way to go - 350 miles of true range . Thats wht the TESLA MODEL Y is the NUMBER 1 SELLING CAR IN THE WORLD . With more than 15000 charging stations .
That and tax breaks in other countries that double the price of a fuel car. Remember the waterfall malaise era Cutlass and the 1994 Taurus were also once the best selling car in the world. Doesn't mean they were the long-term best...just popular a few years.

Until EV infrastructure is up to par.. Hybrid technology is the way to go if you're primary goal is MPGs. I currently drive a Silverado.. and I'll admit.. I'd like a truck with better MPGs. But I'm not ready to make the change yet. I think in the next 2 years tho.. I'll make the move to downsize to a mid-size truck.
A Tesla would have gotten you 300ish miles and charge in 10 or so mins to get you another 150 or so. Don't blame you for hating that pile, but try a Tesla if you ever dare again. I felt your pain haha.
Don't rent an EV unless it's a Tesla or an EV that can use Tesla chargers. You'll have a much different experience. It is more expensive to use superchargers. Still saves about 50% over gas. Charging @ home is where you get the most bang for your buck with an EV.
lol. Yeah, you get what you pay for with electrics. My buddy gets 500 km out of his super expensive tesla, another gets about 100 km with his volt. They're commuter cars..not meant for road trips....yet. Our city only has 4 or five charge stations, and barely any in between cities. But, if you have one for your 9 to 5, plug in overnight at home and save hundreds on fuel. I think "they're" waiting to see if they catch on enough to build the supporting infrastructure.
Infrastructure not quite ready for mass EV conversion, although there are 100's of 1000's of them out there, I don't know how they do it. Have to plan very carefully before you buy one so you are prepared.

This wasn't Adam's fault. The blame for this covers a lot of ground, starting with the rental company and it goes on from there. It's a car, right? There's a lesson to be learned here. Although electric cars have positives, there's also negatives. No one should rent or buy an electric vehicle without completing prior research on them. A rental company's only goal is to rent their vehicles. Maybe they should ask questions pertaining to a customers prior experience with electric vehicles? Again, Adam did nothing wrong, he just rented a car. As it turned out, the company shouldn't have rented him an electric car. I'm thinking it's not an industry standard to ask questions but they do want happy customers, right? This turned into a Trainwreck that didn't need to happen. IMO
I was watching something the other day where Toyota said they can build 6 hybrids for the same amount of battery mining ⛏️ for 1 electric car .and I was working on a 2019 electric car not long ago that said it's battery health was 60% . You do the math .

battery degradation mileage will go down year after year till you need a $25,000 replace in 10 years. Hybrids are good because you always can drive on the gas motor when charge runs out.

I think an EV would be great for around town if one had a home charger. But I like to take long road trips and don’t need the range anxiety. I’m sure someday the technology and infrastructure will catch up. Plan on a decade.
EV have their place, it's just not any place I have to rely on it. What is so dumb is they will have to charge that vehicle for what, a few hours before it's ready to go again, taking it out of service for a long period of time.
I have an EV and i absolutely love it. I do have a gas powered SUV as well, but rarely use it. The EVs are great, but they do need some getting used to. You have to do a bit more planning. I don’t think rental car companies should rent them, there is a learning curve required to manage the range…

I am by no means as smartest man in the world but a country that doesn't have the infrastructure for electric vehicles does not make me want to buy an electric vehicle. I would do a hybrid before in all electric without the infrastructure. Never made sense to me.
I keep hearing these same stories. Where people are being "forced" into EVs at rental places then having similar stories to yours where the range is half of what's claimed. A coworker had to stop behind a building at like 2am to charge one with his family in the car because the stated "range" was about half of the actual range.
Love my Tesla it the best charging infrastructure and charges fast. I had a Kia ev rental and it was a total POS compared to my Tesla. Evgo chargers are always broke no wonder by 2025 everyone will be using them with the new NACS.

All these guys saying get a Tesla . Been there, never again. Those things are built so cheap it's ridiculous. There is a reason Tesla spends the second highest amount per car on warranty repairs , only Ford spends more per car on warranty repairs .
Sorry to hear that Avis screwed up your reservation. I do have an electric car and an electric motorcycle and love them both, but not for road trips. I have a gas car and several gas bikes for that,
I am by no means as smartest man in the world but a country that doesn't have the infrastructure for electric vehicles does not make me want to buy an electric vehicle. I would do a hybrid before in all electric without the infrastructure. Never made sense to me.

I keep hearing these same stories. Where people are being "forced" into EVs at rental places then having similar stories to yours where the range is half of what's claimed. A coworker had to stop behind a building at like 2am to charge one with his family in the car because the stated "range" was about half of the actual range.

Love my Tesla it the best charging infrastructure and charges fast. I had a Kia ev rental and it was a total POS compared to my Tesla. Evgo chargers are always broke no wonder by 2025 everyone will be using them with the new NACS.

😮Ya any thing electric that i have owned have been garbage batteries only last a shoet time they say 2 and ahalf hours time ,you get that for a little while then hour and a half then goes down from there all garbage!
I wouldn’t give you $10.00 for one of those toy cars.
So don’t use an electric car for long distance. They are best for cities. At least till they get better.
