What an interview! I learned so many things. Piers Morgan just asked all the right questions and Jason Donovan answered them all honestly. Some lessons to be learned here.
Eileen Dillon I've met him and he was so lovely. I was very star struck as I've adored the guy since he was in neighbours. He was doing a book signing of his autobiography and the first thing he said to me was 'hey sweetheart, how are you?' I said 'awwhfjfjfjffjdkfjfjdhdjdndjimokaythanx' I thanked him for his time and he replied 'don't be silly, it's a great pleasure' ❤️😍*swoon*😍❤️
this interview made me cry on his darkest part of his life, made me laugh, made me inspired. his answers are so honest and straight forward, no blah blah. he is the one and only Popstar Jason Donovan. still love him.
What an interview and how honest Jason has been about the good the bad AND the ugly. He’s been through a dark tunnel but come out stronger and more determined as ever. He has such an angel of a wife (even though i envy her like crazy) THANK YOU Ange for all you have done for him, helping him pick himself up again and giving him three gorgeous children. I was always upset n tearful as all my friends went to his concerts except me! I had epilepsy so I was blacking out here n there my mum would say if I went to his concert I “would no doubt collapse” there was no doubt about that as I’m crazy about him (even today) but I’m just happy he is happy that’s what matters.
A friendly down to Earth guy you could enjoy a pint with (or glass of wine) Seems very wise, honest and articulate. which is lacking in a lot of celebrities.
A very good interview: sincere, emotional, sad and funny! He´s such a genuine, honest, down-to-earth guy who seems to have found the right balance in his life... Thanks for the full video!
Jason is a good bloke he has ups and downs like everyone else he an honest, genuine sincere seen him sfew times on tour id always follow jason up he went quiet for afew years now he s back on the scene.he was prob not everyones cup of tea but he was mine brings back some memories
I was attracted to his voice when he sang "Rhythm of the rain" and "Sealed with a Kiss" over the radio. Later when I got to see his face, WOW ! WOW ! WOW ! he is so handsome and charming.
Great interview. I think both Jason and Piers did a good job. Goes to show what a great guy Jason is- especially going through addiction. Thanks for posting!
I never fainted but at one concert Jason touched my hand and I wouldn't wash my hand for a week! I could smell his aftershave, Jazz if I remember rightly
WOW. i absolutely loved him in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and I had to make do with a made for TV production with Donnie Osmond (which is also brilliant) but I have the original sound track and I think he's singing is brilliant. I was also fortunate to see him in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert when it went on tour and I am so happy he got over his struggles and what a joy he brings to people with his talent.
What a great interview! He is so honest and he told some things I never knew. But than, in Holland, after a few years he dissapeared... In his drugsperiod there was a picture in a Dutch magazine and when I saw that picture, I honestly thought he was going to die very young... I am sort of proud of him he gave up the drugs and started looking after himself again! Probably many thanks to his wife Angela!!
jason you were always amazing, , and loved your sexy voice, and you were the most handsome man in the whole world in the end 80s and 90s, a million likes, for all the great and fantastic songs you have given us, for being you, for your charm, your voice, and for being so wonderful. and jason please release your rockalbum all around the world again, it was the best
My friend lived in their house after they did. Here landlord was Terence Donovan. My son went to the same school that Jason attended years earlier, but now goes to the same school as Kylie and Dannii did (Melbourne is a small city). lol
Doubt it - he said it himself, he was jealous of her success and her independence - we’ve all learned that Kylie is in control of Kylie’s career - that’s why she’s having number 1 albums 30+ years later - I suspect Jason, at that time, would’ve done whatever he could to hold her back. Had she not had the strong will to take control of her life, he may not have lapsed I to drugs, he probably wouldn’t have done Joseph, she would not have gone onto the megastar she became when she came back from her indie years and into the 2000’s. They seem to have, eventually, reached a stage of mutual respect and fondness with the one or two things they’ve done together over the years but he must, deep, deep down both regret and be jealous that she, as a result of her defiance of his control, went on to have such a long and diverse singing career - when you look at the body of work she has - her experimental years - her millennium power pop years and her success as a mature artist - her incredible touring success… he must occasionally kick himself…
Oh my God! He still looks sexy! More than when he was younger. I love this man! I love him since I was 10, when "Especially for you" came out in Portugal (1989).
i thing he was sexy in the 80s and 90s, i thing he was the most handsome man in the world in the 90s, and fell in love with his looks and all his songs. but i thing his good looks are gone, he doesnt have whose big beautyful eyes anymore, my openion
That Sam Wright-Jason's manager don't know what she is talking about saying: I would absolutely say that Jason helped put West End theatre back on the map What a load of rubbish shows like:Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, CATS, Starlight Express, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, 42nd Street, Blood Brothers, Chess, Miss Saigon put West End theatre back on the map since the 40's
+mikey p Probably meant bringing theatre to the masses - as in those who weren't particularly bothered about theatre or musicals were interested in checking something out because of it being headlined by a mainstream TV and music star. I do remember at the time the whole 'Joseph' thing got a massive amount of media and news attention in a way that other established and successful productions were not receiving. Claiming it put the West End 'back on the map' is perhaps stretching things but certainly it did establish a huge amount of noise and attention in the press and media at that time.
chip lawson Not being funny but shows like CATS, Starlight Express, Phantom of the opera etc brought it to the masses, They sold million and millions of tickets each year But then you say; as in those who weren't particularly bothered about theatre or musicals were interested in checking something out because of it being headlined by a mainstream TV and music star. but people like Elaine page + Brian Blessed, Paul Nicholas, Talked bout goin in to CATS, Jeffrey Daniels from Shalamar was on TV shows talking bout him being in Starlight Express and Michael Crawford in being the Phantom all created media buzz-TV chat shows/TV adverts, Mags/Papers, Cast recordings, Posters,Merchandise like cups, T-shirts/keyrings of all them shows did that which hyped it up Yea Joseph was really big but wouldn't say it was bigger than CATS/ Starlight Express, Phantom............They made a'lot of noise and media attention just as big as Joseph as it had well known stars of stage and screen You say:Claiming it put the West End 'back on the map' is perhaps stretching things but certainly it did establish a huge amount of noise and attention in the press and media at that time. That was a well over the top and not true comment so she should of kept her mouth shut, I remember my mum and dad said at time they watched this- Has she been living under a rock for 20 + years she is thick!!!
+mikey p Which was my point, I think it made a big noise for a few years (with that annoying number 1 single he had too) and brought theatre to a young audience not interested in theatre - the Neighbours and pop music crowds that were simply going to see JD in it. I wouldn't say it's something to be proud of, but there you go. Joseph during that short period got more intense and incessant attention than I can remember of any other in recent memory, but yeah, it wasn't the most successful musical and the West End didn't need to be put back on a map as it has always thrived (except for the ones that close down!). But yeah I can't remember any musical getting as much attention as that one did. Annoying as it was because it was pretty nauseating (like most musicals).
chip lawson Yea made noise for a few years and had number one single, I wouldn't say for a short period of time as that is a long time! Or did you mean when he left + Philip Schofield took over? You said:Joseph during that short period got more intense and incessant attention than I can remember of any other in recent memory + But yeah I can't remember any musical getting as much attention as that one did. Them shows I mentioned did + esp Phantom of the opera had hit singles and albums in the charts....Had well known people in them and made lots of money- I mean Phantom is still goin now and I heard on radio other day 7 billion people have seen it that is more than earth's population and there is always a documentary on about it and how the musical was made etc - So I disagree that Joseph is the musical that has had the most media attention over any musical ever
my hubby worked at butlins skegness he was the fire officer but they were short staffed one nite on security so he went in i was stuck at home wiv the kids i was still up and he came home and said they had a aussie singer there and he had a stand nxt 2 him he cudnt remenmber hes name but my hubby said 2 me u know who it is he played scott in neighbours i went mad at him i was stuck at home whilst my hubby was stood nxt 2 jason god i was id got a babysitter 4 that nite lol
This is disrespectful exploitation. I'm an American Jason fan who only wanted to know more about the music. His personal life is his own business. I've never done illegal drugs and I don't want to know if any of my favorite singers do or did them or about sexual things.
Did anyone try to count the number of times he said "You Know!"? I love Jason Donovan but seriously why didn't one of the producers try to alert him to his overuse of "you know!" I wonder if he cringes when he watches this. Even the subtitle typers couldn't keep up with them. His kids are adorable, little mini Jason's.
He could basically walk anywhere in the countryside of the US and he could go anywhere without being mobbed because nobody here has ever heard of him he never cought on in the US. New York though would be a different story lol.
About cocaine at 33:50 "It was...For me, I thought it was creative. For me, I could tolerate being with people. Whereas when the attention's on you, and ... you're just sober, you get claustrophobic. Cocaine makes you sort of...the master of the ball, really"
I was empathising with his battle with cocaine until he said I still enjoy a glass of wine. 12 years clean of coke. Addiction. He may have a glass of wine but if he enjoyed it hes bullshitting. Or he wasnt an addict. Im an addict and I can take no drug apart from cannabis/ marijuana which I dont take because I dont like it. If I did I wouldnt do it.
He also said one drug leads to another which is like saying eating a cookie leads to eating cream cakes. When he said he went home after Joseph he would smoke a joint. He said that while rubbing his ear which is one of his lie tells. I'd guess he was on coke since neighbours. What a dick head.
***** Good point. In the end I could see he was bullshittin. It actually Insulted my Intelligence. Good grief If hes gonna lie he could at least have the common decency to do a bit of research and make It plausible. He is a bit of a knob. Loved him here: so humble, honest, wise and with the sense of humour..

Jason is actually a very nice and descent guy.
A friendly down to Earth guy you could enjoy a pint with (or glass of wine) Seems very wise, honest and articulate. which is lacking in a lot of celebrities.
One of the best interview by Piers ... & Donovan
Wow, very good interview! Glad that he's still doing well. He looks good also in spite of what he went through, wow! Good luck to him!
A very good interview: sincere, emotional, sad and funny!
He´s such a genuine, honest, down-to-earth guy who seems to have found the right balance in his life... Thanks for the full video!
Thank you so much for the full video program and for the subtitles!!! Love ya!!

Great interview. Great bloke . So glad he made it through x

I've met him and he is so lovely. And yes if I had the money the list is endless of what I would modify on my body.
Yes I like Jason Donovan
My friend lived in their house after they did. Here landlord was Terence Donovan. My son went to the same school that Jason attended years earlier, but now goes to the same school as Kylie and Dannii did (Melbourne is a small city). lol
He's looking more like his Dad (Terence Donovon) a.k.a. Doug Willis, as he gets older.
GREAT INTERVIEW FOR A GREAT ARTIST
Jason had a fine voice (still does?) That was obvious in Joseph. There will never be a better Joseph. He was the original and the best.
Wow, now I'm a fan.....
You can tell he never fell out of love with Kylie. He still looks so uncomfortable talking about her. I wonder if she ever regrets it.
Doubt it - he said it himself, he was jealous of her success and her independence - we’ve all learned that Kylie is in control of Kylie’s career - that’s why she’s having number 1 albums 30+ years later - I suspect Jason, at that time, would’ve done whatever he could to hold her back. kylie chose her career over Jason!

he is really good in a flim called shadows of the heart
Replaying that quote I gave at 33:50 to 34:16 I just noticed Jason Donovan said "You know" 6 times! in 26 seconds but its not in the subtitles.
I actually listened to it and he says you know and it's about 78 times
Very interesting what he says about his mum. My ex has walked out on me and my two boys and he never bothers with them anymore
subtitles were very distracting!!--------------
Jason is still hot at 45 and my teenage fantasy
I´ve always liked him!!!!
❤❤❤❤Love Jason
Love Jason ❤️

Im sure Neighbours was on at 530 not 6 ???
His wife and kids are gorgeous
Best mske voice in the world fact
Damn, I thought Bruce Willis had grown his hair back for a moment.
Did anyone try to count the number of times he said "You Know!"?

Brilliant
Piers is really good at his job.
oh wow im a fan of jason
He could basically walk anywhere in the countryside of the US and he could go anywhere without being mobbed because nobody here has ever heard of him he never cought on in the US. New York though would be a different story lol.
Jason Donovan
oh thats horrible was it for his career? The woman he married must be very strong!
Jason is so cool and calm here, I'd have been pissed off if famous being questioned by blood Morgan the shark if TV 😮😅
Sealed with a kiss

If he had treated Kyle like she treated him.....He would have been known differently
still very handsome .....
Piers didn't ask about polydor at all. Not fair.
Loved him in Neighbours and all the way through! He turned out just perfect in the end! Obviously I am still waiting for him to marry me!! lol
i have waited since i was 10 years old, and wanted to marry him, , just fell in love with him and all his albums, and still is
I think this guy could make for a killer Joker.

rye catcher

Yep definitely one of The most interesting Life Stories I've seen so far.. least interesting was Cheryl Cole, that one was awful. All she seemed to say was 'no comment'.
Biggest mistake of his life not to do Priscialla Queen of the desert. Now he's doing reality tv. Guess he was to bourgeois to recognize the opportunity and go for it. He's paying for it now.
It would never have worked out for him because of the court case a year earlier about being gay. And the movie would have bombed because of that.
Maybe yes
Helle
Rod Stewart, Elton John, Beyonce.............and now Jason Donovan, what the hell has he achieved to be able to be on a show like this?
He isn't in the same league as those other stars.
A one-time celebrity who now performs his old hits at gay venues to make money.
Probably only did this coz they paid him.....................Please !!!
you are an idiot, if you dont like jason then why do you even comment.
i guess you dont know youre jason story, well. He was called the king of pop, in the end of 80s-1992, he had 4 nr 1 hits, he was outselling eveyone,, he made the biggest selling album in the 89-1990 he had 4 nr 1 smash hit awards,. he had 8 songs on the top 10 list. he was in any live shows, there was jason mania. his concerts was big, and outselling. he was even bigger than michael jackson in the uk, jason was nr 1, michael was nr 2. yes he was big, but unfortunaty he ruined his huge succes with drugs, so yes his succes didnt lasted so many years, but he was huge, and he deserves to be in this show
jdiscool i firmly agree - Dan Frost is an asshole
lol
Buzz
Gosh a real grilling about all his lowest moments. Ugh
Wish they took out that shitty canned laughter.

i don't like piers morgan.
Handsome druggie. Too bad he chose to leave the singing career.
And these days he scrapes a living doing the gay clubs.......
