Most of what I've learned about social media is that trying to argue with someone is akin to arguing with a wall. It doesn't matter if you went to college and are a subject matter expert. There's always someone who will be the poster child for the Dunning-Kruger effect. Removing Facebook and Instagram from my life was one of the better decisions I've made.
I too am aware of the Dunning- Kroger effect. That is why I no longer sell myself short. I know I'm better than I think I am. Just kidding, and I know what you mean.
Facebook is good for finding groups of people with interests like yours. I reject friend requests from people I don't know and occasionally from people I know. I also unfollow most friends and only follow group posts of current interest. Make sure to make it a good use of your time.
On topic: I've had thoughts that confirm those you express here. I even dropped Meta's FB for six months and came back with pseudonym for family and "real" friends only. As for arguing with a wall, I certainly confirm that perspective. I continue to try though because, as Bonhoeffer stated in resisting Nazi power: "To not speak, is to speak. To not act, is to act." Perhaps I will join you in surrender, soon. Now, off topic: I'm also aligned with your perspective on PNW backcountry. Gifford-Pinchot NF and Mt. Adams wilderness is among my favorite places in the world. No need to respond. Just sharing that you make valid points.
It kinda sucks when people you’re close to check most of these boxes. The issue I’ve learned is that stupidity never knows they’re stupid. They refuse to learn and realize that what they do is quite “stupid”. It’s a losing battle trying to help these people.
Wow, I think that I know or am related to at least one person who fits every single one of those categories...And guilty of one or two. Informative and entertaining video!
Thanks for this insightful video. It's both amusing and thought-provoking to see these 20 profiles dissected. While some are undeniably irritating, it's a reminder of the diverse personalities we encounter online. The 'Keyboard Warrior' and 'Anti-Advertiser' stood out for me. Navigating these interactions with empathy and understanding is crucial, even when faced with negativity. Your humorous take on 'Mr. Laughter' was a great way to wrap up the list. Keep up the excellent work in shedding light on such relatable aspects of the online world. Looking forward to more engaging content from you!
Yeah, the "binary-issue" people are annoying... everything is about religion/spirituality.... or everything is about race.... or everything is about politics. Like everyone else, I have my own beliefs within each of those three categories, and sometimes, someone will be making a comment from the side that I'm on... _and it's STILL annoying._ *Not everything is about 'left-v-right'.*
I'm "Mister Serious" due to Asperger's I at least recognize that I often lack an ability to see certain things as funny. I almost need slapstick, puns, or irony to see humor.
What really annoys me every time is the opposite of the grammar-nazi. Whenever people make mistakes on purpose and think it is funny to write like that.
Thank you for Sharing this video!!! I get all 20 of these people making comments on my UA-cam Channel because they look at my 30-60 UA-cam Short videos and then without researching the entire context of the UA-cam Short in which I used my long-form content to make crazy ass comments without proper context. It amazes me how Millennials and Gen Z have been totally disabled by Social Media Platforms and have absolutely no problem making comments on videos in which they have no Professional or Personal Experience in but tell me I don't know what the hell I am talking about!!! Humans are very interesting because so many of them don't have a life outside of the Internet and Social Media Platforms!!!
As a Professional Troll, I focus mainly on local and country politicians and their statements and the comments of what I call "BFF's" (Blind Faith Followers of a particular Party). There is a fantastic and measurable correlation between the number of stupid and utterly stupid comments by said followers and the Politicians they are in love with. The main difference between a professional Troll and a "wanna be" is a Professional Troll will NEVER reply to a comment made about the Trolls comment.
The religious/political and the monothematic are the worst. The are both stuck with one single idea in their head and every conversation leads to that topic. It's like "hey, have you heard that there is going to be a new building in our neighbourhood?" And they go like "yeah, it's gonna have 6 floors, just like the 6 favourite ingredients I use to cook my food" and the go talking about food for the rest of the conversation, if that's their monotheme, of course. And the political religious attribute EVERYTHING to God or the current president. FML.
Oh, boy! I recognize myself in all 20 categories! What am I? Ah! I'm being sarcastic, so this puts me in the "Mr. Laughter" category. I guess this makes me the worst of them all - "The King of Stupidity". Thanks, now I know who I am!
Very well done video!🙂 However, pointing out that everyone should have right to their own opinion in a video about stupidity is not ideal. Everyone should have access to the relevant information/facts. Suppose you're a girl (I don't know if you are or not), and I see 10 guys coming out of your apartment - I can have all kinds of opinions. You can be a language instructor, a ballet instructor, a prostitute or whatever. But people can have false opinions about you, even though they might not know you. The same with "Do you think we will ever go to the Moon?" - "naaah, not in a thousand years" (there were people who were saying this)... "do you study rockets?" - "no" - "what do you know about space travel?" - "not that much" - "then what do you base your opinion on?" Instead of saying "I don't have enough information to give you an answer. It's not my field. I don't know. " people have "right to their own opinion" - you see it *everywhere* on social media, and in real life, and it hurts society no end. Everyone blabbing all the time senselessly about subjects they have no idea how they work or interconnect. Commenting senselessly under scientific-oriented videos without being trained in a given field. I seriously believe this way of thinking is more dangerous than wars, and it holds society back. Because out of it stems conflict, wars, backward thinking, stupidity, and so on. People need education and demonstration of facts in the terms they understand, not the terms you think they understand. People come from different environments, backgrounds, families, different cultures and subcultures - some of them don't have access to good education, no wonder they are considered "stupid". They have ignorant parents, and they usually grow up to be ignorant, unless someone/something took them out of that crappy situation. Some of them might come from rich families, and then they usually grow up arrogant, self-centered, self-important, egotistical, and think they know everything. Because they've been brought up with "everyone should have right to their own opinion". Conditioning plays a crucial part in developing one's value system, behavior, outlook, lifestyle, thinking. Once we start bringing up kids with a value system that they should first examine something using scientific method and then give an *informed* assessment, and even better share the findings about something they've studied, you'll start to see a tremendous social progress on Earth. TL;DR - Ability to say "I don't know" is what's missing. If you don't understand what I'm trying to say, I recommend watching some of Jacque Fresco's lectures.
Thanks for this video. On twitter, I mute most of these profiles and block the trolls . I don't mind the oversharer nor the ones who post on a single theme, however someone who exchanges with me and sounds like a timewaster, I block. My personal profile is I hope decent but probably boring to most people.
I don't know. Just found this channel, with the Why stupid people think they are Smart video. Made me laugh like crazy. Looking forward is more content
I came to this conversation to evaluate my own position in the matrix. I don't see myself exactly fitting any one, though I can detect that my replies sometimes may reflect shades of a few of them. For background, I typically make simple responses sharing my appreciation of the post a "Friend" makes by sharing the good memories the post inspires, or through similar confirmation of the value I find in the post. In contrast, I sometimes respond (only to people I truly care about, not everyone who shares the view) to extremist political posts by pointing out the logical fallacies it contains, or I offer an "inverted" perspective (change name from a right-wing hero to a left-wing hero, or inverse, with all other facts unchanged) to point out the bias I detect. In my mind, I'm offering critical thinking skills or methods to evaluate judgments for validity, but I admit that some may interpret my comments as ego driven. The bottom line: Where do I fit into this matrix? I guess I'll go through the video at least once more, and maybe check a few more such offerings, if I can find any others. Regardless of what I discover, thanks to the content creator for sharing the information.
Well. A lot say comment on here! First. I take it you made this video with sarcasm and irony in mind in the background?! [wink emoji] (as it turned out i can not use emoji's here). Second thing. You are all inclusive here I see. No one left out! [laugh emoji] Third. I wonder about the reason of you making this video. Is it maybe you get a bit fed up with indecencies yourself? (as is completely logical) This one also links back to the first thing. So, I don't know whether it was intended this way, but I can see both the humor and the message in this video! If intended, well done! I enjoyed it! [ flat-hands--placed-on-top-of-each-other-in-front-of chest-emoji] If not, I still enjoyed it...
A few time ago I had one functional illiterate insult me simply because I said “art is not simply subjective”, and for some reason she interpreted this message as if I said that the art on the page sucked. She then proceeded to check my page and insult my art as well, and this according to her, was a proof that “art is always subjective”. Since she decided my art suck, art must be subjective and therefore we keep thousands of artworks in museums just for “subjective” But what puzzled me is that she read my comment as an insult toward her artwork, despite I never said that. 😂 You are wrong by the way, you can use the 😂 emoji on UA-cam ahahahah
I have a type that you forgot to add here and its funny because the creator of this video woukd fall into this category. I call it "The Judge" Think of idubbbz when he did content cop, leafy, moistcritical ect. These people hold the belief that they are not only flawless enough but intelligent enough to critique every other type of person with a level of confidence that shows they think they are omnipotent and probably think they are immune to someone deconstructing their personality flaws. They see themselves as qualified to quantify it too. Like this guy holds the opinion that trolls are only slightly stupid meanwhile a gullible person is extremely stupid its his opinion and yet he presents it as factual
Social media brings out the worst in people. Not excluding myself. I fall into the grammar Nazi and Troll categories. But i dont relate to the reasons that were given for the grammar Nazi. I do it to deliberately be a dick. 😏 Same for trolling, but i only troll those who desperately deserve it.
In the UK, we can have a news article about the inflated price of baked beans. One or more comments will say: “Brexiteers have broken Britain” I would like to promote this behaviour to Emperor of Stupid.
I personally can fit my sell into Trollolo category! But everyone should know we all have utterly stupid moments on the internet, it is like growing up. Some want to grow up and some stay the same for long time.
I enjoy posting and ghosting. After a couple weeks, if need a laugh I will revisit the post and many times all 20, or combinations thereof, will have offered their brand of crap. The threads can go on forever. Sometimes sad, sometimes funny, always entertaining, especially since I never engage with the goons. The way I see it is that my post already stated my point, so why argue with idiots? They’re here for our entertainment.
Right now it haves been 5 years since im living in a country in the Balkans where most of the people i know are one or more of these profiles from the video, before that i have spent 5 years living in a Western European country where basically i never met on of these profiles. Im comparing about 50 people from both countries, they come from same fields of education mostly. Supprisingly i find people from art universities too to be very cringe social justice warriors too.
The "Anti Religionist" bugs me because I am also religious. I love God my own self. But some make Religion look inappropriate and refuse to deal with whatever the subject matter is. I do realize it is possible the world is coming to and end at some point. However they doesn't mean we should stop discussing important issues. Especially moral ones when we might assist others or other ways of showing our love for mankind and God.
I wouldn't consider Mr. Laughter to be that bad on the stupid scale. I kinda always interpreted an inappropriate emoji to either mean they clicks the wrong one, confused it with the crying emoji. Or justbdisagreeing with your statement, but doesn't care to elaborate, because they think that post may be foolish. Of course I might be falling under the not getting the joke trope.
OH OH!! I see myself in so many of these categories! I've made fun of people who tell me the Earth is Flat and George Soros is using space lasers to set fyre to Hawhyee. Now I feel guilt. NOT!!!
Okay 3 minutes in my started to read the first comment. In order to debate or argue with someone there has to be attention being paid. I don't see a lot of that on social media. Unless it's children shows football movies maybe Fox News.
I think most "anti advetisers" are not angry because they must watch a 1 minute add or skipp it, i think but im not sure but most of them are like me thinking: "hey iff i let this fly the next year there will be 2 minutes of unskippable adds on every video" then 3 minutes of unskippable adds on every video, then youtubers them selfs will advertise AND the video will have a 3 minute unskippable add. then half the video will be unskippable adds.... You see the more you let slide the more they will push on you, look at old Cable TV where you have an 50 minute film and there will be 4, 15 minute comerical breaks... Or watch the internet devolve.. pop ups addware, scamware, add e-mails, Oh and the Unkippable youtube adds, because not all of them are skippable, etc etc. This wasnt like this, the net became like this because not enough people got pissed off and did something about this crap... Its a perfect Example of the "slowly cooking the frog" effect... So no im not pissed off at you that you want to make money on a few short skippable adds, im pissed that i know that will escalate into something VERY anoying iff noone bats an eye. But thats just my opinion i understand people need to make a living, i can only hope im wrong and the internet will not turn into an addpocaliptic dystopia of addware even more.
I like comments that elicit genuine human interaction. These types you list do not fall into that category. In my day to day life I avoid these types and do not participate in social media platforms. Thanks for the video I’m sure you are immune to comments that are not edifying in any way. I am going to look at the other videos, bye.
Doesn't everyone fall into one or more of these characteristics on a sliding scale or spectrum to some extent? I am rapidly reaching the conclusion that by merely participating in social media I personally am expressing a considerable degree of stupidity.
I'm somewhat of a grammar nazi, but legitimate things like when someone says, "Could of" when it should be "Could have" or "Could've" if you prefer contractions. If someone makes a simple spelling mistake, I might just say "X is actually spelled Y for future reference". I', not trying to be a prick, they might simply not know, there's nothing wrong with educating people. Of course, they usually get the shits because they don't actually care about the language.

Same here !! Freedom at last!
Good idea

Problem is; If you stop interacting with stupid people, you'll find yourself very lonely and very lonesome, very quickly after.
Pretty sure almost everyone fits into at least one category on this list. This includes You, the Author, and even Myself!
I agree with you! At some point we all get our day in the sun to shine like an idiot!
but we are different strengths of them
This happens not only on social media but also at work, home, everywhere.
My great-grandmother always said "Fools names and Fools faces are always seen in public places.
Now I'm scared to comment. But the video was entertaining and true-ish. So, my comment is just to show support to the channel. 👍❤
Mama said: "stupid is as stupid does"
I've been looking for a video with an analysis like this! Great job....
Oh gawd, the functional illiterate...this is why I clarify a lot of things every time I post something that might be seen or read incorrectly. Ugh!
Wow, I think that I know or am related to at least one person who fits every single one of those categories...And guilty of one or two. Informative and entertaining video!
Thanks for this insightful video. It's both amusing and thought-provoking to see these 20 profiles dissected. Your videos are pure gold man. Keep up the good work!
Your doing grate!
Thank you. You and others can of course lead them to water though right 👍. Just can't make him drink.
@@williampride6008 I already foresee issues in Leading them to water...
I don't know who you are, but you hit so many nails on the head. Thank you for bringing sanity to the internet.
Good job analyzing this and charting it.
We see these characters every day, and having it on a chart helps with recognizing and dealing with it.
I'm laughing so hard I had to rewind three times now. Crucial 😂. Bless this channel
I agree that Mister Laughter is the worst because he's obviously evil, but the Attention Seeker is the most annoying.
I agree, especially since the Attention Seeker types almost always post passive-aggressive things, which drives me crazy.
Great video, bro... I am not even feel annoyed. I just feel sorry for those 20 categories' dude. (Am expecting some Nazis)
Great video, I just found the channel today! Already watch your recommend ones. Food for my brain.
I've been an Oversharer and a Grammar Nazi, but I've gotten better. Perhaps this video will inspire me to do better still.
I'm "Mister Serious" due to Asperger's I at least recognize that I often lack an ability to see certain things as funny. I almost need slapstick, puns, or irony to see humor.
The gullible one = everyone who gets their news from tv.
The gullible one I find most dangerous (outside the internet.) The others can be ignored.
Oh lord, imma go get smarter
Thanks so much for the opportunity to release my anger...but I'm good.
The everything is politics is my pick. Thanks for the video 😂
You think the worst is Mr. Laughter? You couldn't be more wrong. lmfao.
(sarcasm).
Taking drugs, smoking, alcohol abuse, spending money to impress yourself.
Examples of #4: Nearly every single person pretending to be trans for views, likes, and clout
Interesting and hilarious 😂!
Excellent job in categorizing the types of stupidity. Social media has made us much more aware of them!
I'm checking myself here.
What really annoys me every time is the opposite of the grammar-nazi. Whenever people make mistakes on purpose and think it is funny to write like that.
The anti-capitalist subject verge into the Dunning Kruger effect. Research is 101 😂😂😂
Thank you for Sharing this video!!! Humans are very interesting because so many of them don't have a life outside of the Internet and Social Media Platforms!!!
I know this is not comedy but I have never laughed so freely thank you
This is so interesting!❤
I fall into the anti-capitalist category but I don’t bitch about it online. I just live a minimalist lifestyle quietly
Dammit... More offenses are taken in life than are given.
I actually enjoy interacting with trolls who explore an unpopular or creative point of view, especially if they do so respectfully.
Did we make it? Did we make it? Did we make it? 😀
So many things makes so much more sense now. Gathering the pieces falling together.
OMG!! I was laughing my head off listening to this. Because its SO TRUE🤣🤣
13 functional illiterate is a synonym for Politician in much of Europe.
Recently pointed out a spelling mistake on UA-cam. Oops!
WHAAAAT !!!!!
(haha just kidding, thx.)
An interesting video and thanks for posting it as I learned some new things.

Okay so to answer the question at the end I'm still laughing so none absolutely none.. thank you though thank you
Mr Laughter as the top. Excellent choice, thanks. The rest, I can't honestly say I've not been guilty of from time to time.
Very well done video!🙂

As a keyboard warrior I totally agree with your video. LOL
Ooops, am I already a king of stupid because of this LOL sign ?
JJ
Just Joking :)
I think hardline religious people & hardline atheists belong in the same category.
atheism and paganism are religions, you know that right? 😂
Nice and savage at the same time 😂
I've been several of these categories in the past, lol 😅
Thank God I'm now introspective enough to mature.
😂😂😂😂 Loved this 😂😂😂😂 ✔️

im really disapointed, i dident find my profile and i think am stupid. this wwas one of the best vidios i have seen in a long time(love it)
While several things on this list do represent stupidity a lot of these are simply pet peeves, not stupidity
Well. A lot say comment on here!

We all do stupid things from time to time. Some more than others. I myself have been a few of these categories, even though i try my best not to.
I'm 100% sure there will be people who disagree with this video, because they think they're smarter than you.
The acting out make sense for a while now. I might have been rude to some of these people online.

Yikes - time for some self reflection on my part: I have fit into some of these molds far too often.
Oh that's hilarious yet more offenses are taking them given or offered.
I’m probably kinda stupid. But I’m working on it.
Probably the over-sharer and the attention getter are the worst for me. These types of people usually have nothing to offer anybody.
😆😆 - I'm sorry.. I had to do it. great video though, TY
I like to troll all the other types.
Luckily my favourite colour is blue 😂🤣🤣🤣😅😅🤣😂
I'm pretty sure everybody that's on social media from about what 14 on up should probably watch this video.
Purists are infuriating. They try to end any conversation, with their opinion being obviously the final word on a matter-their word.
OH OH!! I see myself in so many of these categories! I've made fun of people who tell me the Earth is Flat and George Soros is using space lasers to set fyre to Hawhyee. Now I feel guilt. NOT!!!
I'm stupid sometimes.
Okay 3 minutes in my started to read the first comment. In order to debate or argue with someone there has to be attention being paid. I don't see a lot of that on social media. Unless it's children shows football movies maybe Fox News.
haha nice 😂
Are you trying to say Hitler was NOT brought back to life... I can't believe it.... you lie!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I think most "anti advetisers" are not angry because they must watch a 1 minute add or skipp it,
i think but im not sure but most of them are like me thinking: "hey iff i let this fly the next year there will be 2 minutes of unskippable adds on every video"
then 3 minutes of unskippable adds on every video,
then youtubers them selfs will advertise AND the video will have a 3 minute unskippable add.
then half the video will be unskippable adds....
I see your point
I'm somewhat of a grammar nazi, but legitimate things like when someone says, "Could of" when it should be "Could have" or "Could've" if you prefer contractions. If someone makes a simple spelling mistake, I might just say "X is actually spelled Y for future reference". I', not trying to be a prick, they might simply not know, there's nothing wrong with educating people. Of course, they usually get the shits because they don't actually care about the language.
Same here.
Im just here for the art
As for "keyboard warrior," it depends on the reason
