The main reason is because maintenance is cheap, average price of any spare part is roughly 20-50$. Second reason is because the spending standard is very low, average salary is like about 300$, so most of the people can't afford Bmw or Mercedes.
Brazil loves Volkswagen vehicles too, it's hard to break and if it breaks, everybody knows how to repair. Of course we like to tune them too, here in Brazil it's common to see VW's Up, Gol, Polo and Golf tuned at Stage 3
I'm a hardcore VW lover...right now have a b5.5 Passat and a Mk4 golf ..had a couple Jettas , one a Wolfsburg, and am about to get my Mk4 golf a rebuild
That's cool and all but here in South Africa we love the Golf aswell so much that we made the MK1 Golf untill 2008 we have MK1 Golf's with 1.4i , 1.6i and limited 1.8i engines ,and it's cool that only we have them and all of them are made here in South Africa by Volkswagen of South Africa and also we have zero diesel Golf MK1's & MK2's also no Automatics
The Golf also represents the cultural divide between the northeastern Serb Republic state and the southwestern Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Things used to be the same here up north but I rarely see any old Golfs now, all replaced by Audis and newer VWs. That sounds like progress but trust me it's just corruption, poor people who used to drive old cars now drive nothing. Looking at how much weight I lost over the years speaks for itself haha. It's a poor fake attempt at modernization. Even the much more developed Croatia has more Golfs than we do. I've always said if you want to see what Bosnia is becoming go up north but if you want to see what it was go down south, that is the true Bosnia. They're broke too but they don't try to hide it. Keep driving these Golfs with pride braćo moja!
Please take note VW. Don’t go down the Mercedes route and make cars to a price. Keep your reputation as a builder of solid vehicles and you’ll keep your customer base. I’ve got an old Mk1 Golf diesel with just over 500,000 kms on her. My dad bought her new in 1982. She’s my daily driver and this Christmas, I’ll be driving from Lisbon, Portugal to Madrid in Spain and back.
Yugoslavia was very respectful country all over the world... Sadly, fooking politicians teared us apart. Now we live in 6 separate countries and also whole new world.
I'm a big fan of Volkswagen, I've been in that car since I was born. As soon as I was born, they put me in a Golf 2 and I spent a year of my life in that car while it was. My father that car was sold to my aunt in 2005, from 2005 to 2015 I grew up in a Golf 4 SDI 1999 with which I spent everything passed, learned to drive and the first car I drove. At the same time, I grew up in the Golf 2 in which I started my life, and in the Golf 5 TDI Edition from 2010, which was with my uncle at Taxi until 2018, where a cousin (son of the uncle) inherited that Golf. That Golf now has 760,000 kilometers and does not give up, suffering from 200 horsepower. In 2015, we owned a Skoda Octavia A5 4x4, it didn't let us down, we toured Europe with it, after that we had a Passat B6, also a nice car and never had any problems, and that's where I became an even bigger fan. In 2020, I thought my world was collapsing. My father sold the Passat, I had a lot of problems at home and my father bought a Toyota. I couldn't get used to that car at all, I wasn't satisfied with that car and I don't feel the same in other cars as I do in Volkswagen. At the time, I thought I wouldn't last any longer, but some problems are being solved. At the end of 2020, I met a man who is my best friend today because he is a Volkswagen fan and where VW brought us together, that man turned my life around, but all because of VW. A few months later, I realized my boyhood dream of driving a Golf 5 R32. After that, the Toyota started breaking down, we sold it and bought a VW Golf Mk7 with a panoramic roof. The Golf 7 has 330,000 kilometers and it doesn't give up, with that car I traveled to the VW meet in Imotski, I went to weddings, I traveled to my best friend in Slavonski Brod and had a nice drive, this year I fulfilled two more boyhood dreams that I went for a ride in Golf 5 GT Sport TDI R line with almost full equipment and that cousin took me for a ride in his Golf 5 GTI Edition 30, I've seen and driven a lot of VWs in my life and I can never get bored. I passed the driver's license for a car on a Golf 8, and a driver's license for a van on a VW LT46. I even worked at an authorized VW workshop. At home, I collect VW parts and VW jackets, t-shirts, pendants and the like... Simply, once a Volkswagen always a Volkswagen. Of course, I also have my page @best_of_volkswagen where I publish Volkswagens, I have met many VW fans through pages and VW Meets. Volkswagen forever 💙💙
Absolutely beautiful, VW is all I drive. Have no clue what initially got me into them, once you close the door you'll never drive an import. Solid little cars, super fun when massively overpowered too!

If you know of a highly tuned Golf (or a Golf with a mind-boggling figure on the Odo) somewhere in South Africa, write to us on rev.community@dw.com. We might even come by to film it!
I'm from the states and I have a ve golf from 2013 don't know anything about this car how do I check to see what series it is? I love this car I've had it for 3 years and I work in construction and there is a man from Bosnia and the first thing he asked me was what type is it I have no idea. Love the Bosnian people so helpful and friendly.
In the museum shown are many cars that I've owned over the years.
I couldnt sleep because this car is tested near my house amazing job Adnane.
He's a lousy neighbor then. He should be more considerate of people who live nearby.
Super Doku, könnt ruhig noch mehr aus Bosnien berichten 💪
The main reason is because maintenance is cheap, average price of any spare part is roughly 20-50$. Second reason is because the spending standard is very low, average salary is like about 300$, so most of the people can't afford Bmw or Mercedes.
Have you priced a MK2 GTI lately? I'm guessing not.
Hey I recognize that song in the beginning, it's Himzo Polovina's "U Stambolu na Bosforu" right?
It is, sharp man.
A true car for the everyday needs of common people. Just like the creator of the Volkswagen intended.
Thanks for video. We still have Jetta 2 1.6 tdi from 1990. Part of family.
Brazil loves Volkswagen vehicles too, it's hard to break and if it breaks, everybody knows how to repair.
Of course we like to tune them too, here in Brazil it's common to see VW's Up, Gol, Polo and Golf tuned at Stage 3
I remember when i left you a comment about this video idea. This is an amazing video, my favorite car is the mk2 ;)
Thank you for sharing their stories. ❤
Total genial! Hätte das gerne komplett auf Deutsch gesehen!
Love my MK2 Jetta.. I've owned it 13yrs and won't ever get rid of it..
I'm a hardcore VW lover...right now have a b5.5 Passat and a Mk4 golf ..had a couple Jettas , one a Wolfsburg, and am about to get my Mk4 golf a rebuild

they say in bosna the golf ll is the truck of the year since 1984. i miss my ll gti 8v, so simple and so much fun.
Fantastic! I remember in my youth people drove either the Yugo or the Golf, and the newer Golf you had more respect you got!
We need TAS up and running again! Hopefully Volkswagen makes this reality one day!🙏
The Golf also represents the cultural divide between the northeastern Serb Republic state and the southwestern Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
🥰 Such an inspiring story! We would love to see some pics or a video from your collection and your car. Looking forward hearing from you.
@@DWREV For now, I currently own a Golf Mk7, it's not a special car, but something is coming soon

Absolutely beautiful, VW is all I drive. Have no clue what initially got me into them, once you close the door you'll never drive an import. Solid little cars, super fun when massively overpowered too!
Massively overpowered never heard of.
My grandma worked there before the war , she retired at 55 got a pension and apartment of her own.
Today we retire at 67 and are never able to afford an apartment.
It’s simple why we love Golf’s
Parts are easily accessible and cheep. Golf’s are great reliable cars.
Maybe we come visit Mexico next!
I hope so! Because this year 2023 is going to be the 20th anniversary of the last Volkswagen Type 1 being produced in the world!
We have one from 1991 and the car is starting as soon as you turn the key eaven if outside is cold
really nice story and much love to bosna!
Yeah thats not a radiator but a front mount intercooler. It cools the charged air coming from the turbo.
