I should have voltage dropped the Lin Bus it would have saved a bit of time. It read 9-11.5 volts at both components. Voltage drop would have confirmed my suspicions

    lol, don't feed the trolls, I am $120 an hour in CO, and I can get it done faster than the shops since they are backed up with at least a 2-3 week wait. I have been told I should charge more.

    I quit my job today I am 20 years old, I got tired of feeling like a slave even tho I was getting 40$ an hour and have gotten hired twice the owner is very annoying when days are slow also threatens to fire when you don’t wanna stay late after work??? Even tho time is 9-5 I’m just really trinna make it through these new journey anyone has any advice for me?

      @@Videsamuel10 gotta take the good with the bad. If you can learn something there, you may want to stick it out. I’d try a direct conversation with the owner, if he’s a tool, start looking for a better opportunity. However, you’re young, got lots to learn!

      @@eurowerx4267 Yeah "parts changer" this man can work on an 85 Mercedes to a brand new whatever. He was educated in Cuba so he got a real education. Not to mention his work ethic 50-60 hours a week you do the math. That's a hell of a living for a parts changer.

    Just had a fellow mechanic change the hose in my F20, without any experience with this engine. Took him 7 hours to diagnose, remove everything on top and fix the issue. Way cheaper than an official BMW workshop, but next time I will do it myself thanks to this video. You are a true hero! Btw: My guts telling me that BMW is doing it the same way you did it but they charge customers the time it takes to rip everything apart.

    No youre supposed to charge more because youre on site. Get a placard for your truck, and a few tshirts that say you. And dont give on the price. Skilled labor is that for a reason, you bothered to learn the skills. They pay.

      @@sabindinca9007 $130 is good. When you add in drive time and chasing parts, it’s much less than $130, I don’t charge for those things. Overall, it’s good enough. Hope the video helped

      @@jont.v5486 that’s one way to look at it! This car was pinned in by two other cars, another one broke down! Would have had to pay the tow charge! My $130 is cheaper than most shops, $140-$150 is the average here, and that’s for shops that don’t specialize. I serve the wealthiest zip code in FL, but still charge the same hourly as I did in GA. I specialize in BMW and Mercedes! Nearly 15 years dealer experience. That’s where the money is, high end cars. I don’t discount low dollar cars. My value remains the same despite the vehicle or a customers perception!

    Tools, gas, and shop supplies don't just fall from the sky. The only thing that is falling is sweat from the brow. 130 is a perfectly reasonable price. I hope those prices go up to 150 during the winter.

    In a shop you can get jobs done much faster. I would hope your hourly rate is less if you're doing the same job while taking longer to do it. I agree that coming to someone's house is a premium service, and you should charge more for that, but if it's a job that they could drive to a shop for, that's different.

      @@skylernelson5005 I agree! I had a shop in GA. Been looking for a shop in FL since I left 9 months ago. I don’t typically charge a call out, drive typically 30 minutes to get to the job, and then have to fight things like parking and access to vehicles. I provide mechanic, locksmith and programming services. I’m flat rate, they pay by the job according to AllData, so I’m losing because of the additional work needed to do it on the ground. They don’t need to go anywhere else, I come to them until I can find another location. My truck is packed to provide those services.

Smart people pay $130 because they know my ability and reputation! Stupid people pay $75 an hour because Their looking for the cheapest mechanic around!     In the mean time, a windshield sun shade will have to do. Thanks, this helped identify the issue. 12 year old Mini, not a fuss since its been always parked in direct sun light all these years. Changing parking spots and direction would be ideal.

    There is a service campaign 477 "engine oil label check" the correct oil is 10w60. There was an error from the factory. The label you show is for a v8. The v6 takes 10w60. Not sure why, but that's the correct weight.
