We are Wexford - The People 💜💛

- Here is my ‘We Are Wexford’ poem brought to life by 60 people from throughout County Wexford. Filmed on peoples phones between May and July 2020, this film was commissioned by the Arts Council in May as part of their ‘COVID-19 Crisis Response Award’. Due to the lockdown, people worked remotely and picked a line of the poem and recorded it on their phones and sent it to me. Of the 400 videos received, these were the 60 videos chosen. So, if you have 3 minutes to spare, please sit down and watch this.

My Murphy ancestors are of Wexford. My great grandfather Patrick Murphy was a boatman there until coming to America in the late 1870s, after marrying Mary Lacy. Would love to visit someday.
Love this! My great grandparents and their parents are from Marshaltown CO Wexford! 🇮🇪☘️
So proud to say that my family immigrated from Wexford. Just visited - lovely place and people 🇮🇪
Emigrated*
A magnificent Irish County where where me mate , Noel and I spent one glorious summer, GET THIS, in the summer of 1976. Spent a couple of days in Wexford then travelled over to Ballyhack and Arthurstown. The people there were absolutely wonderful. We were treated like kings. Noel's nan was originally from Arthurstown and his mum went to school there, during the war. A few of the men in Ballyhack, brought us to Cork to see the ALL IRELAND HURLING Semi-Final between Wexford and Galway. We had a grand time, especially since the lads in Purple and Gold won the match. The train ride back was quite the party. I think the drink had something to do with that. LOL. Having family from back home, we knew all the songs. The lads were astounded that Noel and I, 2 lads from Canada, would actually start a few of the tunes. We had to tell them that our families were originally from this area. It's been so long since I was there. I'd love to go back and hopefully one day, visit there with me wife. My wife is from Liverpool, the unofficial capitol of Ireland, LOL. Her roots are Irish as well. Anyway, a grand video and ta for this great video.
i live right down by there, lovely people

My father said our ancestors came from Wexford. Great video, makes me want to visit. Greetings from Australia. 👍 😀
I love the Irish. What a history and a resilient spirit
Good to see Christy Doyle on this. He is a fine poet in his own right
This was beautiful! My grandfathers family was from New Ross. Though me and my father were born outside of Ireland we still feel great affinity to the nation and Wexford particularly. It’s in our blood and most of all our hearts.

County Wexford,
The homeland of my great great grandfather Thomas Murphy ☘️
Wow this is beautiful, thank you! Got the chills with the Boolavogue at the end. As one descended from but has yet to visit, much love from the states!
I was watching videos about the wexford accent and realized this was your channel. My parents are both from the Cape Shore, Newfoundland and the Wexford accent sounds so familiar to me.
Watching from Atlantic Canada. Lovely video and poem!

Interesting accents you Newfoundlanders....or 'Newfies' as y'are allegedly known as?
@@maideegirl189 lots of Newfoundlanders do not like "Newfie" as it was initially intended to be somewhat derogatory. Touchy subject at times.

Mighty!
I enjoyed that Michael. I've watched a few other ones that you made, people telling of things from the past, children talking about the banshee etc. John Burns , Loughgiel , Co. Antrim. ( Friend of Bernice )
Beautiful Irish people
I was born in wexford, beautiful place 😊
My family came from Wexford in 1836. They migrated to America. My children are 6th generation Americans!!
Great
Cork is also amazing
The Corkonian pride appears to have diminished in recent times, somewhat.
As all kindsa people are coming in.

Maith thu, Michael. Well done, yerself
outstanding.
The Mooney man said he was from Newfoundland, but Irish he is.
No He is from Branch in Newfoundland.
@@michaelfortunefolklore Yes :)
I meant he is "Irish" despite being from Newfoundland, and not Ireland. Newfoundlanders feel connected to Ireland, being "Irish," even if we aren't from there...you know what i mean. :)
0.38 she sounds more Foxrock and less New Ross
Many blow-ins 😎
Auto captions are confused by the Wexford accent.
