Just started the ketogenic diet for bipolar. I must have massive brain inflammation and mitochondrial malfunction. Very difficult to sleep even with 10mg of melatonin. Been abused by psychiatry for too long

Vit d, vit c, magnesium will reduce the inflammation step by step. For me I felt better after Ramadan (fasting month for muslims). So for you you can try fasting two or three days. If you can do more because when you fast you give time to your body to clean everything. Do exercice as much as tou can but go slowly don t force your self. Hi Doc, this is Olivia thank you. There is a few things I'm doing right already. I don't do processed or refined sugar, I am also dairy and wheat free. I am not vegetarian or vegan. I get my sugar from the fruit I eat. I just need to be consistent with exercising. The symtoms you explained is what I have. I have seen a doctor and was prescribed - Ivedal, Rivotril and Exinef since last year November. I am still taking the Rivotril to make me sleep, I tried to ween myself of with half tablet and then no tablets, that didn't last long the second night my brain just couldn't settle down. I was so tired, my body was relaxed but my brain just could shut off. I am really struggling with the sleeping, I can do the relaxing. The doctor recommended I see a psycologist, which I am but I know there is something not right. The head pressure is so bad, that my nervous system feels its on high alert. I get shivers through my spine when I hear birds, cars, sounds of any kind. I am walking around with earphones to block the sound. Is there maybe anything I could do, or could Doc advise what to do. I am so tired and this makes me depressed. Oh before i end off, I am on thyroid medication (Eltroxin 0.25), last result was normal. Thank you for your support in advance.

One more thing, would normal levels of crp / C3a and C4a rule out brain inflammation? I.e does every person with neuro-inflammation necessarily have high inflammatory biomarkers?
In my restricted understanding, inflammation of the brain is unique compared to other parts of the body due to the highly complex nature of microglia activation as well as the blood brain barrier gate-keeping role. I do feel like shit for a few weeks and I thought that it would be inflammation or autoimmune related but with these 3 markers being normal, it's conflicting data. Perhaps an mri would be more definitive.

@@thejdocrealminute4648 Hello, and thank you for replying. I've been suffering from brain inflammation for over 3 years now, this is due to extreme stress and allergies to food. It's a vicious circle - I suffer with horrible brain fog, brought on by foods of all types (for example, I can eat one small bit of an Apple, it will make me dizzy and angry) its so strange. Everything seems to make me dizzy, give me brain fog - this in turn makes me stress, which increased the intense feeling of a burning inflamed brain. I have the following symptoms:
      * I wake up in the middle of the night with internal tremors - every night, its like when I sleep my body, or CNS goes crazy - have zero control over it
      * I cannot get songs out my head, even though I have not listened to them
      * My memory is awful, my ability to retain information is nearly zero
      * I get suicidal thoughts, like sharp daggers, spamming me with horrible thoughts - even though I don't want to act upon them :)
      * I get my pleasure in anything - sex, gaming - having a drink. It appears as if my Dopamine/Serotonin levels are zero, like my brain has stopped producing them
      * I get what feels like burst of anxiety over the smallest things - feels like an injection of cortisol in my stomach all the time
      *Permanent tinnitus
These are just a few of my symptoms - I'm 44 years old, unemployed and used to be in IT, but have forgotten everything, I'm trying to learn it all again, but I cant because of constant brain fog.
I cannot take any minerals or vitamins as this makes the brain fog, burning, worse - in fact, I cannot seem to eat anything without it giving me brain fog - I'm foggy 24/7 and have been for over two years solid.
I have had allergy tests, I've stopped eating dairy, gluten, citrus fruits, vitamins, normally I can eat something and within 10 seconds feel a wave of fog come over me, its that quick and reactive. My brain is so reactive, I feel this is because of changes made by cortisol over the years. I do not have any early signs of dementia though. I forget where my keys are, but I know what they are for, if you get me.
I know this is a lot - but, my fear is that the constant release of cortisol, stress, with blood inflammation brought on by foods - over the years, has done permanent damage to my brain/white matter/Hypocampus.
So, I was wondering if at my age, can it be reversed. I'm relatively fit, I'm going to mediate every day, stop all bad foods - do brain training and try to have a more positive outlook on life.
I really need help, but my doctors basically laugh at me. I cannot take any meds, as again they always seem to make my brain fog worse.
So my question, its it possible to regain my brain, so to speak with positivity, meditation, yoga - eating the right foods?
Did a CRP test yesterday to confirm I have no blood inflammation - but blood inflammation and brain are separate?
Do I need to eat the right foods, to stop the blood inflammation, stop with the stress to stop the cortisol spinning wheel of doom. Will my brain clear after that, is it early enough to repair damage done so I do not end up getting early stage dementia..
Lot to chew on there, and I dont blame you for ignoring this reply :)
      Thanks

Then the swollen nerve may burst and it may leads to immediate death. The Doctor told her to avoid all the mental stress, and gave her some pills which will help her in keeping her mind in normal state. Hi Doc! Completely at my wits end. React to nearly all supplements and foods. Even if something helps, within a day or so it's ineffective. It's like my body tries to fight it off or something.
No sugar or grains in diet.
    Me/Cfs for 40 years.
Stage 3 liver cirrhosis and congestive heart failure (no doubt due to past diet - as I was too weak to cook or chop up Real Food) so lived purely on junk.
Heart meds made me virtually unable to function at all .. gave them the flick .. situation improved.
No medical help except painkillers for migraine. Recently a report came out regarding "too much glutamine" in the brains of CFS patients. Apparently an amazing supplement helped with this - but the cost is way beyond my reach, considering high doses are apparently needed.
Sleep has been virtually non existent most of my life due to stress, PTSD etc ..
Bedridden except for some light walking around the house - which then exacerbates the symptoms.
Low vision and inability to focus for long.
In the meantime when possible, I practise relaxation/meditation lying in bed - and into healing and self-growth. Has definitely helped with depression.
Any final words on what could possibly benefit yours truly here? How to turn off "stress hormone?"
Sorry to have talked your ear off! 😅
Edit: Oh yeah .. on anti-inflammatory diet. Less pain but no improvement beyond that. Thanks.

I forget which amino acids there are several researched with mixed results. Look into the research and try some at high doses. Also niacin B3 at high dose theorized to reduce ammonia. And there is stuff to do to help the liver. NAC. High protein. Low carb. Will increase blood filtering ability of the liver.
