  • Banh Chuoi Hap (Steamed Banana Cake - Bánh Chuối Hấp) is one of my favourite Vietnamese dessert. This recipe is fairly easy to do and packed with so many layers of textures. If you're looking for a fun alternative to your traditional banana cake, try this steamed version - I guarantee you'll be surprised! Not too sweet, yet chewy and fun to bite into, the banh chuoi hap is sure to impress at your next pot luck.
Banh Chuoi Hap Recipe Ingredients :
    The cake
    - 4 big bananas
    - Brown sugar - 2.5 tablespoons
    - Salt - pinch
    - Boiling water - 210ml (or a little bit less than a cup)
    - Tapioca starch - ⅔ cup
    - Food colouring - 1 drop
    The coconut sauce
    - Coconut milk - full can (400 ml)
    - water - half a cup
    - salt - pinch
    - tapioca pearls - 1.5 teaspoon
    - tapioca starch - 1 tablespoon
    - sesame seeds to tasting

The cake was chewy, but the bananas were mushy! Have you ever tried this type of banana cake?

Where in Cork can I get tapioca pearls, tapioca starch ?

    • @mtlfoodsnob
      @mtlfoodsnob  3 роки тому

Hello! Are you referring to Cork, Ireland? Most asian supermarkets will have tapioca starch/pearls. Maybe try Jia Jia Market or Cork Oriental Supermarket? Hope this helps
