      Horror movies just wouldnt be the same without him, carpenter was so much of an influence throughout his career and he still managed to create some of the best horror movies ever with banging soundtracks (i.e. The Thing or Halloween)

    Hell yeah, The King is still kicking. I love this guy.
    Anyone who likes this stuff should not only listen to the Sorcerer soundtrack, but see the film too. It's not quite like a Carpenter flick (for one thing it was ridiculously expensive), but it has some of the same vibes going on, the same tense feel and the simplicity of individual scenes. And a badass synth score!

    Would love to hear this music in a sequel to Escape From LA. Escape From Earth would be epic. Kurt Russell as an older Snake would be killer.

    • @KronnangDunn
      @KronnangDunn 9 років тому +8

      +SHOCKER I always thought that instead of Ghosts form Mars that film should have been called ESCAPE from Mars and instead of Ice Cube/Desolation Williams it should have been Kurt Russell/Snake Plissken. Perhaps in an alternate reality there is such a film...

    • @shockerrocker1
      @shockerrocker1 9 років тому +7

      That's an awesome idea having Snake on Mars. Damn I wish that would of happened. I hear Escape is getting a remake, I would rather see Kurt Russell reprise the role. Hollywood is depressing these days everything is a knock off or a remake.

    Reminds me of Com Truise, but I should say that Com Truise reminds me of John Carpenter soundtrack music from the 80's. Carpenter had a big impact on the film industry in so many ways. He's the most creative and inventive director of his time, in my opinion. He could do what Speilberg did with a 1/4 of the budget.

    John Carpenter sais vraiment tout faire.On ne prend pas encore en compte l'étendue de son génie rare.Pas aidé pour produire ses films sauf pour les films de commande il réalise compose dirige tout en restant loin de la machine hollywoodienne.Ce grand homme sait aussi faire preuve d'esprit critique vis a vis de son travail;de son oeuvre.faudra t'il attendre qui parte pour enfin admettre et accepter le fait qu'il fait parti de ceux qui auront marqué une certaine ère culturelle importante et intemporelle.Merci monsieur Carpenter pour avoir fait de moi un cinéphile mordu.

    Le poids des années ne pèse en rien sur le maitre. Ses compositions d'aujourd'hui sonnent comme celles d'il y à 20 ou 30 ans, et pourtant, elle n'ont jamais été aussi contemporaines. En fait c'est ca un génie, toujours en avance sur son temps....

      boudier jean-philippe Dans les années 80, il ne fallait surtout pas dire qu'on aimait la musique électronique au cinéma. Pendant ce temps, des gens comme Ridley Scott, Michael Mann, Kathryn Bigelow ou Andreï Kontchalovski bossaient avec Tangerine Dream : les chiens aboient, la caravane passe ; de nos jours, Carpenter est intouchable et TD co-réalise le score de "GTA V" (une sorte d'aboutissement vis-à-vis de l'ambiance du cinéma de l'époque).
