Mine has 277k and I just changed my trans fluid myself. A lot of good videos on that. Its been a few days and no problems at all. Hardest thing was loosening the hex drain plug. I should've used an 18 inch socket arm. I used a standard. One thing I did do first was spray both bolts with WD40. As far as the injectors I just bought a bottle of multi system Gumout. When you're at 1/4 tank pour it in and then fill the tank. Supposedly good stuff to loosen deposits in the injectors.
My 2008 has 227,000 miles….I bought it 7 years ago with 100,000 miles…Iv’e achieved 55MPG in prime conditions….It still runs very smooth…I should do the plugs and clean the mas airflow as well….But I am very happy with it with no mechanical failures….

Oh also, topics covered were exactly what I was looking for, good shit. Ima try and tackle these. @@michaeldautry Hello, Stick to the basics of searching for a parasitic draw if there are no codes related to relay issues etc. these are tough issues to track down
@@michaeldautry I would recommend turning off your headlights before you turn off the engine. That helped me. next thing that helped was attaching a battery tender to trickle charge my battery at night. A lot of problems went away after that, 12V issues, fuel showing low too fast, etc
You can get a compression tester cheap at any auto parts store, all you have to do is unplug the relay for the fuel pump, unplug the coils, and take the spark plugs out one at a time to put the compression tester in there. Definitely good to check that before you start other work on the engine.
I'm glad to see your sharing. I have a question. My car is a Prius 2005, but recently there is a problem, that is, every time I turn on the lights at night, the dashboard of the car will be completely off. It used to be normal when it only reduced the brightness, and it was displayed normally when the lights were turned off. I would like to ask if you have any way to fix this problem, or make a video tutorial, then I will be very grateful for that. Thank you!
Dear Drew I recently bought an ‘07 Prius 57k miles. The first thing that went wrong was the gas fill problem so I had Toyota put in a new tank. I wouldn’t have done that except they told me the battery was ok. After that I was driving the car and all of a sudden the red triangle went on and the car shut down and could barely limp on to the flat 😮bed. After two days of sitting I went to start it without anybody touching it and it ran fine. I then drove it about 400 miles until the dash lights went out and it didn’t start when I pushed the start button then it did after another try then it wouldn’t shut off by pushing the button. Again the car sat for another two days I started it and it ran fine. A salesman at Toyota told me over the phone that the car rebooted itself but couldn’t give me any further explanation. I took it to a repair shop and in addition to the key fob being erratic with the doors, the dash lights going out again and then automatically turning on again, and the abs light go on only after 55 mph and shutting off below 55 mph the repair shop told me it was the battery that was causing this. Indications that make me skeptical are the mileage and the fact that it’s registering 46mpg. Anyway if you’re reading this I ‘d appreciate any thoughts you might have. Thank you, van. 8:21
Yikes I’m sorry to hear all of this. That’s WAY too many things - unrelated things - to connect to each other and point at one or two common problems. I would be stumped even with the car in front of me The Guages going in and out and power button needing to be held is the capacitor in the guage cluster. Very common. The other stuff isn’t away to pinpoint without the car in front of me
Where is your shop located,or if too far would you know of any Prius mechanics closer to my area that you could recommend? Thank you for your attention and any help you might give. One particular question, what or how could my 07 Prius shut down with the emergency triangle light on driving on the highway to barely able to limp on to the flatbed and two days later after sitting start up and run fine? Someone told me it rebooted itself someone told me it can’t reboot itself. Is this or could this be battery related? One mechanic told me he wouldn’t diagnose it any further until he could program a spare key which he hadn’t been able to do after trying with two after market keys ( fobs) and one Toyota key (fob). Thank you again, van.
