    if only i owned a house...hard to woodwork when you live in a rental duplex. I do it but wouldn't put a lathe in it lol...landlord mad cause i turned the kitchen into a work shop with all my tools. The experience i have with a conventional lathe and Bridgeport Mill... i graduated from Machining school..."CNC operator" ;) Thank you Leah! love your videos

      When I used to rent I would always fix stuff round the place. That was mostly because it either took forever for them to address any problems or it wouldn't happen at all. Of course, the landlords never objected and were always delighted. I bet if you did that your landlord wouldn't be quite so upset about a few tools around the place.

      You may want to see if there is a workshop around you that lets you join and use their tools. Kind of like a gym membership concept bit for wood and metal working.

    How pretty! I know the description read bottle opener, but the wood reminded me of those draft beer tap handles. Great job!

    Great job, Leah. That handle is beautiful! Thanks for sharing this with us. Out of all of the tools, I think a wood lathe would be the most fun to have and use. (Although I can certainly see the benefit of owning that tool called a knuckle bender. I think I might get my way a lot more often if I let people know that I carried a tool called a knuckle bender around with me at all times.) I hope you're having a good week.

    LOVING your work Leah - keep it up ! Since we spoke last I've even changed over a dimmer switch ! The thing I've learnt from this is the near (non contact) voltage detectors aren't very accurate and I need to invest in a proper multimeter - but I also need to learn how to use a multimeter ! :) Hope all is well with you !

      @seejanedrill  6 років тому +1

      Fab ! I will stay tuned - thank you for all the valuable continued information in your videos ! Just as a FYI, but I found that some companies do an attachment which you can use on a normal drill/screwdriver which gives it an impact capability - e.g. Wera make one called the Impaktor - I need to do some more research as to whether you use them in screwdriver or drill mode, but sounds like a money saver as you don't have to buy a separate impact driver. Hope this helps !

    That is a neat looking can opener you made from scratch, and when I saw the beer you opened I thought of the Olympic brand of beer, and the many times I traveled to their brewery on tours. I love the Northwest area so much, and spent plenty of time there at McChord AFB where I worked at on temporary duty, and just visiting most of the time.

    Lovely piece! Decades ago, I made a lamp by gluing strips of maple and walnut. I wish there were more people who owned tools like you demonstrate and were willing to host 4H woodworking clubs. BTW, have you looked at the Zack-Rabbit coming out in January? It is an upgrade on the jack-Rabbit, originally invented by Brian Giffin.
