I like it, but the pattern is to repeating, should have used different surfaces of the sponge to make the pattern more unique. As you look down the stock you see the same pattern.
I watched many camo paint job in UA-cam and I come up with the conclusion that using the sponge method is the one I like the most as well. I did yesterday a paint job just like you and I love it, thanks for your video bro!! Your rifle looks just fantastic !!!!!
Looks fine. I do the same to all my rifles if they aren't already painted from the factory. Mine have a majority of green in the color scheme, only because I am in Georgia, and Georgia is very, very green. If the color scheme corresponds with the most common colors of the foliage in your location, then it is good to go. Good job, fun video man.
I have this exact rifle in .30-06 and I've been keen to paint it for a while now. I'll probably do a complete base layer of the light colour for the entire rifle and then slightly lighter greens and browns. But this sponge technique is a new idea for me so I'm super keen to try it out!
Deadly paint job, wanted to paint my .22 mag and was going to make stencils for gap camo but after seeing how yours came out I opted for your method, mine turned out as good as yours, well done thanks for the tutorial.
Wonderful job Kyle. Now you "OWN" that rifle as no one else's looks the same!!! Great job and video! Can't wait to see which glass you choose and whatever is next.~
Mad skillz.....looks wicked in the end man....I just tried painting my Remington .22 semi auto stock last night and kinda messed up, but that looks easy, cool AF, and a new school cammo look!
Thanks for the video. I feel inspired to do the same with my new Ruger .22 American with a black polymer stock. Yours came out so well I think I'll have to try it myself.
Nice!!! I wasn't sure when I saw you first going at it with a broken sponge but... Looks awesome and is quite a forgiving method I imagine, if I have a synthetic stock in the future, will definitely be having a bash.
Looks great. Reminds me of TrueTimber Strata. I'll be teying this on my bow. But since I'm doing a cover up, Ill be painting the whole thing tan first then sponging through with gteen ans brown as you did.
Probably going to do this to my Ruger American. I bought the Go Wild version just for the bronze cerakote barrel and receiver. I personally love the Strata style camo and it will match all my gear!
Honestly wasn’t sure how it would look, but the finished product is awesome. Good choice painting the cheek riser, it is a fairly big part on the stock. The main thing is that it’s what you like, great job as always.
To be honest, I was doubtful at first,.but now that's it's done, I like it. Now I'm thinking that maybe,.if it were my rifle ( but it isn't ) I'd paint the barrel/receiver/bolt handle too. Good job!
awesome job and glad you are also enjoying it. you should give the whole thing a coat of grey next time when you do one then do your tan, green, brown sponge treatment. getting rid of that black really makes a difference.
I know this is an old video, but great job my man. Only one thing I would suggest and it's a minute detail; Your light splotches running the length of your barrel are a little conspicuous. They look almost like eyes and have almost some sort of symmetry. It's just something that would likely stand out in nature. But that's just nitpicking from an old Marine. Looks fantastic.
Looks good...I have done simulator like this...but I like to take a netting of some sort...hit with black paint gives it a scale look on top....looks good.
Excellent job Kyle! The paint job looks similar to my GAP Camo Manners Stock! Do consider a bedding job on the stock. Fairly inexpensive and yields a far more accurate rifle.
I’ve been putting camouflage on firearms for 45 years. Less is more when it comes to camouflage. Do some research on German camouflage. The colors are great and the design is awesome. I’ve camouflaged boats, vehicles and too many to count for the military at Fort Hood. I’ve found out that most don’t want the clear coat. They want it to wear so it looks battle worn. Some like netting, sticks thrown on it,sponges or my hand drawn stencil work. Your first camouflage job looks real good. Keep forging those knives out brother.
great job brother but just an quick advice for anyone reading it, when you're applying a certain color don't go in a straight symmetrical line, randomize the blots that you make and use different pieces of sponges or whatever material you're working with and don't be afraid te let your colors overlap. I guarantee that would yield you a better result, cheers mates.
Kyle - Not into Guns much myself but I really enjoy how you put together your videos. It makes for a great viewing. Great job - on all videos. I'll be waiting for the next one for sure. Also love the knives. Such great craftsmanship right here at home is amazing.
WoW looks awesome to me you made it look easy you explain everything to a T I don't like painting anything but I believe I will give it a try Thank you for sharing..
Looks great, I'm glad you did the bipod and cheek rest as well, it would have looked to standoutish without it. Don't wander far from it if you lean it against a tree, you'll never find it..lol
All joking aside I painted a .22 Remington Nylon 66 forty-nine years ago, as a sixteen year old kid. I was squirrel hunting with it and set it against a tree while I was picking some nearby Mulberrys. I spent TWO HOURS looking for my rifle and I walked no farther than sixty yards away! I immediately bought a sling for that rifle!!! lol
Should spray the entire stock with preferred base color and then add the splotches of other paints. Also, some splotches of white look really good too. I used 000 steel wool on the finished patters after drying to smooth ridges down before applying the clear coat. Excellent job. Thanks for sharing.
It looks amazing. I had mine hydro-dipped because the ones I have painted in the past I was never happy with personally. The only thing I would say is the smallest of detail, but on the right side your tan sponge marks form a line. Those kind of throw off the rest of the rifle camo. Then again this is just my opinion. I love where your going with this rifle, and I'm excited to watch the final product come to life. I am liking these small step by step videos, it's great to always have a new video to watch! Keep up the good work my friend!
Thanks bud! I noticed the same, but in person you don't really notice it. I can always touch over it with a little brown or green and fix it. Thanks for watching!
Hello Kyle. Looks like you found a new hobby. Your gun looks good. There is no end of what you can do with painting your stock. Something you might want to try on the next one is using netted stockings or a piece of the corrugated tool tray liner for patterns. Enjoy your new hobby.
Haha this is far from a new hobby for me my friend. I have been shooting for years... This rifle has been in my collection 6-7 years. I just haven't bothered to alter it until now. I have seen others use the netting, and it does look neat, although not as much my style! Thanks for watching :-)
Kyle Noseworthy that’s great. Didn’t mean to offend you Kyle. I guess I assumed that due to not watching you for very long. I’ve been playing with guns for a long time as I’m getting close to being a old timer. Lol.
If it helps, after a BUNCH of use, dragging around in the woods, it has held up perfectly. I cant believe how durable it has been, with the matte clear coat!
Simple but effective. If you matched the camo with the hunting environment...good job. U might wanna try finding a natural sponge. It has a better hole pattern. Update: i just finished my stock using your method. Im impressed. Came out awesome. Idk how to share a pic
Thanks Jon! I actually looked everywhere in my area for a natural sponge, but they just aren't common anymore! So, I bought one of these terrible artificial ones, and tore it up as roughly as I could. It did okay.
Love the video. Planning to do the same technique with my ruger american (in green stock) any recommendations on working with a green stock? Tan, black, would I still need green?
Looks good, I saw a fella do kinda a tiger stripe idea first, then went over that with the sponge with opposite colours, and that looked good as well.. Honestly, I don't think you can mess this up, anything is better than black.
What is your bipod and how do you like it? Thanks for your video btw.. Really helpfull! I'll do the same! Do you know if i can find some Black/Dark Grey/Lite Gray?
Looks great! As a city dweller in an apartment with minimal space seeing your shop and your tools is motivating and inspiring!
Quick! Get out of there! haha I spent years in a little apartment in the city. I know how tough it can be to work on projects... Keep working!
Dude, that painted cheek riser really ties the room together. 😎
Love it, love it, love it. Can’t believe the difference. From a low end 308 to a heir loom. Can’t wait to see the next step.
thanks!
Loves it. Gonna try it on my mossberg.
And for those who don’t like it…
Well you can’t please them all.
I like it, but the pattern is to repeating, should have used different surfaces of the sponge to make the pattern more unique. As you look down the stock you see the same pattern.
I painted my rifle like this after watching your video and it turned out awesome!!! Thank you
You have earned a new subscriber!
Probably one of the best painted stock I’ve seen yet, good job
Must be the only stock you seen painted😂
EXCELLENT VIDEO! Your presentation was perfect. I really appreciate your work here!
I watched many camo paint job in UA-cam and I come up with the conclusion that using the sponge method is the one I like the most as well. I did yesterday a paint job just like you and I love it, thanks for your video bro!! Your rifle looks just fantastic !!!!!
Just came in from the garage after putting on the first coat of clear. Looks just like yours, turned out amazing. Thanks man
I usually like to do a base coat of either tan or grey just to get a better contrast but it looks awesome!
That looks great. I love how broken up the sponge makes it.
I have this exact rifle in .30-06 and I've been keen to paint it for a while now. I'll probably do a complete base layer of the light colour for the entire rifle and then slightly lighter greens and browns. But this sponge technique is a new idea for me so I'm super keen to try it out!
Awesome job and super easy. Thanks for the video, love the colors. Gonna pull my Ruger American out of my safe and give her a new paint job.
That's so neat. Love the process used to paint the stock.
Thanks buddy! Hope you aren't offended that I painted the knobs!!
man, ngl this is prob the best DIY camo finish Ive ever seen on yt!
Thanks for the video. I painted all three of my Axis’s. They all look great. Also fabbed cheek risers for them using your video.
Wasn't to sure at first but that came out great. Rifle looks sick, love it.
Wow, looks awesome. When you started I wasn't sure, but it turned out amazing. Well done Kyle!
Came out great man, nice job!
You are the only one the rifle has to impress and it did. Good job sir!
Deadly paint job, wanted to paint my .22 mag and was going to make stencils for gap camo but after seeing how yours came out I opted for your method, mine turned out as good as yours, well done thanks for the tutorial.

Great Paintjob, man. Love your camo -style! I have to try this to my AR. 💓 Fantastic Music at the walkaround - end! 👍👍👍
Beautiful job Kyle!!! I'm gonna paint my T3 VARMINT stock using your method!!!
Thanks for the video. I feel inspired to do the same with my new Ruger .22 American with a black polymer stock. Yours came out so well I think I'll have to try it myself.
I really really like the look of that rifle like that
Dude I’m so inspired. Great job! Doing this ASAP
That turned out really nice! Well done!

Thought hard on painting the barrel and action, but decided against! Maybe in the future!
@@kyle_noseworthy Yes, that`s correct, always leave an option open, good idea.
awesome job and glad you are also enjoying it. you should give the whole thing a coat of grey next time when you do one then do your tan, green, brown sponge treatment. getting rid of that black really makes a difference.

Love it, I think I’ll paint my bike this way 🤪
Looks good...I have done simulator like this...but I like to take a netting of some sort...hit with black paint gives it a scale look on top....looks good.
Howdee from Alberta!
Incredible job! Really like how it turned out. Reminds me a lot of True Timber Strata camo. Do another stock paint job soon!
I have two questions: 1) How long do you let it dry in between each colors. 2) What would be the proper approach if the rifle base color is tan?
Excellent job Kyle! The paint job looks similar to my GAP Camo Manners Stock! Do consider a bedding job on the stock. Fairly inexpensive and yields a far more accurate rifle.

Looks amazing!! Any ideas on how to do a wetland camo look for a shotgun.
Looks great man, think I'm gonna try it on a couple of my compound bows. Thanks 4 taking the time to make the video
This is sick. Love it, great job.
Looks really good! Way better than I expected! Might do this to my Rem 700
Faaaark that looks good. Thinking of doing this to my steyr pro hunter. Great job.
Thanks for posting this. Been wanting to camp a rifle. Great video. 😃👍🇺🇸
How has the paint job held up over the years? Great Video!!
Nice job. The main thing is matching the surrounding environment colors. It's always easy to change too,if you want.
Agreed! These colors will do a fine job in our northern boreal. If I lived in a dusty southern area, I'd probably go lighter!
Looks awesome. Great job
Kyle - Not into Guns much myself but I really enjoy how you put together your videos. It makes for a great viewing. Great job - on all videos. I'll be waiting for the next one for sure. Also love the knives. Such great craftsmanship right here at home is amazing.
Thank you Terry! Glad you're enjoying the videos regardless!
Duuude that looked amazing!
It looks supercool. Good job Kyle
Great job! Probably going to copy this idea with slightly different colors
Looks great. I know what my next project is going to be!
Man that's actually awesome, well done!!

Very nice! Pretty much matches my favorite camouflage pattern.
Your gun is one of the best looking on you tube.
Looks fantastic! How has it held up over the years?
Looks great, gonna try this out with my axis! Thanks!
Looks great! Thanks for the video 👍🏽
I hated the thought when I read the title but you've surprised me, looks pretty good!
haha figured... While typing it I was thinking in sarcasm, "Ray is gonna' love this one" haha
Should spray the entire stock with preferred base color and then add the splotches of other paints. Also, some splotches of white look really good too. I used 000 steel wool on the finished patters after drying to smooth ridges down before applying the clear coat. Excellent job. Thanks for sharing.
How long after painting do you use clear coat
I have learned so much! Thank you for this content.
...very nice job! Me personally, I would have like to seen the barrel transitioned into bronze.
Very nice!! Great presentation! Now I need to work up some nerve do my Savage model 64 22lr like this.
It looks amazing. I had mine hydro-dipped because the ones I have painted in the past I was never happy with personally. It's funny, we sponge paint as kids but the concentration on our faces as adults is priceless.
Turned out really well
Nice!! Awesome job, man! 😃
Just the video I was looking for👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻great video and great work!
Nice work, going to do that with mine!
Run a piece of paper between the barrel and forward stock. To see if its free floating?
Going to do this. I was looking for a technique to redo my CVA accura, which has the rubber feel that deteriorated to muck. Thanks.
Looks nice, but i think ill spray a heavy base coat on mine before sponging, GJ man
Hello Kyle. Looks like you found a new hobby. Your gun looks good. There is no end of what you can do with painting your stock. Something you might want to try on the next one is using netted stockings or a piece of the corrugated tool tray liner for patterns. Enjoy your new hobby.

Awesome looking job I'm going to do a German Mauser 8mm jist like this Thanks for doing this video
If it helps, after a BUNCH of use, dragging around in the woods, it has held up perfectly. I cant believe how durable it has been, with the matte clear coat!
Thought you were going to ruin the riffle at first. Now I think you should patent it. Good job man!
This is awesome, thanks for sharing!
Would you do anything different? I wondered about a black primer for plastic as the base cost.
How's it last? My experience, the paint ware off fairly easy. Especially when it is actually being used often
How well is this holding up?
Maybe so 🤔. It really looks cool !!!
Wow! That looks awesome Kyle!
How well has your paint job held up? And what was the temperature when you started painting?
Wow this looks awesome👍🏼👍🏼😎
That came out great!
I'm going to add soom tree leafs on mine thanks for video
Simple but effective. If you matched the camo with the hunting environment...good job. U might wanna try finding a natural sponge. It has a better hole pattern.

Looks great but “it doesn’t really matter “. I love the paint and laid back attitude.

I see the Blue, Yellow and Red and I hit subscribe
Not bad Kyle, definitely fantastic video thanks
What is your bipod and how do you like it?
Thanks for your video btw.. Really helpfull! I'll do the same!
Do you know if i can find some Black/Dark Grey/Lite Gray?
Does anyone else see skulls with a bullet hole when he sponges on the tan color? Looks rad IMO
I do too but I’m super baked watching this so I thought it was just me 😂
