I’ll have to measure mine again, it’s been a few years since I put the Mcarbo trigger kit in, but mine was closer to 3# from memory. 308 with a cheap Leupold Freedom 3-9x40 and it shoots (barely) sub MOA at 100y. I use it for a bad weather deer rifle
11:30 My Axis went from 7.5 lbs. trigger pull to 3.5 lbs., and it is consistent. Even better than that, the pull before M*Carbo was loooong, with two or three rough spots before firing. All that is gone now. Very short pull and only one stage. It went from the worst trigger I had to one of the best.
I poured ROCKITE expansion cement in webbing of forend to stiffen (after drilling holes between cells). TIP : go easy on water while mixing. If you get too generous use a paper towel to soak up excess water after pouring (it will rise and be sitting on top of pour). I left pour 1/16" below webbing height. Extremely rigid now.
I’ve made both “upgrades” and I think M*CARBO is the rifle upgrade superstar especially for the ease of installation and the price 👍👍👍…I took a smaller diameter aluminum rod wrapped with some 230 grit paper to bring things into specs on barrel/forearm…it didn’t take much to reduce the contact to not at at all 😊😊😊…excellent video!
I brought my 308 axis from a 3 inch group to a .5 inch group with hunting ammo by putting on an apache gun works bull barrel 20 inches, 1 in 10 twist . Cost $260 at the time if i remember correctly.
Son has an axis in 308. We did the mcarbo and put the 1 lb spring in. Testing the action before reinstalling. Found the safety wasn't working properly. Safety on, we could pull the trigger. Adjusted safety set screw. But holy smokes that 1 lb trigger is QUICK. next mod will be a d.i.y. muzzle break. Not sure on a 20 moa rail or getting high rise scope rings. Bolt lever gets real close to the scope.
It's a cheap Savage Axis and I love this rifle. If I'd had the money I would have looked for a tighter one, but after modifying my stock and making a miner change to the scope mount I get to do more than the rest. I plan on changing the trigger for better safety and the magazine to hold more bullets. I have built a few AR-15's for myself, but this bolt action is just what I wanted.@@forrestjones3804
Yeah the only issue with CeraKote on this rifle is I'll need to rig up an oven to cure it in. It's too long to fit in the oven in the house. That might slow things down a bit
Take the blocks out and use countertop epoxy to fill the fore end. It will be way stiffer and add some needed weight. Mine in .243 20" is a tac driver and sub moa at 400 yrds. We're is also a bolt throw mod available that makes it really light and smooth to open and close.
disagree when i come to you tube i come to see how someone else does their mods to get ideas 5 years ago a person could learn anything about disassembly of almost any gun now youtube is no longer a place to learn how to improve guns its just a place to show and tell but not really show what you do

We actually bought a bull barreled 18" Axis 2 on sale at Academy for $300 last year. I sold the rifle in this video for $250.
The M Carbo Trigger alone is a HUGE improvement. I bought the axis 2 (still have the epoxied 1 sitting in a case) I love my save rifles!!

@@JayLewisFarmStyle. Found out glade's armory sells a new bolt handle. It's massive in comparison.
I have two Savage Axis rifles that I made minor changes to on the stocks. The triggers are stiff, but with carful care shot well.
7mm-08 & .243
Thanks for sharing!
How do you like the 7mm08? Thinking of pickin one up

@@JayLewisFarmStyle Do you know why Savage did not put a bolt lock down in the axis?
@totallyjonesin I would guess it was a cost saving decision.
I will have to finish watching this when I get home from work.
Thanks Kelly!
I wish I would have seen the survey. It was my birthday yesterday and I didn't get online at all.
Happy birthday Kelly!
@@JayLewisFarmStyle thank you!
Cerakote would be cool.

Don't like the accu trigger? That goes from 7-8 lbs trigger pull to 2-3 lbs trigger pull. Okay mentally hopeless crowd, duly noted.
.
Enjoying the progress you are making on the project 😊. Thanks for the video and have a great weekend.
Same to you Keith!
I instaled 3 1/2lb mcarbo in my axis. Which did use. 3 1/3 or2 1/2
@johnlawrence5136 I used the lighter spring.
Thanks for watching!

I currently own this gun. It’s my favorite gun!❤

I actually don't like the accutriger.
A lot of folks say that! It's it because of the weight or because of the little dingus in the middle of the trigger that you don't like it?
Maybe you should re crown the barrel
Might have possibly helped, but we actually bought an entirely different barreled action with a shortie little 18" threaded bull barrel.
Smart not to show any additions to the Unit on the tube of u.
Agreed indeed!
