- This was on a 2005 Toyota Prius. Screen would not work where you touch it. Cost me $25 for new screen and my time to replace. Same as Lexus and works on many models with touch screen

Using the “ear” to wedge it could be a bad idea because the adhesive is strong and you can very easily break the glass (I just did). I used a butane soldering pen with the heat gun tip and applied heat on low to guide the blade.
Just did the Digitizer swap! Worked great, thank for the this video! Cost me 16€ to get a new one. I have a Pirus 2 Facelift from 2008 with the rear camera assistance. So getting a new MFD would cost a little fortune, even in 2020. Name of the touch screen that worked for me was from banggood / "Navigation LCD Display Touchscreen Glas Digitizer MFD Für Lexus IS GS R Toyota Prius MDF".
Product ID: 1632602 if someone needs it. Thank you again, sooo happy. I checked the old connected BT phone history, all aged back to 2012! I assume it had to be dead for some time.

The dealer quotes over $5000 for a new lcd, and $230 to replace it, even though its a 10 min. job. Car industry is broken.

5:20 mine didn't click no matter how hard I pressed. So the connection was on & off. I super glued it and hope for the best. They really needed to put a better connection there. It's so delicate and weak.

Thank you for the video. But how do you diagnose if it's the screen or the whole unit? Mine started out as no GPS, then no video command, then no radio source button, then no apps, now screen is blank but sometimes everything starts working for a few minutes & then everything goes blank.
Not 100% sure, sounds like your unit might be bad. All mine was doing was not being able to touch it to work
Thanks for posting. Which ebay vendor did you purchase from? What type of adhesive did you use?
I used the vendor that has the cheapest screen, it was around $24. i asked the vendor if they wanted to be part of the video and they said no.... 3M spray adhesive. its a light tacky adhesive.

Any idea if the polarizer is on the lcd or the touch panel? I've got some bad sun damage to my screen and I suspect it's the LCD polarizer. Possibly the plastic of the touch screen has burned?
If it’s really yellowed the actual screen is burned. Need to swap the screen with same unit or similar gen.
Unfortunately I tried to fix my touch screen but didn't work... I bought on ebay my screen made all the steps that you do but it still not working at all. What do you think that could be? Thanks for your help
What kinda adhesive you used to attach the screen
Will this solve calibration issues? meaning, I cant recalibrate it because it is so far off. The dealer says they cannot be fixed at this point.

You can try replacing screen, or by a used unit to install

It was so long ago I barely remember, I know when you touched it the screen was irratic, it was obvious. Other people had them go half black etc…

What kind of glue did you use?
3m spray adhesive, it's a light tacky glue. You can use any pliable adhesive
@@dtmxing I don't see any spray adhesive being used in this video- where does that factor in?
Do you need to glue it if the bracket holds it?
Will replacing the Digitizer cure a dim MFD?
The screen on my mfd is very dim. Would this repair fix that or just the touchscreen part?
That might be a problem in the board itself, unless the the dimmer is down and screens will not allow you to brighten
