- After leaving the last video on a cliffhanger, we actually just had one of the trim pieces resting on the wiper lever🤦🏼♂️ So that means we wired everything correctly on the FIRST TRY!
I am super happy with the end result and this double din touchscreen CarPlay radio from Pioneer definitely transformed the whole driving experience. Having all of your favorite apps displayed on this large, easy to reach screen has a convenience factor that I never want to go without and I can't wait to use it on these long trips.

i never thought i would want a Tesla"cough"... my touch screen DVD player wouldn't let me watch movies while my car was running without the e-brake ground hooked up. ended up permanently grounding the e-brake ground so the radio always thinks i'm parked.
Do not Call your Prius a Tesla those are court-martialing offenses and you will be thrown out of the Prius club! Love your work though keep it coming.

Looks like a factory installed piece! I gotta research bcuz its time I upgraded my 01 Mustang's 6 Disc player since the discs dont work anyhow. But I have a Samsung and android.

Seriously, this was v helpful. Dunno that I'd change the radio out for another radio but the wiring and install were v interesting. (Although the apps alone probably make THAT radio worth it).
Every time I watch 1 of these Prius build videos I learn more about the ins and outs, its nooks and crannies

Dam man! I'm a little jealy!! 😜 So whats in your Prius for a motor? My Prius C has the 1.5L and is gutless but still fun to drive funily enough! Funily, is that a word? 🤔🤪 Actually, it's one of the most fun cars I've owned. I think it's knowing all the money I save in gas and oil changes that gets me all excited... I took a round trip with my brother last summer which was about 20hr round trip and roughly 1600 kms. I was able to make the trip for just under $100 with mine! That was pretty amazing! Something else is after putting 12000 kms, I got my synthetic oil changed and the mechanic told me my old oil looked as good as the fresh stuff he replaced it with! The thing could have easily doubled the kms with no problems.. Love my Prius so far! Keep up the great work! 😎🤙
Great job and congratulations on the installation. I have a 2014 Toyota Prius base model. I am experiencing issues with my radio. Audio is not coming out of the speakers. So I don't know if it's the radio that needs to be replaced or the speakers. I took it to the Toyota dealership and they don't even have a clue. 😃

Climate control on a Prius is controlled with physical buttons, the only things I could think of would be audio controls, backup camera, or car settings (like car headlight settings (when they turn off after turning car off))
Is there any way to make the real camera to work? And where did you get the trim?
Hey! So I have a 2010 toyota prius and have been searching all prius forums and it led me here. I dont have a Tesla but wanting to see if you have feedback for the prius. The pioneer aftermarket is now discontinued so i wonder if you got feedback about this from 2010 prius users? can you link the amazon for both this aftermarket screen update PLUS the wires/extra stuff needed that I would take to a shop to get them to install?

Thank you so much for the video! I have a quick question. For the steering wheel controls on the Prius, there is a control pad on the left side (for radio volume, input etc) and a control pad on the right side (for odometer/trip odometer, climate controls). I understand you lost the radio steering wheel controls by changing the radio, but what about the steering wheel control pad on the right side? Can you still reset the trip odometer etc? Thanks again.
There's an extra wiring conversion harness that allows you to connect the steering wheel.
He says at the end of video it's hundreds or something, but I think you can get it at Walmart for under $100. I forget the part number, but if you need I can look it up
But to more directly answer your question (outside of losing your stereo control on your steering wheel): I believe they are separate wiring harnesses. The stereo controls (left side) go to a plug behind the radio he didn't include. The dash controls (right side) run directly into the dash. Unless you damage the wires during dash removal somehow or otherwise short something, controls for the dash should still work.
Did you ever have any success getting your SWC odometer controls to work on the right? I did this install recentally and as far as I can tell you these controls run directly into the stock head unit.
Did you need any adapters or did it work with stock wiring?
Will you still be able to check the trip/mpg/ oil maintenance reset?

Recently purchased a 2022 Prius and my voice is not heard using Android Auto; the dealership says its my phone(Samsung Note 9), not the car. They recommend getting an updated phone. The whole thing just sucks!

The wires may be different (not matching colors) and you may need to buy a conversation kit, but yes. Would suggest a mechanic do it.
Not really much a reason to spend that money, the stereo system on the model 2s are horrible.
Just finished installing a pioneer mvh-av251bt in my 2013 Prius went with the PAC SWI-RC Steering Wheel Control Interface

I want to install an aftermarket radio on my gen 3 prius but I'm worried about losing the ability to self diagnose from the factory radio. Does anyone know if you would be able to keep that option with a aftermarket radio?
