That brings up a point I've wondered about - seems like basically all modern F1 drivers learn to speak relatively fluent English, even though only a minority of them are actually Anglo. I wonder - is that like a prerequisite for making it big in F1? Presumably they have to communicate with engineers and teams and media and so forth, that often hail from all around the world, with English as the common tongue. Makes me think that a skilled and talented driver who just can't get his head around learning a new language might be excluded from a professional career as a result? Or are there exceptions that prove this assumption of mine to be false? Or is it just that Europeans generally just kinda know English and once they get into pro racing their language skills are honed just by being around so many anglos and english speakers? Not to mention that high level motorsport drivers are kind of geniuses in a way, so they're the types to be able to learn new things quickly and effectively. I guess a lot of international high powered careers are like that, but I'm just curious if that's something aspiring drivers are conscious of. Seems like there are teams that simply wouldn't be able to work with a driver who isn't functionally fluent in English.
@@SquareNoggin I think in europe (mostly Western) english is taught to a majority of the population because of its use internationally (The Dutch have like a ridiculously high percentage of non-english people who can hold a converstaion in english, it's like 95% or something). If you weren't brilliant in it, of course they would give you a bit of slack while you're young but you would have to quickly learn since most F1 teams are based in the UK, hence they speak english. @@winkyben69 No not really mate 1+1 is defined to have a value of 2, which is an ingrained, unambiguous mathematical definition for such a sum (unless you were conducting analysis or attempting to build up mathematical axioms from related disciplines such as logic), which we are taught and can recall from preschool. In a similar fashion, the drivers were expected to recall the definition of the term understeer here, which Stroll unsurprisingly attempted deplorably. As it is a concept that can be defined and broken down, an explanation can be formed, unlike that of your example.

From the smal amount of engineering I can remember, the "apex" is the point in the corner from which you will get the biggest turning circle beginning from the outside, therefore the most possibility for higher speed. But it will also give you the longest possible line, meaning that the cars exceed the actual length of the track because they prefer the higher speed vs shortest way.

Yes
As a new person i so agree
@@faatimahabrahams8212 i got into f1 3 days ago, bit my ADHD made me hyperfocus on it so I already knew everyone 😅😅😅😅

Carlos Sainz finally having the screen time that he deserves

carlos sainz got more screen time in this video than whole of last season

Only Indians understood this lol
Kimi: 'ffs points were easier back in the day'
"Why do they have to change them so often? Every 20 years they change them for no reason at all..."
@@cinegraphics , to be fair to Kimi, the points system had only changed once in 52 years years (changing a win from 9 to 10 points). And in his career they've significantly changed the scoring system twice, and then last season they added the fastest lap point.
I just like how they are forced to be in their team suit for this.
That's cuz they shot this right before testing sessions I understand why u think that LOL (I know because my dad was one of the filmsmen behind the scenes and I got to go there)
Liberty Media are doing an incredible job introducing the F1 to a whole new generation of kids and literally the own drivers explaining them how is this motorsport world
Lewis always sounds like a preacher, such a calm and gentle voice
Everyone except Raikkonen: passionate explanations.
Lewis: Charming and simple presentations on subjects.
Stroll: “Understeer is [..] when you understeer” 👏👏 (every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes)
Okay, but it's understandable from their point of view. It's like asking how to calculate 1+1 for them. You exactly know how it works, but you can't explain it.
Gasly: Apex is the point where you have to reach in the middle of the corner, which is most of the time the apex”
*angry lance_stroll_no1 noises*
together we can stop this
@@winkyben69 No not really mate
1+1 is defined to have a value of 2, which is an ingrained, unambiguous mathematical definition for such a sum (unless you were conducting analysis or attempting to build up mathematical axioms from related disciplines such as logic), which we are taught and can recall from preschool.
In a similar fashion, the drivers were expected to recall the definition of the term understeer here, which Stroll unsurprisingly attempted deplorably. As it is a concept that can be defined and broken down, an explanation can be formed, unlike that of your example.
Carlos Sainz and George Russell are surprisingly really good at explaining all the concepts
In the words of Jeremy Clarkson: *SPEED AND POWAH*

Magnussen really nailed understeer and oversteer explanation though (6:10)
can we just take the time to acknowledge that carlos was the best at this?

I mean English is also his first language as far as I know so that makes it easier for him compared to others

Daniel Ricciardo explaining the apex is about the most serious I’ve ever seen him 😂
From the smal amount of engineering I can remember, the "apex" is the point in the corner from which you will get the biggest turning circle beginning from the outside, therefore the most possibility for higher speed. But it will also give you the longest possible line, meaning that the cars exceed the actual length of the track because they prefer the higher speed vs shortest way.
