Does a bad charcoal canister or purge valve cause a p0455 code ? Large evap leak detected ? And would cleaning that purge valve help anything or should I just buy new charcoal canister and purge valve ? I have a ml350 05 with 172k and the symptoms are I smell gas inside also I smell a bad smell outside next to the R Left wheel not all the time but at Tim’s &bad engine performance/ sluggish idle. Plz lmk thank you !

Check for gas residue from the tank, you can look under the car. You’re gonna want to smoke test the evap system.
Sluggish performance may be separate issue. Resolve the P0455 first.
Likely bed MAF sensor, common to have poor performances no faults for such

Do you know where that vent is located when the charcoal canister is round. I can't find it anywhere.

@@eurowerx4267 i did find the purge but i couldn't find the vent valve no where. Is it further under the fender, there are only two lines on the canester, a blue one going to the tank and a black one going forward.
