OVERKILL Woodworking Assembly Table $$

- We are building a assembly table that is overbuilt and overly pricey in about every way. We are taking a car lift and building a torsion box style workbench out of MDF on top of it for the ultimate assembly table. #workbench #assemblytable

A torsion box consists of two thin layers of material (skins) on either side of a lightweight core, usually a grid of beams. It is designed to resist torsion under an applied load. A hollow core door is probably the most common example of a torsion box (stressed skin) structure. The principle is to use less material more efficiently. The torsion box uses the properties of its thin surfaces to carry the imposed loads primarily through tension while the close proximity of the enclosed core material compensates for the tendency of the opposite side to buckle under compression.
Torsion boxes are used in the construction of structural insulated panels for houses, wooden tables and doors, skis, snowboards, and airframes - especially wings and vertical stabilizers. ~~Credit Wikipedia - Навчання та стиль
Nice build. I’ve had my eye open for a deal on a lift for years now.
This is the first time I’ve come across your videos. The sound effects of the tools were a little loud in comparison to the rest of the sound in the video imo.
Anyways, thanks for posting
Great thumbnail, great video, great build. Just... great!
Thanks man. Someday I will find someone to help edit and I will get more of these videos kicked out. :-)
Very innovative! 😊
Thanks a lot 😊
@2:42 ... don't you wish they made a track saw for righties though? (with a Blade Left design)
As a former lefty, and now forced to be a righty after losing use of my left arm, you have no idea what you are missing. I can't cut straight for the life of me now as I can't use a table saw or track saw with just my right hand.
That would be super useful. I constantly find myself trying to fold myself into weird positions to do things. 🍻
@2:30 ... I miss that old Hitachi. I wasred a small fortune on the newer HPT's, and they're just not the same. 😢😢😢
I absolutely love that thing and I hope it never dies. 😂.
When you say old Hitachi, do you mean the Hitachi mitre saw that cost $800, in 2005?
Awesome build; just built a shop and wanting to build a table just like this so very helpful! Thanks! One question…how did you attach the table to the lift?
It was so heavy by the time I was done I didn’t do much other than screw some blocks along the sides to keep it from sliding around. It’s super sturdy. 🍻
