I'm surprised it made the trip. Wow. Reminds me of the 69 Camaro my brother bought once. It was 98% bondo. A complete rust bucket. But he managed to get it road worthy and drove It for several years. So, yes, anything is repairable. Good luck with it!
The three rangers I've had were never had rust that bad and two of them spent all of their lives up here in Pa. But I do know that the leaf spring hangers are a weak point on these when it comes to rust.
You think that's bad? You should see my 86 F150. Floor pans? What are those? Somebody put sheet metal across the rear besides to cover up the rust... this is mild
Jay Smart in my opinion this truck ( great colour and good looking) is toasted. All the mounts are gone, there is rust everywhere. If you have in the yard a good Ranger...all is a lot simplier and faster. But there is a lot of work to do in it.
I thought I was looking at a New York State truck that's been out in the salt every winter. Fixable, sure, but surely there are better ones to start from down there. Find one with a blown engine and a good body/mounts and switch over the lift, tires, etc.. Now,, what I'd be interested in is that maroon/silver Chevy G20 conversion that I catch a glimpse of way off to the right of this truck, can see the top of it at about the 8:00 mark.
This pile of junk did some in the salt belt somewhere. I see this all the time up here in Wisconsin. The issues with this one are why almost all of these have vanished from northern roads.
Hey Jay, surprise him by giving him your Sonoma!!! There's great reward from giving. :) Afterwards, scrap this death trap. He's better happy than dead.
George has bought himself a hobby. Or I guess he is in the best place to get parts, but DANG !! Lol Take JAy with you nest time George !! Lol When young we all make trades like that I guess too.. :)
Oh well, at least the body isn't all out of line because the frame is bent, just that the body mounts have gone so the body isn't attached any more... I think you're going to be doing a good trade in Ranger parts for a little while...
was it a coastal vehicle that received ocean salt water? I would transfer the whole truck to a new no rust/rot frame or sell the blue Sonoma to your friend.
It's doable, but until the chassis work is done, I'd almost be afraid to take a sudden turn in it for fear the cab would just roll off the chassis and I'd be on my side in a ditch while the rest of it just kept on truckin' without me.
If the drive line is in good shape the find a rust free 2wd and swap the 4x4 stuff over. I bought a 99 Ford Explorer 4x4 4.0 with 113k miles on it thats got rust problems as well that I'd like to swap over to a rust free truck but don't have a place or time😢
Take all the good parts off and scrap it... One trail this thing is crunched. Especially in north Carolina you can find clean truck for cheap we don't have have that luxury in Ohio... even we would scrap that bucket here
It does look a nice truck, but in essence it's a what you call, a good from far, far from good truck, but it doesn't look too hard to fix though, and will be a nice truck then.
Well Pennsylvania said it is a fail for inspection my neighbor had a 1999 ranger xlt 4wd and white first owner treat it like crap didn't care and my neighbor is the third owner and he sold it to someone else and it is dumpster on wheels and he found a way to pass the inspection and yet it back bumper is hanging by one fastner and it been sitting for more than 3 months
As much as I love this style of Ranger these were very prone to rusting out underneath especially the frames. Definitely Not worth saving could become very dangerous on and off road for your friend. It could be fixed yes, but itll need a ton of TLC. I bought a 2000 Red Ranger XLT supercab 2wd looked pretty nice and I liked it ran good, had a good transmission too but the rear of the frame was practically gone couldn't believe how a big dealership could sell trucks like that and mine wasnt the only one they tried selling like it either with bad frame issues.
So instead of putting a cheap 350 in his truck, he bought a money pit of a ranger. Not worth doing with that much rot. Just chalk it up to a bad day and go put an engine in the chevy. And I'm a Ford guy.
@@1leggeddog . Why not get a donor with a better body and frame with a dead engine and swap the drive train. It be faster and easier have a better truck.
Would of just put some marvel mystery oil in the 350 and drove it my 350 has had a lifter tick and i used some seafoam and some mistery oil and she now runs with no tick
That truck don't look like it is in that bad of shape the body is good all it needs is a new chassis and mount the body tires motor and transmission to the be chassis. Put the springs and shocks also on the new chassis and you have yourself a good truck. Sincerely Robert Gildea Elmira NY
you can't tell me that this thing is legally allowed to drive on the road. This thing looks like it would already have failed it's previous safety test here in germany (Has to be done every 2 years, otherwise it's illegal to drive the car).

someone paid for that?????? they scrap way nicer trucks then that swisscheese mobile.
I agree, its scrap. Easier to just start again on a new truck.
I'm wondering what these ares look like on the outwardly rotten northeast Ohio trucks around here
open all body mounts and launch it up a ramp see if frame and body separate midair
frame is twisted and body mounts racked.............ugggggggggggggggggh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It probably would have been easier to swap out the 350. But as you said everything is fixable.
I'm surprised it made the trip. Wow. Reminds me of the 69 Camaro my brother bought once. It was 98% bondo. A complete rust bucket. But he managed to get it road worthy and drove It for several years. So, yes, anything is repairable. Good luck with it!

That truck is still clean we're I'm from
The three rangers I've had were never had rust that bad and two of them spent all of their lives up here in Pa. But I do know that the leaf spring hangers are a weak point on these when it comes to rust.
Remove the good parts and scrap the rest. Is too rotten
so what... save the headlight bulbs and radio walk away from the rest of it XD

Good thing I know about body mounts. I’ll be sure to check for small things like that when I get my first vehicle.

It's crazy that you get more rust in north Carolina , than we get in western Canada . Where i live we get very little snow , but lots of rain .
Now that's were two fools met and swapped problems 😱
Part out to a rust free 4x4?Do you have a good shell that kind?

repair it as best you can and post a video!
Call Jay BEFORE you buy! Lesson learned. That Ranger has one foot in the grave and the other chained to a box of money.
Guess there's no quick fix for that huh?
Everyone makes mistakes. Hopefully with Jays help, he will get everything fixed on it and it will be a lot safer to drive.
I see that Plymouth Sundance, in the background, from older video. Is it a yard runner?
It looks good from a distance for as bad as it is. Painful way to get there, but on the plus side it found it's way to the scrapyard.
I love those tires.

if it runs and its paid for , drive it till its dead , then sell it for scrap ;-)
Honestly just replacing all the cab/body mounts and that truck won't be half bad. I'd get that all replaced before driving it too much
My cab mount broke once not that bad a replacement but the ratchet strap is pretty sucky of a fix
Damn....was that stored in 4 feet of ocean?

love the tires though
I had a 2000 Silverado had 284,000 miles on it 3rd water pump gave out had antifreeze in my oil was tired of putting money into it so I junked it
Good lord the best thing about it is the tires! They’re worth more than the truck is smh I would of never made that trade

I'd probably put some new body mounts on it, but why would someone lift a 2WD truck that much and put off road tires on it?
Hope you like rust repair, i wouldnt drive it untill all the mounts are replaced. Id look for a less rusty truck.

Make it Rally Truck!!!!
Do stunts in the yard with it
Id pull that motor and transmission and put them in a 4X4 model that needs them and crush the rest of the truck
That thing shouldn’t be on the road . Don’t make any hard turns the body might continue going straight.
The cooler in the bed is worth more than the truck😂😂
The lights and tires are worth more than the truck. I would try to fix it, but I wouldn't dump a ton of money into it.
do a repair vid on ghetto fixing the body mounts and drive it!
What Were You Expecting from a 90's Truck?
You can find many 90s pickups in far better condition than this. This is just someone's problem their trying to unload onto someone else.
Uh, my 80's Truck looks brand new by comparison. This is just a mess someone didnt want to deal with anymore

Glad I live in southern California. My 58 CADILLAC, and 68 mustang look like new, including undercarriage. Both lifelong so, cal cars.

I don't know why the music that plays when a deal goes bust on' Let's Make A Deal', keeps running in my head.
Weld it up! This frame stil won't bend like a Chevy Colorado lol
I'd fix it up.
get the body off, weld in some new mounts and fix up the rust and it'll keep going forever
Not worth it. You can buy a clean one cheaper than it would cost to fix this one.
