- The all-new Kia Stinger is a design focused car that simultaneously looks luxurious, stylish, and sporty all at the same time. The 2018 Kia Stinger starts at $31,900 for the base model and tops out at $51,400 for the GT2 AWD model. The lower level trim cars come with a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine that is turbocharged producing 255 horsepower. Step up to the more expensive models and you get a twin-turbocharged 3.3 liter V-6 that makes 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft. of torque.
The interior is driver focused with a lot of attention to design as well. The suspension is Kia’s first continually adaptive suspension. Competitors include the: Porsche Panamera, Audi A5, Lexus GS, Ford Taurus, Dodge Charger, and Cadillac CTS.

Kia already is one of the best brands in the World for daily drivers type of cars. Now they have raised their game up to compete against the best.
edozie sylvester in my state the most common Kia model that I see in my state is the 2011-2015 Kia Optima’s i also own a 2015 Optima SX-Turbo Limited when I graduate high school hoping to trade it in for Kia Stinger, Sportage or Optima.
edozie sylvester Kia will always be synonymous with cheap. They had to hire someone else to build a car and a Hellcat, Cadillac, and Tesla would pee all up this riced bucket.

My grandson who is an automotive engineer and co-oped with BMW was the one who convinced me to buy a GT1 Stinger. I was a toyota owner sinve the 1980s and traded an Avalon for my stinger.
2+ years later how do you like, how did it held up?
I'm a great BMW fan, but since i saw this Stinger, I've simply fallen in love with it. It's a real beauty. In the near future, many families will be able to afford a sport sedan at a very reasonable price. It'll be a dream come true for many people.
I love my GT2 AWD 3.3TT, and it would seem that others do as well. KIA is selling more GT2's then they thought and so it caught them by surprise, since they were banking on people going for the less expensive GT.
Saw one of these in traffic this week, though only from behind, it looked glorious! Looks even better in person. I want to go to a showroom and see one up close.

Just bought my gt2 last week man oh man this thing is a rocket 🚀 on wheels good build quality and it turns a lot of head on the road you should see this attention it gets while I’m driving I got it in red with custom black wheel oh man it looks gorgeous

I personally bought an AWD GT2 a few weeks ago and have been loving every moment with it, even in the snow. And this is coming from a previous 370z owner that had to garage it five months of the year.

Matte no pun intended but we bought korean new and used..i still use my beloved spectra and my dad just bought a Tucson last CNY,i wanted to buy a stinger but for brandnew it's quite steep..i can buy two kia optimas for the price of one stinger in my country
Matte You make a fair point and the Chevy SS was a classic case of this(in addition to other factors) but it's not that I dont want to spend $45K+ on a Kia. I dont HAVE $45k+ to spend on anything.
If I were to buy it new, I'm keeping it. To hell with new monthly car notes every 3 years.

Just bought the red GT2 and had a “friend” with a BMW 3 series laugh at me for five minutes. I’ll have the last laugh. Great job Kia.

Thanks for the vid! Now I see all the small differences between the US version and my EU car. The automatic gear box handgrip, the middle console with a huge lid over the cupholders, the different drive modes (I have a sport and a sport plus mode instead of custom mode, which kills the electronic stability control and shifts the power to the rear axle), the AWD, which is the only option for the 3.3 GT...interesting!
PS: yeah, what I personally adore: in my country, there is no configurator messing necessary! The GT comes already fully packed, the only option is the metallic or pearle colour for € 850.- Love that!
Hans Wurst The American market has two shift gears for the GT's. This one has the lower model shift gear with the higher model having a more substantial lever.
Got a white gt awd 3.3tt with the red guts. This car is a beast! Everywhere I go people come up to me askin what it is they think it’s a Maserati or somthin lol. A guy with a brand new BMW M2 competition came up to me and was drooling he found out it was a Kia n laughed. I let him take it for a spin around the block..........well let’s just say he apologized n just couldn’t rap his head around how KIA built this beautiful GT/Sport sedan that’s drives like a BMW. I told him Kia stole BMW’s top engineer and he built it🤷🏻♂️. He has a 330i for his daily and he sure was mad af he spent 15k more than me for a 4 banger that is always in the shop😂😂. He literally told me he’s goin to trade in his 330i for a GT stinger. And that’s all from a BMW fanboy his whole life. Enough said🤷🏻♂️
The one thing I didn't like was the low Stinger driving height, but that's just me. I had just got out of a Sorento. I want the Sorento SX.

def one hell of a machine as I've test driven both drivetrains. I find the RWD to be more engaging and fun in my honest opinion. Even in the area where I live where we occasionally get snow, I still wouldn't mind getting a RWD version of this. 2019 GT Base are selling for $32k at a nearby dealership. Seriously contemplating if I should go for a trade-in of my '13 Optima SXL for a Stinger. Having some really exciting feeling just entertaining that notion.
I recently got a 2019 GT1 RWD and it provides all the traction I need. It does have lsd and I reside in snow free AZ. I couldn't be happier with my decision!
2023 update - Sadly sold my Panthera Metal Grey 2019 GT base rwd back in 2021... and i've missed it terribly since then... then a miracle happened today when a Canadian 2018 GT Limited AWD in the same color as what I had before showed up out of nowhere from CarGurus local ads with shockingly low miles on the odo (5k MILES!) for $35k... I did not think twice and went a got it and couldn't be happier! REUNITED AND IT FEEEEEELS SO GOOD!

I don't mean to be a stickler about this, but I noticed that the Mercedes CLS was said to be a hatchback but if I recall, it isn't and has never had a liftback trunk. Nitpicking I know but... Lol.

I saw the base Stinger 2.0T and thought it was a Civic Hatchback on 20's. Very homely design.
I've only seen two out on the streets here in LA.
Beautiful side profile and color. This car has really grown on me. I personally wouldn’t buy it, but I hope many do because it’s a great car. Just wish it had a manual.... good read headroom & a large boot!
My main complaints are the lack of a 360 degree camera, wireless charging, and no suede headliner in the US. Why cheapen the car down like that in the US when trying to pull buyers away from BMW, Audi, etc? I would have the GT2 version of this already if they had the 360 camera, but if a 30k Accord has something that a 50k KIA does not, that's a problem.
A-N-R Gupta the Canadian Stinger already has the 360 camera so I believe it will come in future model years. I agree that I need it too. I have the 360 camera in my Kia Sedona and I love it. Haven’t scratched a rim yet.

Does the regal gs factor here too? So when is the head to head to head comparison happening if the kia is this 'giant' killer you speak of? Despite all of the acclaim, the hardest thing it will have to do is overcome the kia stigma which might take a year or two and some slow sales early on...hopeful less than fully optioned stingers are worth driving/owning...kia vs the world, hope it's a good fight
Buick will depreciate faster
I wish I could have the V6 drivetrain and interior of the Stinger with the exterior of the Regal.
Buick seems to like going to about 7/10ths of the way on their cars and then charging 100% of the price. I want to support what they're doing, I just can't get over their antiquated interior materials and design for the price they're seeking.
Wait and pick one up about 2-3yrs old, you still get a warranty and the previous owner eats that initial depreciation.

If i bought this car its because of the hatchback like the bmw428 or audi a5 sportback. But noway would i spend 50k on a kia my 50k goes to the audi a5 sportback or the bmw its not about who is faster its about build quality and the finish of the brand. Still havent seen any stingers on the road yet and i bet it wont be a good seller at this price.

This entire video is a paid advertisement. Hella biased. Spend at least half the video going over the bad sides of the car instead of just talking about the good. Like how it pushing such a low hp number while competitors in the same $ range and engine config. are not. Or how the stinger doesnt do anything particularly better than any other competitor. This car will be good in 3-4 years when they reconfig. it multiple times

I had a base Stinger 2.0T pass us on the highway as the sun glare was blasting us on a sunset. I had thought based on the silhouette it was a Civic Hatchback on 20's. The wheels are pushed out too far to the corner of the car and just looks out of place overall.

It's $50,000 because it IS $50,000. This not a luxury brand, so if they make an expensive product, it is because it is expensive to make. $50,000 is justified. 6 cylinder turbo + RWD is expensive.

Priced way to high! Kia has the worst dealerships in the us and one of the worst resale values. Might be a great car but this thing will deprecate faster than a jaguar (also great car).
I'm sorry brother...its still a KIA! Maybe KIA should put a Genesis badge on it. I'm hearing thats what some owners are doing. Someone actually put a Mazda badge in place of the KIA badge.
Wherever you got that information, your just wrong. What they are doing is using the Korean market badge. The Koran market badge has a different symbol.
