That British officer who got the VW plant back up and running was Major Ivan Hurst of the Royal Engineers…….a man all us VW nuts have much to thank for!
Indeed, and well said, thank you! I misspoke by referring to a ‘officer’ as a generic term for member of the army, you’re correct that he was a Major. Thanks!
Finally information about the brown Golf VI!. Didn't know that it had a VR6 in it. You should have taken a look inside, completely covered in leather. Dream car!
Awesome stuff !! I love Vdubs !! My first car out of college was an '85 GTI, got me hooked on VW's for sure. I have an 08 Touareg V8 w air suspension, it is a BEAST !!! I buy all my parts from FCPEuro !! Keep em coming dude, you have great knowledge of brand, impressive
So cool! The blue beetle RSI is the only one, the rest were all silver. It was built for Ferdinand Piech. Also the WRC 6r polo that you said was a sticker pack actually are pretty cool, they have a 2.0tfsi EA113 engine
This is so good to see how people at vw used to just get what they wanted in their cars, I’m surprised a couple aren’t there, the 2015-17 polo gti I thought would be being the last manual polo gti, the WRC polo is also cool and quite rare, 2.0 turbo from the golf making it the most powerful production polo still to this day.
I drive a GTI and all but am not a die hard VW guy. That said, this is an extremely exciting room of cars. Def the most exciting room of VWs I've ever seen.
Hey my Quantum!!!! Lol had an identical us spec white one @11:15 just caught a glimpse lol. Miss that car. That whole building had to be just mind blowing to be in 🙌🙌🙌🙌
This looks so good, they should open a museum of all the VW's from old to new with one offs, concept designs, racing and so on along with everything else, haven't seen any of the old VW vans or such, but hope they preserve them all, lol
As a MK3 Syncro owner, i'm surprised by the lack of a MK3 Syncro. :/ It was basicaly what became the Golf R if you think about it. The MK3 Syncro came from factory with the GTI 8V engine. And no VR6 either. And no VR5. Or even the GTD's. They are lacking quite a few important models.
Polo WRC wasn't just a sticker kit, check the FIA homolgation docs. Also, that orange off-roader was the precursor to the Touareg Dakar programme, so a pretty significant car as well.
You’re totally right on the Polo WRC street car - and I should have given it more of a nod. I just always wish it looked ‘cooler’ on the outside, to match the engine, seats, and other fun things it got. Just a personal opinion, and I’m probably wrong about that 😅😅 The owners are awesome, I saw a gathering of them in Wolfsburg at the GTI Festival there, and it was a very impressive display 😀
@@JamieOrr the Polo WRC edition uses a different front bumper as well. WRC rules call for the same (external) total length on the road car as the racecar. So VW made this limited run to extend the length of the car it wanted to race. It's also a bit sad there are no SA-special VWs there. We made quite a few SA-only models that would fit right in with that lot.
I spotted that yellow Mk1 Scirocco and it reminded me of some marketing photos I have of a car just like that. I scanned them from slides another guy online sent me back in the mid 90's. I had a Mk1 Scirocco with an '84 GTI drivetrain installed (my 1st engine swap!)
@Jamie Orr You really deserve it, your Content and Builds are great. My wife is about to buy a T4 Bus and I'm looking for a Golf MK3 VR6 project car. A Skoda Octavia is also parked in the front...so yeah, VW (and all of its Companies) are great 🤍😍
Wow wow wow 😍😍 I’ve owned 2 Mk1 golfs, a tin top and a cabriolet, an A reg and B reg respectively. I had a mk2 4+E also (which I believe was rare. Having being away from the scene for about 12 years I’m now back in. Bought myself a yellow 2003 beetle, and me and the wife absolutely love it. I’ve been hunting for a yellow one for well over a year. This vid was epic mate 🤙🏽🤙🏽 I could watch 10 hours easily. I got to ask, can I hear a Scottish twang in your accent? New subby from over the pond 🇬🇧
The mk2 rallye golf 16 valve shown on the video it’s one of the two units produced by VW motorsport when they produce the Limited Golf. Glad to see it alive!!!
Sad to see the Mk3 A59 prototype missing from their collection. As an aside, the "jubilee" models were called Anniversary here. The Mk3 next to the Mk4 was a 20th Anni. It's a shame the Mk2 wasnt a Campaign.
Great video thanks... Was hoping to see my much missed Jetta, had one from new until 240K miles great motor, now driving other German vehicles from the Bayerische lot.
Agreed, I didn't realize they stopped running them. It being fully electric I figured it's life was still early. Sad to see them just sitting in the corner but at least they are being well kept.
Great place with people's race cars, but kinda dark view, imagine how this can turn out documentary in bright video, will be looking for further details bout this garage man. Thanks a lot for sharing
Golf 8 GTI race cars feature in the South African touring car championship....similar looking to the camo'ed Golf 8....also, the slim flat head lights of the Ralley Golf featured on the face lifted Mk 2 Jetta CLi in South Africa as well.
Would have been really appreciated if you delved into the Jetta/Bora mk4 vr6.. this was a Polo and Golf tour.. touched a bit on the Beetles and Scirocco models, bur anyone can tell your heart is with the hot hatches(Not a bad thing!), everyone has a VW favourite..
Thank you for the video, I love vw, I was wondering that you didn't know the racecar vw golf 5 24h it was behind the tcr, had a 5 cylinder engine from audi with 420 hp I think
Damn, that's a huge collection, even got the yellow Mk5 Golf GTI hidden in there! The real question though, was that yellow Golf GTI a Pirelli Edition?
I would absolutly love that new beetle cabrio. I have every piece of the new beetle launch documents. I will have to check it... Did you notice the Kubel wagen hiding under the cover in front of the beetle cabrio... ;)
This Video, this hall and everthing in it is a dream. I would do anything for a visit at this place. 😍 Have you been given any information about what happened to the 2017 spec Polo WRC Protoptype after the shutdown of VW Motorsport? I had the pleasure to see it at a test twice in 2016; it was a missile 😪
So much in there for such a short video. But was kind of bummed you didnt even acknowledge the K70. Realise it started life as an NSU. But it was the very first front engined car to wear a VW badge.
i would watch a 10 hour tour where you do a deep dive into each car
me too, this collection is so damn interesting
Same.
Actual Facts 🤞 💯 🏁
i can beat that id watch a 20 hour video whilst sipping my bavarian bier
The same here.
I’m a total VW nerd and would watch 100 hours of this.
Thanks!
He was born and last lived about 5 miles from me
Don't forget Adolf Hitler in VW history
If I made a huge car collection, half would look like this. The other half would be 60's Muscle cars and a few trucks. So many amazing cars there!
I could spend hours looking at these cars and it would never get old…
Should've gone to work but couldn't stop watching - Thank you Jamie
Kristofferson's Rallycross Polo was amazing, his launch control on that car was absolutely dialed. Won a few Championships in that car!
Finally information about the brown Golf VI!. Didn't know that it had a VR6 in it. You should have taken a look inside, completely covered in leather. Dream car!
Can you link me a website to more info? Was this a MK6 R32 production model scrapped for the 4 cylinder turbo R? So confused.
@@ytc3773 AFAIK is the MK 6 R swap to a R36 BiTurbo with the HGP-BiTurbo Kit. It's a Tuner Model.
wow. just wow. I could spend hours there, drooling over each one!
What an absolutely amazing facility - could spend hours here. Surprised there are so few buses being stored here 🤔
I felt like a kid in a candy store feeling watching this thanks great content 💯
FACTS 🤞 💯 🏁
Oh man...... Thanks everyone that made that video possible!!!!! Wild!
My dad had a 77 Rabbit. Vw had to buy it back because of mechanical issues. I’ve seen a few pics of it and I love it.
Never knew such history about VDUB. Such a fan!😎
Very cool video i'm missing only one car , the Corrado

I miss the golf mk2 GTS. It makes my heart melt to see all those vw’s👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
this is completely bonkers, it means so much that they are preserving this much interesting history. I could watch this for hours
I fully believe I could spend over 10 hours in there. Keep the videos coming!!
I saw that RSI cabrio in a pic you posted forever ago, what a critter, holy cow! 3.2
AWD with a folding roof. 😍
Great VW footage Jamie. I just happy to see them all on viedo..
So cool!
The blue beetle RSI is the only one, the rest were all silver. It was built for Ferdinand Piech.
Also the WRC 6r polo that you said was a sticker pack actually are pretty cool, they have a 2.0tfsi EA113 engine
yeap, 220hp if i'm not wrong
Yes 220hp stock :) i have one
Yes, one RSI in blue. There were 4 Cup racecars finished in the same colour for the Juniors team back in 2000 IIRC
Must say I'm very jealous! Utterly in love with the red Edition 30 and yellow Pirelli 😍😍
Killer collection of all the VWs I've ever wanted
What a collection. I would love to visit and see all this one day. No Mk7 Golf R-line in that collection though 😂
Cause the mk6 is the best R
VW has a priceless car collection.

Incredible to be able to see it. Thanks for sharing. 😍😊
Dude, you skipped right over the brazilians! Hahaha! Brasília and Puma at 10:15. Awesome garage, a dream of a collection..
This looks so good, they should open a museum of all the VW's from old to new with one offs, concept designs, racing and so on along with everything else, haven't seen any of the old VW vans or such, but hope they preserve them all, lol
Some of these cars do appear at the Autostadt in rotation!
Jamie, was there a mighty Alltrack in there? That’s my baby. Thanks for the tour!
Tough choice - if i had to pick one - Golf Rallye - always loved them. Currently have a MK3 VR6 and a Mk5 R32.
finally seeing more polo wrcs😍
Really wish this was longer, looking at each car.
Woha! Finally a new Video. Lately you see Jamie more on the Nürburgring than here on his channel :-) - Hoping for more content.
Thank you!! There’s a bunch coming up :-)

There's way more than 2
Amazing bucket list trip for sure
I NEED TO GO HERE!! I freakin love VW!!
Aha. I too have a Vw 2 Cyl Diesel !!!! Didn’t know VW had done before in a Polo. Mine does 313 MPG
Awesome video, I love the golf 24 from nordschleife it has a 5 zylinder

There are A59's in VW possesion just not there
Thanks for showing us around. I could spend a whole day there. :)
Great Vid Jamie. Learning a lot from you Bro. We took a pic at the hooligan Rotaform event. Doing a great job
👊🏻🤙🏻💪🏼👍🏻…….✌🏻out
The yellow mk1 race car at 17:00 seems to be running a Kugelfischer fuel injection system
Do a full walkthrough of the entire collection. Details of every car please. Would watch even if it is 10 hour long
Great video thanks... Was hoping to see my much missed Jetta, had one from new until 240K miles great motor, now driving other German vehicles from the Bayerische lot.
Brilliant.
We Need the 10 plus hours version
I miss one… golf 5 gti with the w12 engine and the crazy body it had 🧢
I think there is only one produced and it is at the Autostadt museum
Awesome place, a 1989 Vw Jetta Helios should be in that collection.... :)
EPIC video Jamie!! Aloha from Hawaii🤙🏽
Thank you!
I'd love to see more of that Iltis!
You mentioned at the end about the Corrado...but alas I did not see one in the collection? Still the red headed step child of VW I feel :(
The ID R is an engineering masterpiece. Apparently the test drivers blacked out when driving it it stopped that quick
Agreed, I didn't realize they stopped running them. It being fully electric I figured it's life was still early. Sad to see them just sitting in the corner but at least they are being well kept.
G60 golfs and Corrado had the PG engine and a 4 port supercharger, the golf Rallye got the 1H engine and a 6 port supercharger 👍🏻
Such an awesome collection! Thanks Jamie!

Enjoy your special day love your channel
I am so geeking out right now...loving seeing the mint Mk3's. Curious that there were no Corrado's highlighted.

I miss VW being apart of WRC. I used to love seeing those little Polo's flying around. I feel like it's boring now without them.
thanks for showing us them😍we need a longer video😂
Had an '84 GTI, crashed it, put everything into the caddy and left it marked as a diesel, was funny racing people had no idea
Not 1 Corrado in that collection... The Uber classis of the nineties...
Was expecting to see an immaculate green ‘93 SLC with 5k miles on it.
masha Allah… an amazing tour… thank you brother… subbed, I had a Mk2 GTI, Alhamdulillah now daily on a 2015 Mk7 R… 😘
Jaw dropping thanks for the share keep it up !!!
Thank you so much for the kind words 🙌
Wow, all this and no A59. Still a museum piece only?
We drove the A59 last time we were there - it’s kept in running driving condition. ❤️
The Polo WRC R wasn’t quite just a graphics package. It came with a 2.0L 225bhp engine over the 189bhp 1.8L found in the GTI.
Absolutely amazed 🤤
