  • This was a tough hike but one of the best we have ever done. Starting from Wasdale Head carpark, we first climbed Kirk Fell via the path on the side of Great Gable to Rib End. Next we returned back to the saddle and ascended the mighty Great Gable. This was very steep and very challenging in parts and hard to find the path. So much so that I lost the path at one stage and had to backtrack and go sideways. However, we made it! Then we took the steps down to Styhead Tarn and the stretcher box and returned to Wasdale.
A tremendous day of hiking and we were joined by Alan Metalman who was great company all day and helped to make it so memorable

Thank you for watching and your kind comments. We did 5 big hikes on this trip so I've 3 more hiking videos to put together but out of all the hikes, Kirk Fell and Great Gable were definitely the toughest but gave us our best views. Regards, Ashley

Thank you, Nicola. Andrea has a bit of a dodgey knee always so we try to manage it. When she gets warmed up I think she forgets about it!! Regards, Ashley

Really enjoyed watching this one this morning and a great reminder of a tough but very enjoyable day. We both watching it over morning over breakfast and I remember getting in the car thinking 3 hours back but the roads should be clear, so maybe 2.5 hours - it was actually 3hrs 20 minutes before I got back, tired but happy, cheers Alan

I hope your head wasn't too sore!! It was a brilliant day and I even enjoyed doing the editing as there was so much good footage. Andrea and you always seemed to be chatting!! The climb up Great Gable will be etched in my memory forever and that bit where I went wrong and you decided just to go on! Undoubtedly, one of our best days ever in the Lakes. Regards, Ashley and Andrea.

Ashley, they do look a couple of monsters👍 Another superb day☀ for the climb👣 The tarns with the reflections of the clouds were cool👍 Great Gable does look absolutely awesome as does that area of the Lakes. Stunning views back up the valley after your descent. A fantastic days walking👍

Thanks Gerry, we knew in advance that it was really tough but a good weather day can make all the difference. I'm hoping to get across to Slieve League later this month if I spot a good weather day! Probably the most scenic spot in Ireland, in my humble opinion, but you might differ!! Regards, Ashley

Ashley, good weather makes all the difference☀ Slieve league is fantastic (though there are some other cool places too😊) Haven't been there in years, last time there were only 2 cars in the carpark and I don't think it would be like that now😊

It was brutal Simon! but it was definitely worth it and given another opportunity I'd do it again. Alan was great company all day and helped our morale throughout. Thanks for watching, regards, Ashley

@@ashleyjarnold Hi Ashley. We have been doing regular walks on the Simonside Hills in Northumberland over the past couple of weeks. It is a great walk and is local to us. We were there 3 times last week and have been again this morning. We got there this morning at sunrise. It was a stunning morning. have not done any filming, just enjoying the walks. Take care. Cheers. Eddie.
