My big bro, suspecting I would say that, also installed the original and when I saw the graphics I was like "Oh my god wth is this!?" 😆
I can't even remember how I passed original Diablo... still have the disk (won't play on new version-ed computers). Not only graphics are hell.. where to go, what to do is so unclear...

One of the few games were the sequel was so much better than the first instalment. (not trying to diss D1 here but D2 has been one of those few special games that you'd only come across once in a lifetime).
This is a good comment. Even I cannot say I'll only play on old graphic... and I always tell people how the tactic to leave some things to imagination is more powerful to make things real(the mood, story, the significance of skills etc) than revealing everything with good graphics..
D2R is probably what every remaster from this now on should aim for. The visuals are literally 99% on point. The colors, the animation, the hud, everything. Plus they do balance updates for a game that has been optimized to it's limits by players over decades.
My god, fanbase are so trash.. We wanted an update on D2 and they gave it to us.. quit your yapping. The Updated graphics looks amazing and hopefully it'll bring in more players from the new generation

I played original D2 and D2 lod religiously, and while the graphics wasn’t as bad as what they are made out to be, they simply wasn’t as good as what they are now? The details are finite of course, but new technology has provided a better image, that’s just inevitable. It felt more atmospheric back then but idk man, I think we just all have rose coloured glasses on, I’m having a lot of fun on D2r again at the moment -servers are quiet, game runs smooth, it was a pretty seamless transition to get here and I couldn’t go back to original if I wanted to now lol

The emulated classic in the Diablo 2 remake makes the original look much worse than it was. I own the original, downloaded off installer from bnet, and it’s night and day!
Lol they turned all the shaders off that was instituted in the og legacy to make it look worse. Go into your setting and turn the shaders on to see what it actually looked like. I still have LoD and when I first turned legacy on in D2R I instantly knew something was wrong because I played LoD the day before... Theres 0 shaders being applied to legacy. That's why it looks so bad in this clip.
You obviously don't know if you install d2 Lod it doesn't even look half that bad but why tell you have no idea... They dumbed down d2rs legacy mode to be able to run at max non lag behind it so it's not even HaLF the truth.
As far as I’m aware, beside a weird face model of Amazon and Assassin, it’s a massive upgrade to the game Basically Warcraft 3 Reforged but not being backstabbed by the higher up
Its not the ideal old school way it looks. They use the most awful shader for you to have a more wow effect by swapping back and forth. If you played vanilla a bunch you would know :)

If you look at gameplay clips from the original Diablo 2, it didn't look that bad. Maybe an 800x600 CRT monitor would do the trick. 😁
I think they toned it down to make it run better with the new gfx overlay it def looked a bit better than on d2r legacy graphics
Vanilla D2 didn’t even support 800x600 😢 it only supported 640x480
I only played the switch version, and mostly on handheld Mode but i have to say the older graphics look very good. Very atmospheric

Does anyone know how man skeletons you can have with a necromance? It taps out at 20 points but google said you can have 20 skeletons. Is this true?
No. Long time ago you had 1 skeleton for every point. Later you get skeleton every 3 levels I guess
you can just google Diablo 2 Resurrected Skill tree calculator, you'll find all the info there.
