My biggest complaint with this episode is that you didn't mention the reasons why "most" of the games were cancelled! You know that's the biggest reason why we're here, right? You expect me to find out myself? Fine, this will take alot of editing though. 1: Road Rash 2's Game Gear port never had the m/o behind its cancellation specifically mentioned, but my educated assumption is that Probe Entertainment (who worked on the GG port of the 1st game) were suffering financially at the time & were bought out by Acclaim who turned them into their UK branch. Acclaim most likely tried to finish the port but EA stripped them of the license due to them being disappointed with the presentation & other things. Fearing layoffs, Acclaim sold the source code to Domark who partnered up with Warner Brothers to publish the game. They then pitched the idea to Kawasaki for a Racing Tournament game as some sort of sponsorship deal, which they accepted & hired Lankhor to finish the job Acclaim started. Lankhor then completely finished the code & brand conversion over to Kawasaki & they then released it as K.S.C! 2: Barbie Super Model huh? Well, this 1 is simple enough. It was cancelled due to the poor sales of the handheld & the terrible reception it received on both SNES & SMD. 3: Pac - In - Time is tricky but it's most likely that it was cancelled for the Genesis & Game Gear because Sega refused to license the 2 ports for not meeting their quality standards. Namco also felt that the Sega ports would underperform due to the failure of the Sega Add-ons & the upcoming release of the Sega Saturn. Maybe they were cancelled due to the lackluster sales of the other ports despite being good. 5: Yogi Bear's Gold Rush had its Game Gear port cancelled due to the developers feeling that the handheld system wasn't profitable enough & Nintendo requested the publisher to keep the game Game Boy exclusive. The game performed mediocre both criticality & financially on Game Boy which was basically what killed the GG port. 6: Crazy Faces was cancelled due to the company not affording to release 2 games at the same time. They ended up releasing a Similar game for the Game Boy that same year. 7: Wildsnake's Sega ports were cancelled due to the Nintendo ports not selling well & their critical performance was underwhelming. Also, Sega was culling its portfolio of Genesis & Game Gear releases to make way for the Saturn. As for Alex endorsing the game? The publisher bribed him with $4 Million American Dollars to present the game for Markey value! 8: Sonic's Edusoft was cancelled due to the developers receiving a "cease & desist" letter from Sega for they didn't want Sonic involved with the title. The publisher then just decided to cancel the game rather than reskin it, since it would mean the entire theme would have to change.

Don't think I had any of those as a kid - I had Wonderboy, Wonderboy III, Columns, Sonic, Sonic 2. I forget what else. Think I had Psychic World possibly. But yeah, I didn't have a Master System either.
another great list brother. Its funny cause here in missouri all we had was nintendo. I used to read about master system games and turbo grafx games in EGM, but the market here was mainly nintendo. I used to give my name and number to local game stores if and when a master system or tg-16 would be for sale. Unfortunately, it was not till i was older and ordered them off ebay did i have them.
Thanks, Tom! Yeah, I know that the Master System wasn't big at all over there compared to Nintendo. I never saw a TurboGrafx until I was probably in my late twenties! Love my PC Engine now though. Ah, it's nice catching up now on all the stuff we missed back in the day, I love it. I never had PCE or Saturn but they've turned into two of my favourites.
Nice! Yeah, I have a charger, and that battery pack that is absolutely massive haha. Much better with a mains lead, so you don't have to spend a fortune on batteries.
Yeah, Road Rash II would've been awesome, Ryan! Yogi looks okay, but nothing particularly unique as platformers go, and the Game Gear had a few decent ones.
I'm not entirely sold on that one, it looks a bit samey, and I played a bit of it and I got stuck really early on. I might try out the SNES version on my Everdrive.
Yeah, love both consoles and very much still worth playing. Thankfully batteries are far better now than they were in the early 90s haha. Ah, thanks, that's very kind. Not going to happen though!
A lot of possibly good games. sad that they were never released. But i think that the game gear had a lot of good games. Though not as many as the gameboy.

Master System was NOT more popular than NES in all of Europe. NES stomped Master System here in Scandinavia for example and NES did better in France too.
Another cancelled Master System game was The Godfather. I have a leaflet advertising it, with a screenshot, but thats the last i ever heard of it.
Oh yeah? That's interesting, I've not heard of that one. Based on the film I assume?

another great list brother.
Nice list of games, a few gems in there 👍
Thanks, James!
I still have my Sega Game Gear I used to play Sonic 2 I just found out it the system had a charger for it I never knew that.
Nice! Yeah, I have a charger, and that battery pack that is absolutely massive haha. Much better with a mains lead, so you don't have to spend a fortune on batteries.
Road rash two would have been a cool port. The Yogi game didn’t look half bad either.
Yeah, Road Rash II would've been awesome, Ryan! Yogi looks okay, but nothing particularly unique as platformers go, and the Game Gear had a few decent ones.
Game gear is awesome awesome.
So underrated, and often treated unfairly.
did you just make a video without the titular in it?
Fuck, sorry man. Was obviously having an off day. I have a GBA one coming up so I'll try to slip one in just for you.
onaretrotip cheers bud
That Sonic educational looks absolutely shocking. The sprites are just copied from previous games! [Ben]
Haha I know, right! So lazy.
Pac in time would have been awesome
I'm not entirely sold on that one, it looks a bit samey, and I played a bit of it and I got stuck really early on. I might try out the SNES version on my Everdrive.
Sega Master System still a top system. Game Gear remember only use Duracell, you should get another 75k viewer on this video with easy.
Yeah, love both consoles and very much still worth playing. Thankfully batteries are far better now than they were in the early 90s haha. Ah, thanks, that's very kind. Not going to happen though!
Pacman in water 😂
Haha I know, right.
Give me rode rash 2. Spirou. Dinobasher.
👌
Akira mega drive/genesis ?
What about it?
Giving me life.
:)
A lot of possibly good games. sad that they were never released. But i think that the game gear had a lot of good games. Though not as many as the gameboy.
Yeah, Game Gear had some fantastic games, but the Game Boy's library is just so tough to beat.
Ahh this is doing my head in.... what game is that chip tune you have used on the master system section... i know i owned it as a kid but cant place it....please end my suffering. Many thanks
Edit
Its wonderboy in monster land i think. Am i correct?
Close, it's Wonderboy III: The Dragon's Trap (although certain tunes I believe did also feature in Monster World).

Cool video😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Thanks, John!
Master System was NOT more popular than NES in all of Europe. NES stomped Master System here in Scandinavia for example and NES did better in France too.
Interesting. Still, in Europe as a whole the statement's accurate.
Really???
The canceled Yogi Bear game looks so bland and boring it makes me wanna die
LOL
I always thought Spirou was Tin Tin?
No, I think they're similar because that was the French/Belgian comic style at the time (maybe).
Big nose the caveman had Wonderboy iii dragons trap music!
Hahahaha indeed!

It's not just this video, UA-cam is screwed at the moment. A lot of people can't watch anything tonight.
Fortunately, all of them are uninteresting :)
I'd disagree there, there are a couple that look okay. Nothing mind-blowing though.
