Pterrordon12 there's a cool Spotify playlist I've been following for a while that has a ton of retro 80s synth music in it. A lot of it has its roots in Carpenter soundtracks: play.spotify.com/user/1213866633/playlist/6aQpDzlGkoI9VIqRepZSZy?play=true&.spotify.com&
Jimmy Wiernickers I don't know, none of these Retrowave albums, albeit cool in their own regard, come close to the cinematic and kinetic energy of Lost Themes. I would even argue that the ones I listened to (Perturbator, Mitch Murder, Lost Years, LaserHawk, Disastepeace, ...) are not nearly catchy as Lost Themes. I was also left somewhat unimpressed by Disasterpeace's work on It Follows. I think that soundtrack is getting way too much attention in the midst of Lost Themes, which sadly seems to be slipping under the radar of a wider audience.
One of the most refreshing things to see is a director from a certain period make a comeback but do something differently, I'd say John Carpenter is pretty much done with film making and he has kind of retired into the area of music composing more so than we he did it for films like Halloween & Escape from New York. This style of music is definitely a throwback to the 80's style of films with it's dark and grimy atmosphere, it's wonderfully done.
He’s only done film making because it’s all about virtue signaling and diversity now not actual talent. The so called powers that be only care about creating a division between the races and causing the downfall of all western society because they have used everything they wanted from us and now they are watching the table set itself for the final curtain, the end.
This is one of the coolest fucking things I've ever seen. Three of my favorite things in one video" John Carpenter the man, John Carpenter's music and virtual reality.
The master of dark 80's synths is back. We need this kind of music in action movies again. Escape From New York was one of the greatest action movies ever made.
I love how Carpenters music has futuristic synth sounds while still keeping a wild west feel to the music. This has both a modern feel and a gunslinger feel to it, love it! This would have fit very well in Vampires or Ghosts Of Mars.
John and his son did this record together. I love the modern but classic John Carpenter sound it's got. Amazed. I met John last October and I got him to sign this vinyl. Very friendly guy.
Speaking of Gibson - have you guys read "The peripheral" yet? This video feels like a companion piece, or maybe I'm just warped by years of cyberpunk exposure.
I'd love a 90 minute movie of this dude driving around in a charger stirring up shit. The photography is beautiful and cool. That's why I love John Carpenter. Photography and music through character.
This should be made into a movie. Somewhere I still believe Carpenter has the goods to deliver. Also, his music is still revolutionary, some of today's artists (yes, Kavinsky and consorts) wouldn't be anything without Carpenter's or Tangerine Dream's genius.
Damn, John Carpenter would've been great doing the soundtrack to the movie "Drive". That movie already had a great soundtrack, but JC would've nailed it as well.
Kilian Nachname An article talking about unexpected post-fame careers. I'm actually angry that I only learned of John Carpenter's music through a comedy-news site rather than, you know, UA-cam suggestions / pop culture in general. John Carpenter making badass music doesn't get a mention when Kim Kardashian does? Not cool. Cracked is a website decidedly from the "uncool camp" and yet half my favorite musicians were something I only learned about through their articles ... that's indicative of a problem on the part of UA-cam's promotion system.
True, UA-cam used to show you so much cool new stuff in their suggestions. Nowadays it's just videos you might like... in my case it's videos i have already watched multiple times and also saved in my playlists... Cracked is pretty awesome though, most of the time :)
john carpenter, you made my childhood watching your films and kick A##! OST's. My old man made an exception to The R rated rule when it came to your films and looking back i'm so grateful.
Big John is the Man not only in movies but in music. This man is a genius so underrated in his own country. My little tribute to this great songFilmaker/composer if you have 3 minutes to spare : ua-cam.com/video/B1Br69iC8gw/v-deo.html

John Carpenter's the whole package; writer, director, producer and musician. Legend.
agreed. very few filmmakers have his range of talent and expertise. an underrated film legend and a true icon of american cinema.
Occasionally actor as well, not to be overlooked! He did an amazing job in "Body Bags" as the Coroner
Carpenter created a whole genre that people cannot get enough of.
BACURAU brought me here. Amazing film!
Bacurau. Best movie of 2019!
you mean joker????
@@MrAudriem both

@@MrAudriem you mean parasite. The movie that one best picture.
Carpenter, I'm really feelin this. The world needs more music that lives in the future of the past.
Pterrordon12 You should check out the music of Mitch Murder, Powerglove and many others like them then...
Steven Fox Perturbator.
Pterrordon12 NEONVICE has it all. Check out the site. We recently interviewed Cody Carpenter in who in fact worked on the album.

Generic Mapping it got delayed to next year due to covid, yeah I’m mad too

@@Nonayabizness360 lol wtf are you on about
This song was amazing in Bacurau
John carpenter is a boss. I will love to meet him
I'm sure I won't be the only on to think/say this, but I like to think this is how John Carpenter spends his time in real life.
Savoy1984
John has always talked fondly of his love for videogames, i wouldn't be surprised if he actually has a VR headset.
Savoy1984 I knew we had more in common than just the love for low budget cult movies and cool dark soundtracks but videogames ! I'm shocked.
I think he has nothing else to do since I made him killing off the Mark Yarnell MLM legends character he was playing all these years.
hahahahahaa i am dying
Actually John just smokes a lot of weed and watches NBA
This is one of the coolest fucking things I've ever seen. Three of my favorite things in one video" John Carpenter the man, John Carpenter's music and virtual reality.
Please make a new movie, John!
And score it too.
Welcome back, John. We missed you.
The cinematography in this video is awesome. The night view of Los Angeles is so beautiful.
The master of dark 80's synths is back. We need this kind of music in action movies again. Escape From New York was one of the greatest action movies ever made.
Carpenter is my favorite director of all time. And his scores are always incredible, so great that he made this album.
Can not put in to words how awesome it was growing up with this guys style of movies and music!!
this just feels straight up 80s early 90s and I love it
A great music video, for one of the greatest film directors of all time.
This is what it looks like when you use your money wisely, great track and an awesome video!!
I really hope John will direct at least one more movie, he's such a talented filmmaker.
The two guys who made the music for Stranger Things owe John Carpenter a LOT.
This is pure gold
Unbelievable... John Carpenter Music Still so Powerfull and so amazing!
I already Want Lost tunes II
Very drive-esque video. Great!
This is what cool cheap SF movies sounded like in the 1970s and 1980s. I love it!
***** and there is 100 million budget movies that looks cheap too !
Amazing, the Master is back.
I have always needed to know what happened next!
I love how Carpenters music has futuristic synth sounds while still keeping a wild west feel to the music. This has both a modern feel and a gunslinger feel to it, love it! This would have fit very well in Vampires or Ghosts Of Mars.
I like how every cut in this is made with great intention. The possibilities for every motif in the instrumental were all milked well.
The fact that Carpenter is in the video makes it 100 times more cooler.
I still love his style and sound, I'm glad he hasn't changed much.
John and his son did this record together. I love the modern but classic John Carpenter sound it's got. Amazed. I met John last October and I got him to sign this vinyl. Very friendly guy.
Big John. The best. The MASTER.
Thank you, Big John, and thank you, Gavin and Ben, for such awesomness.
The Master. This still sounds like it should be the theme in a killer Sci-Fi/Mystery/Horror/Thriller Carpenter movie.
Haha, JC is one of a kind. I love it. I love him.
The gorgeous shots of the city convey a feeling of loneliness in a perfect way.
this music makes feelings to me like a false in the past which never be solved and in virtual reality we can solve it and rest our soul.
i always come back to this regularly . love it. reminds me of night riding out on my own on my bike..
Hey me too !
If only John Carpenter adapt Neuromancer or any of William Gibson's novels into his movies.
oh Yes! that would be the movie of the decade...for many decades!
Meh, Vernor Vinge is better.
John Carpenter directing Neuromancer would be fucking brilliant.
Carpenter directing Neuromancer would be like dream come true for me.

Dammit, Bacurau OST really snapped uh
Just stumbled upon this. Probably my favorite genre of music. Long live the 80's.
Happy 75th Birthday John Carpenter!
This song is really making me think of a darker and sinister Big trouble in little China...)))Am I the only one feeling this?))
That and a little bit of Escape From New York too.

True))
Excellent stuff, Man I wish John would make another movie that's written by him.
Very vangelis / jarre! Love it!
Carpenter is a god. Oh how much I would like to go to a live concert !!
I did and it was spectacular!
* Healthy envy *

His Synth's are so amazing... Really glad to hear new tracks...
I hate it when it ends
The part at 2:32 has a Bavarian, South Tyrolian (german or austrian) vibe, love it.
I was mesmerized by this! John Carpenter: Still cool!
THANK YOU CRACKED for alerting me to awesomeness in the world.
Yeah boii
Now I got the image of Darth Vader (as dubbed by Auralnauts) screaming "YEEAAAAA ... BOOOIIIIII!!!!!".

Inspiring music and video! Great comeback of visionary filmmaker and talented, musician with feeling for a distinct sound, John Carpenter.

Sin lugar a dudas john carpenter es un maestro. Cada vez que lo escucho vuelvo a los 80S.🌃🎶
I would love to see him make one more film. An Escape 3 perhaps?
He's said a few years ago he'd like to work with Kurt Russell again, so hell yeah!

Certainly some brilliant stuff by JC, rings true to all his horror anthems.

Just like 'True Survivor' it was released on my birthday, oh what a day it was! :)
Truly a masterpiece along side “Abduction at Airport”
Nothing more to say, brilliant, as usual.
