I do not suffer ignorance lightly but I also do keep it to myself now. It doesn't help to point it out unless someone asks. They have their reality and most do not appreciate any information to the contrary. Of course, ignorance comes with the inability to adapt and a quest to always be right. I choose being happy over being right.

I would have never considered myself a strong person, that’s why I was enormously surprised at what defines a strong person. Ignorant people irritate me, I thought it meant I was arrogant. But the one I relate the most is that superficial conversations bore me. Absolutely. I hate small talk. Wow. You made my day.

Just found this channel and I like it a lot! However in this one I feel point 9 may give the wrong impression to certain people:
People who never really had misfortune in their life will easily think they have a stronger personality than others. They were popular in school through childhood and as teenagers, passed their exams easily and get a good uni degree (because they can replicate their course contents), had lots of dates, married quickly ... you get the picture.
Many of them look down on others who were not (at all) popular, or had a "learning disability" (but actually learn instead of replicate-and-forget!), or ... you know, got abused, had a debilitating disease, a horrible loss and so on.
People who had everything easily early in life have no idea of even the meaning of the word "trauma". Easy for them to say "pick yourself up", or see others with weaker personalities.
Really strong personalities don't self-pity, but don't hate others for it either. Because they have been there and understand where it could come from.
So a strong personality is a mature one then.

I had to become a strong person. I really don't like it that people say I have a strong personality. If people knew the difficulties I have had to face, alone, no help from anyone, it might make more sense. it started when I was a child. My parents were neglectful & abusive. I had to protect my 3 younger siblings from abuse by my parents, often being beaten for protecting them & I was only 8 years old. It went from there.
Having never been taken care of by anyone, have always had to only depend on myself often with others depending on me.
Many people become strong as the only other option is to lay down & die.
Me too, but is it strength or coping-strategies of C-PTSD? We Adult children of dysfunctional families can have a shell of strenth which is not real strength,a pseudo-competence which is really a construction of various conceptions, not of our own, but subconsciously adopted from others in early childhood. Maybe not you, IDK of course. Reality is always more complex and many-fasetted than a short video can be. In teh 12-step program, I learnt that being weak is beng strong (or can be, not in every care of course), because coming into reality and vulnerability at last. I wonder how you have fared and hope you are well now.
@@Medietos I'm sorry you went through that, also. Sometimes I think that because I take calculated risks, it leaves me subject to calamities, yet, most often, it gives good results with fun adventures. The abuse in my childhood, I had no control over that. When I was assaulted while serving in the USAF, I had no control over that. It was the good ole boy network.
When the male I married became abusive, I *DID* have control over that, I got out, had to dig myself out of debt that he had saddled me with while starting over to create a life for myself.
It took time, sweat, work, 10 years in survival mode.
I made it & have a good life, now.
I hope that life is good for you, as well.

People tell me I have a strong personality, and I reply, yep. But... I love Big Brother and am thrilled when I find a fan of the show. I'm kind and gregarious, have deep empathy and I enjoy performing random acts of kindness. I rarely feel depressed and I'm resilient when faced with a challenge. I keep comments to myself, but I'm not a door mat. I believe in boundaries. My technique of getting someone to remain open to me when i need to say something is to start off by saying. Please, don't mind me, I have this way of saying things that seems to piss people off when I don't mean to. Oddly enough this effective. This works. Try it.
Yeah my reasoning for this is because I was once weak but now my goal in life is to become strong

Some decisions can take awhile so might look at various houses and their locations before buying one to be sure make a good deal. You don't want to move into a bad neighborhood or buy an over priced house that is falling apart.

Me i was weak before but i try to handle it until i become strong sometimes we cant judge someone bcoz of thier weaknesses its because even thier own family not supporting them thats y they have to be strong on thier own and thats the most strong person u will know if he or she stand on thier own if no one believes them.

"'With the internet at your hand there is no excuse to be ignorant"... thats is such a double edge sword statement. At face value, I agree whole heartedly! Unfortunately there is something psychological happening where the internet *IS causing more people to act more ignorant. I dont know if it is the need to be the first one to spread some news, and feel 'smart' about that, or the justification for long held beliefs that had no room in society, but now they live in the internet. Basically, the ability to belong (one of Maslow needs). But unfortunately, a river without banks will overflow and cause floods.

Ive often been the first to admit I was wrong. Several bosses have told me that makes me look weak. But those are the ones who could never admit a mistake or apologize . I do not suffer fools however and do not tolerate liars. A RE Agent lied Nd gossipped about me with a neighbor and I never discuss anything about my neighbors with anyone except to say t hey are good neighbors!

Well COVID should be teaching you that what you've just said is not the case. Because millions of families are about to lose their home and become homeless, no fault of their own. 7 out of 9. However I don't agree with 4 -the one I think that you would lose all(or most) your friends if you criticized them too much.
Point 4 is not totally about criticism and the difference between constructive criticism and not constructive criticism, but rather calling out somebody who is talking rubbish all the times. I am not even sure we want to have a friend like that.
What matters is your friends grow and they are more "efficient" in their life. Only we being humbly honest, we can help us. If you love someone, you wish the best for them. Just be loving. 😊
