I, for one, appreciate the explanation as to why it is a turn 38 victory as I do not fully understand the mechanics of the game in any way. All I knew was the turn counter said "39" and you had to click "next turn" to get the victory scene, which did not look like a turn "38" victory to me at all. So I ended up a little confused and feeling lied to until I saw this.
Using mods like that isn’t really cheating. the point of this challenge is just to show that IF you get a god tier start, then this type of victory is possible. You’re just using the mod to give you the start instead of getting it by RNG. But the start is the same regardless of if you use the mod or not.
There's stil a difference tho. If it was a mode like "choose the order you unlock heroes" there wouldn't be a problem, but forcefully unlock them turn one in my opinion is questionable because it creates not just rare, but impossible scenarious.

To add to the Gilgamesh knowledge, if he is in any state but denouncing you he will take a friendship. I have been at war with him, made peace, and declared friendship on the same turn. I'd like corroboration to see if this is true, but I am pretty confident.
I have done this, but I’ve had games where I forget to re-up our friendship and he wouldn’t take it. This was several patches ago, so it may not be that way anymore, but I was very sad I lost my bro.

I referenced a Person playing it out to help me with the First couple of Turns, then Ai Behavior differed so I went into doing Better and Worst at times with the Person. One thing to note: the Last City you capture WON'T give you the 5 extra points for owning it{because the game ends}; so, you are going to need to settle enough cities for the Points before taking the last city. reliquaries are broken when you use them with heroes and legends, plus rome + voidsingers really helps with that, otherwise there is literally no reason to take that belief by the way this gameplay was so insane,that it made me turn the game modes on back again after playing vanilla for months
Jadwiga and Nzinga Mbande say hi to the "literally no reason" lol, and I'd add Kristina with her auto-themed relics as someone who at least CAN make that belief work. But yeah, it's very much a niche play and one that just happens to stack with other situational bonuses for potential wombo combos like this one.

I had an idea when you brought up buying a square using gold/turn and I thought why isn’t there a civ that does it yet and I realized there might be a good spot for it. Thomas Jefferson: America. Either call it something like “the negotiator” or “Louisiana purchase”. Can purchase land with gold/turn the price is always split amongst 10 turns so if a lane costs 75 gold it is 8 gold per turn then 3 gold on last turn. Also gain +3 diplo favor for every 5 population in your capitol. Let me know if you think this is too weak or strong idk never done it before but would be interesting since Lincoln is a military civ and Roosevelt is a culture civ so having a diplo/currency civ for America is an empty spot.

Even though I have near 1.5K hours in the game, I have a basic game mechanic question for people as I have never bothered to test it. Boes says Religious Settlements is the best pantheon in the game since it gives you a free settler. Is the settler actually completely free or does the cost of your next settler increase like you built it? Just curious mostly and never really bothered to test it to see myself, so I was wondering if anyone just knew.
Yes it increases Cost; but, it Doesn't Take a pop for your City, you save time from Not building that Settler, Your Boarders expand a little faster to gain tiles without needing to buy them, and You get extra Era Score from getting the First Pantheon in the Game. It helps you get so much more Momentum then you would of had normally
I for one welcome challenge modding. It’s better to have a fair set-up for your game plan than to bet on luck at the risk of “cheating in the background”. This sets the record straight and lets others also attempt the same challenge instead of saying “oops unlucky better reroll”

Could this technically be slightly faster with Kristina? If you could build your monument/Old God straight after Himiko you could pretty much immediately theme it with three relics (after deleting Himiko) to get a far better tourism base. Not sure if it'd be worth the extra production you need to waste on the monument, but it's at least an interesting idea and a workable alternative way to do this.

We play PC -because- we have these options, and don't have to rely on reloading a game entirely to suit our needs. 10/10, never reroll a thing again. Could you please do a civ blitz cultural victory challenge with Kristina Leading Kongo with the Acropolis in the heroes mode with a similar relic strategy? I've played that before and apparently you can auto theme relics and stack that with reliquires and Kongo's relic bonuses. It's extremely satisfying I highly recommend you try it. If you're going to reroll starts, just using a mod is the same thing. Like, there's playing random games and that's one thing. Then there is trying to optimize a specific start. One isn't better/worse/cheating, they are simply different.
8:20 Yes, I might have been very misleading in how I worded that. You said it perfectly, Gilgabro is a guarantee. Any time I've had that it's either been a neutral (Very rare for that) or green happy face which literally means they like you, lol. Gilgabro is the only person that it works 100% of the time no matter the face! (Not sure if you can friend him if he's denounced you, but I assume no.)
I bet the people saying they can friend other civs on turn 1: aren't playing on deity, on standard speed, or have some mod enabled that they didn't even realize.
Ehy boes, Need to ask you why didn't use himiko charge to gain more faith, so you can faith buy your prophet instead of chop by devotion, 5 charge should mean 500 faith , I mean should be enough to faith buy first prophet don't you? You are correct you cannot manually place them there. There's some interaction where it thinks that it's a relic slot when you gain a relic, so it forces it into the Old God Obelisk slots. I'm sure it's not intended but it's never been fixed since it was introduced

I did a Rome RP Meme Run: 1. Salt Carthage (Dido), 2. Kill all Barbarians + Gaul 3. Build Phat Coliseum. Didn't win until turn 387 but it was fun

It is probably more accurate to say "exploiting" which I see as an intelligent use of available game mechanics to achieve a goal.

That PC master race flex is the essence of what it means to play on a PC. We play PC -because- we have these options, and don't have to rely on reloading a game entirely to suit our needs. 10/10, never reroll a thing again. We need to have a creative mod that allows us to just custom tailor a game start to see exactly how far this can be pushed tbh.

Could you please do a civ blitz cultural victory challenge with Kristina Leading Kongo with the Acropolis in the heroes mode with a similar relic strategy? I've played that before and apparently you can auto theme relics and stack that with reliquires and Kongo's relic bonuses. It's extremely satisfying I highly recommend you try it. If you're going to reroll starts, just using a mod is the same thing. Like, there's playing random games and that's one thing. Then there is trying to optimize a specific start. One isn't better/worse/cheating, they are simply different.

Any time I've had that it's either been a neutral (Very rare for that) or green happy face which literally means they like you, lol. Gilgabro is the only person that it works 100% of the time no matter the face! (Not sure if you can friend him if he's denounced you, but I assume no.)

When you reach 100k do deity++ with so scaling mod but you get a dave and have to use him only to get military victory
Ehy boes, Need to ask you why didn't use himiko charge to gain more faith, so you can faith buy your prophet instead of chop by devotion, 5 charge should mean 500 faith , I mean should be enough to faith buy first prophet don't you? Optimizing by this, I think you can shave 2 to 3 turns.. Anyway, this is WILD, I mean if this is not broken, don't know what it is 🤣🤣🤣

Okay, now i really need an explonation, why relics placed on heroic relics slot? Because you cannot place relics there manually right? I had that also but i think it shouldnt be that way
You are correct you cannot manually place them there. There's some interaction where it thinks that it's a relic slot when you gain a relic, so it forces it into the Old God Obelisk slots. I'm sure it's not intended but it's never been fixed since it was introduced
