I used to make tree stands with the same rope technique 40 years ago. One inch hemp rope worked like a charm. Heavy, but rock solid and quiet. Good luck this fall. Thanks for sharing 🦌
I like this idea a lot. I get it, I am afraid of heights as well, but I have this thing where I purposely put myself in situations that force me to face my fears. Remember that courage is not the absence of fear, but rather being afraid and pressing on anyways. Regardless of any of that, great video, I hope you kill a ton of game using this rig.
I like it. Given I am larger than you by at least 40 pounds, I may want a beefed up seat cushion with thicker padding but overall it is a good looking contraption. Thanks for sharing it.
Nicely done. There are a lot of trees with smoother bark where I hunt and I have found that a flat strap holds to the tree better than round rope. I have been using a Torges style tree seat for nearly 30yrs and I love them. I have a short video on my YT channel showing some different materials I’ve tried over the years. You got me thinking I need to make a new one. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
I made one of those last year and used it during late season when it was cold. Worked great. I like the idea of the shoulder strap pad for carrying in.
Take a look at the Ground Effect Hunting Seat by 03 Outfitters. In my opinion, and in the opinions of many other ground hunters, it's the best portable hunting seat out there today. It's very lightweight, but very sturdy, and it makes absolutely no noise, (not even a squeak), even in the coldest of conditions. I've used a lot of hunting seats over my 50 plus years of hunting, and this one stands out by far as the best that I've ever used. It's also made in the USA by two former Marine Corps veterans, which is another plus. Happy Hunting!!! P.S. The Ground Effect Hunting Seat was reviewed on UA-cam by N1 Outdoors, and by Sean's Outdoor Adventures. Check those out too.
Screw the game wardens I'm so far out they ain't out there nobody goes where I go bc I go where nobody goes 💯 but best believe I got my doobies rolled up ready to go
I have found that using a strap instead of rope will give you better grip on all tree types.(Holly, pine, anything that has smoother bark will make the rope roll down the tree.) I have used strap from a 15 foot ratchet strap successfully.
Mine is made from the bottom of an aluminum climbing tree stand. It is larger than yours, but it is workable. I did find some mods I can make to mine from your design. Thank you for sharing.
I tell you what if we tweak that and make a seat from a lightweight carbon fiber we could market that out for sure that’s a solid and simple tree seat idea
Nice seat but get rid of the scented candle you use for "scent control". It is a foreign scent to deer and deer will likely avoid it. Wind is more important.
I know this has its use but just get a good quality chair that is comfortable and a good leaf camo suit and you will be surprised at it versatilely . Uneven ground foot it out where the leg goes
Hillsides require sitting facing downhill or uphill and for a bowhunter that position doesn't always offer the proper shot angle. The tree seat is far superior. Chair legs do fine on flat ground without rocks. Impossible in the Ozark Mountains.
Hey Tradlore, I've built three versions of the the Torges seat. One is by Quachitamac which is a bit complicated to figure out, however, I did. I also designed two versions myself. I put a radius at the tree end whereas you have a V cut. I like the three models but want to add your version. Would you be willing to trace yours on a piece of paper and send me the templet? If so, contact me and we'll work it out. I think the V might bite against the tree better. Best wishes!
Candle seems like a bad idea but I will say alot of absolute giant slayers I know smoke cigars or cigarettes in the the woods and don't hardly ever get winded the smoke smell is natural to them

I like it. Simple and easy, cheap. Most of that stuff is just lying around anyone’s garage

I have seen versions of this seat on YT. I like yours the best so far great video.
I’ve also been using a Dean Torges Tree Seat. I made mine knotless and infinitely adjustable by drilling three holes on one side

Clanky metal and the hooks are too heavy.
Smoke a blunt lmaoo and the candle to cover the scent for game wardens lurking nearby 😂

I love this i m going to make one that will slot into my pack behind me back harness. Thank you for showing this.

We? Does he have a mouse in his pocket?😂
Nicely done! What a great idea
Nice to see people can still think outside the box.
Make a video on your sent control. Never knew you could use candles and smoke cigars to mask your sent
It was a joke, I hope you caught that
Nice job. I’m going to try it thanks
Great idea thanks for the info. 👍🦌
great idea, could you post some dimensions and location of the cord holes. I'm going to try and make one.

The candle and cigar nipper was a joke😂
I like this a lot! Thanks for sharing. I’m going to make one for deer season and it’ll make a great duck hunting seat

Just use top half of a climber works great
That is heavier until you use a hand climber top
A candle and a cigar?? For scent CONTROL?? Oh my god. Is this for real???
Candle seems like a bad idea but I will say alot of absolute giant slayers I know smoke cigars or cigarettes in the the woods and don't hardly ever get winded the smoke smell is natural to them
Your not cheap you just know what you want 😅
Neat
The only problem with the tree seat is that you need a tree. If you have a great spot with no tree then you’re stuck…
Kinda like a tree stand?
Yep. Every setup will have its limitations. You decide which to use based on your situation
Chair blind, $100
Then use the seat and sit on the ground. Nice cheap padded seat.
Summit climber open face .... just the seat part ...look at it be easier then that
Yeah but the cost of his can't be beat.
