I've liked the Fiesta ever since I rented one for an 11 hour trip back in 2012 or so. I stopped once to refill it and otherwise drove straight through. When I got out at the end I felt fine. I ended up buying some of the seats and retro fitting them into my Datsun. I have a 5 speed 2013 right now with about 215k miles and it's going strong.
I have a friend who bought a 2017 Focus Titanium. Great gas mileage, ride is a bit clunky, has all the bells and whistles. 30,000 miles and clutch is a little grabby. Overall less maintenance cost than my 2016 F250 6.2l, which had, among other things, 4 blend door actuators. I sold the 2016-F250 and got a 1977-F250 that is a continuing work in progress. The Focus isn't a bad little car with the exception of the door locks repeatedly activating sometimes. The problem with the dual clutch will have to be considered a maintenance thing. Thanks for the informative videos.
I have 2011 SEL model. I still drive my car to work everyday and i love it. I never had a major issue. I only have to changes my suspension and shocks due to my 45 minutes commuting to work everyday. Still running solid. 154k mile now and still counting.
I love the fiestas and focuses because they are cheap on the marketplace especially when the “trans” are bad. Easy fix’s to us mechanics. I do feel bad for the regular people who buy these cars who can not fix them themselves because 2-3k just to fix the forks n clutches to most consumers is to much money. But if someone can find one with 100,000 miles plus that has recently had the clutch’s AND the forks done they are good cars for like you said another 100,000 miles + before you have to worry about it breaking down. The shuddering unfortunately is normal on these cars unless you drive em hard or get a tune. But moral of the story unless you can get these cheap or know how to do mechanical work id steer away if i didn’t know any better
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles i agree with the mustangs lol. Im a big ford guy myself and also have mustangs. I Currently have a kenne bell 4.6 new edge but One day ill up it to a coyote car or coyote swap.
last summer i basically shoved 2 tubes of grease into my 2 actuator slots. the shudders got worse for awhile cos i think grease got on the clutch plates. so i drilled 2 holes in the bell housing and brakecleend the clutch while it was running. Ran over 10k miles since with pretty much zero shuddering. Very rarely once in a blue moon. It shuddered a bit taking off when my friend drove it one time. But other than that id say its basically fixed.
Hey Ben! I have a 2018 Ford Fiesta with a keypad on the drivers door. I bought the car from a used car lot and they had no idea what the combination is. I have been told there is a tag somewhere on the car but cannot find it. I have looked behing the glove box, removed the passenger kick panel and looked there, and a few other places. Do you know of a way I can find the code so I can unlock the doors with the keypad?
If the tag isn't in the glove box, I would check for a tag on the body control module. If that doesn't help, you can get forscan and should be able to pull the code that way. Or let ford use IDS to get the code
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Yeah, the card that should be with the manual, isn't, and I didn't see anything on the BCS when I was looking around back there. I hadn't thought about using forscan. I'll have to try that. Thanks!
Hi Ben, am struggling with my 2012 Ford Fiesta, Actuator B is stuck. I tried to clean it up but no lucky. I have removed the gearbox what would you suggest I do. Do i open the gearbox clean everything like how you do on videos ? I know i will need the special tools OR Do i buy a new clutch - the question is will i need that tool to reset a new clutch. Please assist i love this fiesta.
Hi, since the fork is sticking you should replace both and the clutch. The reset tool is 15 bucks and works a million times better than a torx ua-cam.com/video/EIJt9anfdSM/v-deo.html
I have a question about the 1.6. Have you ever adjusted or checked valve lash? If you have could you please upload a video??? I can’t tell if my fiesta sounds normal or not and some say it could be the valves but I doubt it becuase mine has only 86,000 miles.
Hi, I've got a video of me removing the cylinder head off that fiesta. There are valve springs with tappets on them, which ride off the cam lobes. So theres no adjustments there. Your noise may be normal for an older engine. My fiesta engine had some noises too (valvetrain)
@@BigBensCarsAndCyclesthank you for the heads up. I thought it was odd for valve lash check but all the forms say to check it at 100k. Do you know of any books are resources to get more info about the 1.6? I really want to get to know the motor. Thanks for your help! You’re the man!
I just received a 2014 from friend for free. It has transmission problems and an engine light I haven’t checked yet.. I will be doing the transmission repairs soon. It’s a manual transmission that likes to pop out of reverse and first, it also makes a lot noose from the transmission, any advise going forward?
I have a 2012 ford focus with a loud knock sound, any chance I can send a video and maybe you can explain what it is?? Because we’ve been trying to figured it out for months
I'll see what I can do. If you check my video for cylinder head removal, I disconnect the fuel line and show the tool, and show the 2 bolts to take the rail out. From there, you slide the clips off the injectors and they pop out.
HI Mate, I've got a 2018 1.0 ecoboost focus Automatic it's fine at idle but at low speed and low rpm such as parking the car, the revs drop to 500 and cars sometimes cuts out. Do you have any idea what this could be, I have cleaned throttle body.
Hi Ben, i just bought a 2017 Focus SEL, it runs nice, it has 48k miles on it, it has zero alarms on the dashboard, do you think i should be wary of the transmission at that mileage? Can i do something ti prevent any failure?
Great honest review from a respected Ford mechanic very much familiar with the Focus to other generalist mechanics. With all due respect, the non mechanically minded owner driver, would be more interested in the cost effectiveness (i.e expected running and non discounted maintenance/repair cost) of such a Focus at its current age (12 years old?) and current mileage (160-80,000 miles?) over say the next 3-5 years @10-15,000 miles a year. Young people look for such aged car as an affordable first vehicle. I could be wrong, my guess it would be non cost-effective against many other smillar sized and aged vehicles. I hope you don't get offended by my comment

the reason it pops out is it was driven low on oil i bought a used one $200

Hey, if you have a scan tool, monitor pids for TCC slip desired and measured and make sure they're about the same

I'd change the fluid in it ( i have a video for that ) and drive it in a spirited manner to extend the life of the clutch
Belt driving 🥲 music to my ears
There’s no video anywhere for a transmission removal of a fiesta. It’s definitely harder than a focus in my opinion
