They started showing up in my searches for home repairs here in the last year or so, and out of all the other information floating around the internet, your videos have been the most encouraging for me with the easiest to follow instructions that work. Great video. I've seen people make adjustments and never understood. The tool most of the people I watched used was a wrench. They managed not to deform the barrel, or at least when I was watching. Some metals are thinner and the right tool probably would be the best choice in these days. Thanks useful info.

I have only seen a few of your videos, but they have all been spot-on! Everything you have said and shown here is absolutely correct -- but, just like about everything else in carpentry, there are different ways to do the same thing.
I've (long retired now) used this same method on, probably, a couple of thousand doors. However I always used an adjustable crescent wrench (had to be a larger one, like a 12")
and did it with the pointy end towards the door and the round side towards where I wanted to roll the hinge. Worked most of the time. When it didn't I would then remove the casing leg (very carefully) and then have enough room to "roll" the hinge further. A matter of time
if you're paid by the job and not by the hour....of course, if it is Your Door, then you'd have to be the "painter" who would have to re-detail the molding and your way could both be longer and shorter, time-wise, until completion of the repair.
I am constantly amazed at the different tools now available (versus 20 years ago), but haven't forgotten that the most important tool any craftsman has is "his/her brain"! Well, you've certainly got it kid. Shown me some very good techniques.
    Thanks

I really enjoy your posts they are very down to earth and well done. You don't assume that your viewers know anything and go step by step, Thanks. So I bought the tool and I am waiting for it to arrive. I think in my case that I will have to shim the hinges as well as adjust them. The door I am fixing is also too far away from the strike plate as well as the sagging. The lock side weatherstipping just barely touches the door edge on the bottom third of the door! This house was built in 2012 so slapdash workmanship is probably the root cause as I have seen no evidence of settling elsewhere. So I'll use this tool to correct the vertical sag and then shim all the hinges to move door closer to strike plate. Once again, thanks for the great videos!!

As always, a very informative and instructional video. I had the same problem with a door and found the cause of the sag was short hinge screws at the top hinge. I bought some long hinge screw and replaced the old and the door is now aligned perfectly. This is another thing that should be checked before bending the hinges. If the short hinge screws are not snugging the hinge to the jam and door, a hinge adjustment would just be a temporary fix.
