Have any of you actually been in street fights? I have been in street fights long before I started JJ. If you cannot get away in a street fight you need to keep your attacker at a distance or strike first. That is the why I won in a street fights. I later learned JJ purple belt. I would not use JJ first in a street fight, I would punch first and might use JJ 2nd
Ppl need to realize that you dont. Need to play by bjj rules in the street. You can what everything they can do,plus extra. 2 or more vs 1 run if you have to slam one and return to your feet asap
Bjj only helps if your wrestling or judo is also on point. In a 1v1 street fight, if you can take your untrained opponent to the ground, hes losing a limb or going to sleep. Every time.
I would say Jiu Jitsu helps most out of all martial arts in street fights if your Gym is rolling hard, since most fights go to the ground. But yes running away is always best if it’s an option
You can’t choose to look out for danger and always see it in time, but if someone gives you no choice but to fight bjj will 100% be effective you aren’t gonna happen upon someone who boxes or wrestles that often in real life, those guys are less likely to pick a fight as well
@@AlexanderDemergis Such a dumb argument. You don't seem to understand the difference between sport jiu jitsu and self defense. If you're trying to be competent in self defense, everyone needs striking and grappling. Most of us do bjj for fun.
Yes today's BJJ definitely! doesn't focus on self defense any longer. When I started we focused lots on avoiding getting hit and oh ya we always started standing.
@@AlexanderDemergis I personally do Japanese Jiu Jitsu. It is a lot different. For example it has striking ect. So I would say that is better for outside. But on the ground bjj is probably better
Judo you can sweep and throw within 1 to 2 seconds. As much as i love bjj in a Fight i can finish it with a throw why would i buttscoot on concrete. 3 vs 1 after the second guy got knocked out witj a throw they stopped cause it happened too fast . Also do some Muay Thai . Sometimes you can't run if you have to protect.
Jesse Enkamp did a great video on BJJ. He entered a tournament and got reprimanded or disqualified for - get this - getting up and not allowing to be taken to ground.
nah, he was literally passively doing nothing and refusing to engage. In any fight sport that is not allowed. Even in karate, his own sport, if you just stand and do nothing refusing to move, the referee will yell and reprimand you
@@AlexanderDemergisit does make it interesting when a wrestler or a BJJ person starts Judo and tries a leg grab or a pick and you’re like “no no no”. But seriously, my first year doing Judo I was still a baby white belt, decided to start BJJ and it was great because I was able to toss higher ranked BJJ folks with little effort. But then I had no ground game and would immediately get crushed!
What safety net rules are you referring to? if you can fight standing at all...box, wrestle... then how tf can jiujitsu not help you in a street fight?? Did you get jumped ? Was the other guy just a better fighter? Kinda sounds like you're blaming jiu-jitsu for getting beaten up. So many rules !?? wtf
Also if it’s sport jui jitsu sometimes they just practice with gis mostly. But sport they just teach you stuff you can only do in tournaments vs a non sport jui jitsu. He’s not really blaming it, he’s spot on with what he said in the video and comment

Yes I have, got severely injured by 10 people. BJJ wouldn't have worked. Recognizing danger and running would have
Nothing is 'more better' only better.

Number one rule in a street fights, keep your distance. Number 2, stay on your feet. This doesnt take much experience to figure out.
Yes 1v1 you will have advantage - if it's more than 1 , mace or gun will do the trick
Yeah exactly the odds can change so quickly

Unless you fight someone who can throw. Jiu Jitsu guys drop the ball against guy who can strike and wrestle on the street.

If you have good takedown defense you're forced to stay standing which invalidates any grappling and BJJ

I mean if you just ignore the rules of BJJ, it will help. As someone said up top, fights will probably end up on ground so...yeah it should help.
Not gonna help much when their friends come over bro

What other discipline do you train as you say your a blue belt but are wearing a brown belt in the cut of you bowing ?
That's not me, just b-roll footage to add visual interest to the video haha. I just train BJJ
I got bad eyes lol congrats on the blue belt
BJJ is awesome in 1v1 situations but more foes are a problem
100% agreed, best not to test out a stranger playing fair imo

If you're playing by the rules and not fighting some Psycho that 's willing to gouge your eye out or bite your left nut😂
BJJ work but guard game is a big no relly on top control
I prefer Gun-Fu. I find it to be very effective.
😂😂
Best defense. Run
Exactly 💯

It's crazy how fast judo stops fights
2 and a half years to get a blue belt?? I thought it was like a year
Depends on the school, some do by time some do by skill level

That was a stupid video that made no point. People need striking and grappling. BBJ is a fun way to train grappling
Judo FTW!!!
Judo is really fun, I wish they didn't ban leg grabs
Do you give them a gi before you fight?😂😂

Learning more takedowns currently, makes me feel a lot better

Boxing wrestling and pure intent to kill is all you need to win a street fight.

Safety rules of BJJ: soft ground, no striking, start on ground, timers, and guaranteed 1 v 1
