Jeff Beck was a lovely fella. I had the unforgettable pleasure of meeting him when I erected the scaffolding on his place in Wadhurst, East Sussex. I felt a bit nervous when he came over to introduce him self on the first morning of the job. But to my surprise i couldn't have met a more friendly down to earth normal fella. When I drove through the gates of his property I made my way up the long unmade driveway through the trees and parked up behind a unassuming purple Chrysler PT cruiser. I thought the car must have belonged to someone else. I asked Jeff if he could get the owner to pull the Chrysler forward a bit so the back of my lorry was level with a garden path that led to where I was gonna start erecting the first scaffold. Jeff said... "sure, give me a minute. I'll get the keys and shift it" I was stunned cos i thought a rock legend like Jeff would drive something like a Bentley or a Rolls Royce, or both? But I was wrong. The 'cheap no thrills' purple Chrysler was Jeffs favourite every day run around motor to pop to the local shops etc. He loved it. Then Jeff asked me if I liked cars? I told him I liked his Chrysler cos the shape of it reminded me of an old fashioned motor from back in the 1940's / 50's. He laughed and asked me if I'd like to see something else? He disappeared further up his driveway for a few minutes, then he pulled up beside my scruffy scaffold lorry in the most stunning motor I've ever seen in my life! It was a bright red 1930's Ford. A fully customised hot rod! He lifted the side opening bonnets and my jaw dropped when he revealed the big powerful engine. The sun was glinting off the engine like a sky full of stars. Sweeping chrome exhaust pipes, and absolutely spotless inside and out. The retro minimalistic interior was equally stunning with beautiful leather upholstery. This thing growled like a monster. You could feel the power through the ground when it was only on tick over. Then he invited me to hop in. He turned around and headed back up his driveway. What I saw when we pulled up is a sight I'll take with me for the rest of my life. Jeff had a car collection like you'd never believe unless you saw it with your own eyes. A mindboggling collection of even more customised hot rods in all shapes and sizes. I'll never forget Jeff. Not so much for his cars though, for him as a person. Jeff was the total opposite of what I imagined a world famous rock star would be like. Endless cups of tea made and brought out to us on a tray by Jeff himself. A truly diamond geezer. God bless ya Jeff 🎸🎸🎶🙌👏🙏
I was head chef of the ran inn at firle he would drive his stingray down on a Sunday evening for a pint . Wonderful man always Had time for the staff, I would often chat to him about American cars, fascinating man.
I saw Gilmour w Pink Floyd in '73, & I saw Jeff w SRV sometime in the 80's. BOTH, just stunning guitarists. I'm a 66 year old woman who grew up w the best music ever, love it.
69 year old man here. Having seen who many consider as the guitar greats of the 20th and 21st century i.e. McLaughlin, DiMeola, Metheny, De Lucia, etc., I am consistently astonished by what Jeff Beck can achieve with a Strat, his fingers and a whammy bar. It just isn't always about how fast and exciting you play but about how you can build emotion in the listener. Jeff was a master at that and I'm sorry to say that, although David Gilmour was a superb technical rock guitarist, and I love his playing, he's just not in the same league as all those previously mentioned. Time to duck...
Jeff Beck, who came late to our class, and the rest of our class left school, from Sutton East, at 14 years old. We were not offered GCSEs but a few pupils were offered the chance to pass one or two exams. One day he came in with a bunch of stuff in his arms at lunch time and walked with it straight to the Teacher's store room at the back of the class and sat down on the floor. The boys he got on with, relayed to the rest of the class that Jeff was trying to make a guitar. What he had brought in was a few woolly wires and bits of rulers and other wood. I thought, to myself, that he would never be able to make music with that lot. However, some notes came from the store room, and at that time I did not know of any miniature radios that could have made any notes like that, but none the less we heard a few. The rest of the year went by and the last time we saw Jeff was near Cheam in a wood, where we were supposed to be making black ink drawings of twigs and trees. It was next to the spot where Henry the Eighth had made his last castle, - no longer there of course. We all dispersed to create our own lives after that. Sometimes I heard Jeff at the Bus stop shouting to his friends who were in a band. Soon he was to a few years later begin to play guitar with the Yardbirds. It was not until years later I began to hear the real Jeff sound. I missed so much. I have been catching up ever since!! He wanted to do this so much and nobody was going to stop him. He was influenced by his concert playing, pianist mother, who must have played a lot of very good music on the records, and his Uncle who played jazz on his radio in his car, and the film, "The Girl Can't Help It"", with Jayne Mansfield, all sped him on his way. I really am proud of what he achieved all on his own, he created himself and became a great Guitarist remembered by millions of people around the world. Cynthia Allen-McLaglen
Have loved Jeff's playing since I first heard him in the early 70's and have been a life long fan... RIP mate and thanks for all the great music thru the decades...
I knew of Jeff Beck of course but as a drummer of 46 years every guitarist I had ever played with and some great ones cried when he died..then I knew who Jeff was.
I balled my eyes out looking out at the beach and said a prayer for him when I heard he passed. As a self taught guitarist for past thirty years Jeff Beck was always such a huge inspiration and you can hear him in his playing. One of the best ever and pure class.
The two guitar players who are the most expressive, each note brings out love and emotion! They touch our hearts and souls and leave us feeling joyous! Thank you Dave and Jeff. RIP Jeff Beck!
"The most expressive, each note brings out love and emotion". According to that I'd put Andrew Latimer over these two, and yes, they don't make it an easy task to beat.
I know. Every now and then I see a Jeff Beck video and catch myself thinking "hang on, is Jeff still alive" alas, his passing is just such a loss to us all. I love David Gilmour. He's been a huge part of my life's soundtrack. Long may he live.
Jeff Beck is my favorite guitarist of all time. I was fortunate enough to have seen him perform in Houston a few years ago. Still hard to believe he is no longer with us. But I know he’s still making beautiful music in heaven with a few other greats. RIP SIR. 🥲😘
such a harmony between two guitar giants.......no thrash no showing off just pure bliss and two musicians talking to ine another via their guitars. thankyou for uploading
Eric Clapton and Peter Frampton have this same connection on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, also on YT (induction show). We are very lucky to be able to share these moments. 👍😎🇳🇿✨🎸
What an absolute dream come true for any fan sitting in that auditorium. To watch David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, and Vinnie Coliauta on the same stage is totally unreal. WOW!!
When I drive through the countryside and stumble across a beautiful town I think to myself, who gets to live here? When I see David Gilmore and Jeff Beck together in concert I think, who gets to see them play together? Very special.
I saw Jeff Beck in Bergen, Norway, shortly before the shocking news of his pass away. He looked so fine and healthy. Very sad and griefed for some time as I been a fan of him for some decades. I am also a deep fan of David Gilmore and his special style from the Pink Floyd time. I was a teenager loving Purple, Zep, Lizzy, and Jimi when "Dark Side of the Moon" hit us with some force that is undescribable. And still that album is so special and fantastic. Sound, and new styles, arrangements, woofers, dolby and lots of different music hit us in a way that got paralyzed and we only had to see more. And it came with "Wish you were Here". Now 50 years later it still is impressing and gives us the feelings no music today can do. So fun to see them together here.
And if you put the 2 guitarists who can make a guitar convey emotion and feeling better than the next 10 or 20 guitarists ever, on stage at the same time.... THIS is what you get.....Jeff and David, together on stage, and THAT is a concert you will never forget the FEEL OF.
When I lived in the Berkshires, (small town) we had the Live In Pompeii VHS tape at the library and I got to see the whole thing back in the late 80's. It was great!@@silverzales1980
These two can pull more sounds out of a guitar than they were ever built to produce. I have been in the music business for nearly 60 years session, touring, and producing. These two a truly Guitar Gods. We miss you, Jeff! We love you, David!
Every single guitarist must watch this and study it. Listen to their phrasing, but also, listening to their absence. A good guitarist, know when to play, but a great guitarist knows when to not.
It's beautiful to watch these two bask in the musical presence of the other, and enjoy it all so deeply. The mutual respect and love is wonderful to see.
I love the respect & admiration between David & Jeff 💔 Two of my favorite guitarists. Love this show. I’ll never forget where I was when Jeff passed. My phone was ringing, texts coming in. I’ve been a lifelong fan. I didn’t want it to be true 😔😥 I saw Gilmour at Radio City & MSG a few days apart. Unbelievable. And Jeff with Eric at MSG & Jeff at 6 other venues, including his BECKO1 book signing at Mel’s Diner in LA, where we dined with him, Jonathan, Jimmy Hall ( we sat next to him & his son & all had the salmon lol), Rosie, Carmen…everyone was so nice. Rhonda couldn’t make it & I love her! Jeff had grilled cheese, fries & a beer & cheered us with his glass ☺️ & photos with him with his book. Classic cars! Next night Live at the Hollywood Bowl!! Amazing!!! Seeing Gilmour on Nov 5th @ MSG!! We are Blessed! Can’t wait!! 😊❤️
I have seen Jeff and Dave several times each over the years. They are 2 of about my 5-6 top fave guitarists. Both playing strats here- the harmonic blend is ...effing GREAT !!!😂
Wish I’d been there. Have seen them both live, but never together. English guitar heroes playing Jerusalem. Sounds right to me. RIP Jeff Beck. Still gobsmacked by Blow by Blow lo these many years.
No thrash no shredding no show boating, simple expressive clean thoughtful emotionally charged playing as two guitar geniuses blend and weave their musical magic. Awesome. At least we have this video to prove it happened. RIP Jeff Beck. Kudos 🌟
We all have our heroes but it is amazing to watch a legend playing with someone who he holds in high regard or as his hero/legend and friend. I wonder how great he must have felt to do this.
Iam watching this in September 2024 time is 22:37 iam 81years old I agree with everyone They are all great guitaris So much talent i wish I could play like they do ❤❤
If you haven’t already, listen to Near the End from his solo album About Face, that one really gets me choked up if not shed a tear. It’s outstanding and a little under appreciated it seems, when compared to his Floyd output.
I’m a fan of both - and have seen both live (separately). Beck absolutely staggering… that’s a given but this was a reminder for me of nuts how great Gilmour is. Arguably greatest solo of all time (at worst second to ‘stairway’) but man… Gilmour really is something. There’s just something about his touch. His bends are sublime. His note choice. Beck the better of the two in many ways but just taking a moment to appreciate Gilmour.
For pure expression these are the best two to pick the guitar up. Gilmours sense of melody and Becks ability to make wrong notes sound right with the whammy. Nothing like them. RIP Jeff. Hope that you have a great Jam with Hendrix,Stevie and Moore
Ty for sharing...we will never see the likes of JB ever again and Am soo grateful to have access to a record of this greatness...Does a soul good to hear such magnificence! ❤
I have never seen this and just WOW. Two of the GREATEST to have played the instrument. Amazing stuff here, I wish there was a professional recording of this!
Wow. Goosebumps. I was in a band that covered Jeff Beck when I was 17. I was the guitar player. We played songs like Lead Boots, Freeway Jam and a few others. We covered some Floyd as well. Meddle, set the controls, The Gold, it's in the.
Frickin' tears man... when creative juice flows there ain't nuthin like it! We did grow up in the most musically talented era of mod'n life. May God richly bless you all
Increible y Conmovedor el momento magico que generaron..estos Legendarios Musicos...imposible no emocionarte..se me escaparon varios lagrimones.❤🎸🤍🎸 Gracias a chromed. por compartir este video.🌟
I have been lucky to have witnessed Jeff Beck play live and it was incredible. I have never been able to see David Gilmour or Pink Floyd live. Hopefully, that will soon change and I will get to see him play live in NY at Madison Square Garden 🤞
I came to post a comment but I’m completely speechless! My heart and soul filled with something I can’t explain or express in words! I just know I will be replaying this as soon as it’s finished. Thank you for posting and completing my night. ❤David
Two beautiful grand masters of the guitar and musicianship right there together. Sure and glad to see this. Wondered if i would ever enjoy something like this
Because We've Ended as Lovers was the Other Side of Gilmour's Moon for this teen locked in his room with headphones in the mid 70's, and has all the difference made!
Sounds, emotions, skillfully extracted from strings; drawn from genius minds so tastefully placed in delicate progressions, pouring out to all who are blessed to hear, by magnificently sensitive hands crafting notes that register ever so tenderly in our hearts, evoking pure and joyful tears. Epic.
So total agree, technically they can play with speed and accuracy, but it's like looking at an android that has no soul. These two masters who have been my favorite, breathe life into the notes, and are the sigh of the human soul.
that is the beauty of being human and creating spontaneous emotion through each note you hear. It's like jazz is spontaneous, and classical music is ridgid and set. I don't know about you, but when you have a lover, you want to be lost in that moment of the human extasy of joy.
@@BLDRUNNER81 It’s not about speed actually. If you would listen to Robben Ford and Michael Landau you will understand what I mean. Some people go beyond simple pentatonic licks
The bass player, the drummer, the synth guy, thinking to theirselves there's no other place and time where they would rather be. There's no higher ground than this. Playing with both Gilmour and Beck together. That summons a musician's life and surpasses every expectancy. That's simply beyond beauty...
I just noticed that those players are no less than Tal, Vinnie And Rebello... world class musicians. But even for them, to share a stage with Beck and Gilmour must be a friggin' pinnacle!

Gilmour and Beck together. Simply amazing. RIP Jeff.
The best conversation that can ever happen between two guitars.
They are both two of the
Worlds best guitarist 🎸
I'm 80.years old i still
Love guitar music 🎸 🎶 🎵
Gilmour playing Echoes at Pompeii will always be the greatest rock video of all time.
Indeed! I am one who dislikes lists with a passion, but Echoes at Pompeii is other worldly. It is in a class by itself.
Echos of pompii
The friendship between Jeff and David was also a wonderful.
The sound of these two legends on this stage tuches people’s heart.

Two genius simply giving their soul through their guitar. So simple and so great. We are blessed to hear that.
The two singers weren’t too bad either.

The master of sound and emotion.
Beautiful man thank you.
...brings a tear to my eye,... thank you! I was there that night... the world now,.. a sadder place. Miss you Jeff x

For pure expression these are the best two to pick the guitar up. Gilmours sense of melody and Becks ability to make wrong notes sound right with the whammy. Nothing like them. RIP Jeff. Hope that you have a great Jam with Hendrix,Stevie and Moore
Wonderfull, I haven't much more words to say what I think !!! Jeff, rest in peace in the heaven 🙏
Improvising lead harmonies! Only these two guy could pull that off and JEFF BECK SINGS! I fucking LOVE IT! This was just fantastic!!
It touches deep, in our souls... Tks a lot GUYS. RIP JEFF.
I’m still mourning Jeff’s passing.

Absolutely, magical moment. Rip master Jeff Beck. Thanks for posting. Good time for you. 2 Genius
Wow. Goosebumps. I was in a band that covered Jeff Beck when I was 17. I was the guitar player. We played songs like Lead Boots, Freeway Jam and a few others. We covered some Floyd as well. Meddle, set the controls, The Gold, it's in the.
I don't know who decided Jerusalem was the song that these two should play together. Whomever it was, they couldn't have chosen any better.
Frickin' tears man... when creative juice flows there ain't nuthin like it! We did grow up in the most musically talented era of mod'n life. May God richly bless you all
Quelle chance on a eue de vivre à cette incroyable époque musicale.
Hammer, Beck, Gilmour and Ringo should've made an album together. I would certainly buy it..
Increible y Conmovedor el momento magico que generaron..estos Legendarios Musicos...imposible no emocionarte..se me escaparon varios lagrimones.❤🎸🤍🎸
Gracias a chromed. por compartir este video.🌟
I have been lucky to have witnessed Jeff Beck play live and it was incredible. I have never been able to see David Gilmour or Pink Floyd live. Hopefully, that will soon change and I will get to see him play live in NY at Madison Square Garden 🤞
A special event. Two legends melodic playing together. High Ho the silver lining performed in a Jeff Beck set and Jeff singing.
Two great virtous masters playing a masterwork rock composition!!! Thanks for sharing.
I came to post a comment but I’m completely speechless! My heart and soul filled with something I can’t explain or express in words! I just know I will be replaying this as soon as it’s finished. Thank you for posting and completing my night. ❤David
Two Monsters of Guitar , The Best , Beck and Gilmour !
And one monster of the bass, Tal.
Those insane harmonics that Gilmore achieves just freak me out!
Absolutely Jeff Beck!! Phenomenal guitar player. Saw him open for BB King.❤❤❤❤
That was the most beautiful instrumentals I've ever heard. Jeff what an amazing talent.
Two beautiful grand masters of the guitar and musicianship right there together. Sure and glad to see this. Wondered if i would ever enjoy something like this
I saw Jeff back in 2004, a phenomenal guitar player.
I have had the extreme pleasure of seeing both of these guitar legends live and met David and have a signed album hanging in my music room.
Exquisite talent and beautiful playing by all....nice compilation.....thanks for posting!
This is like a spiritual moment! God bless who posted this!!!!
Sir Jeffrey's greatest backing ensemble, all of them pure genius
That was very, very special. Did not know of this collaboration, thank you!! from USA
Has to be one of the most heart felt pieces of music I have ever heard.....a masterpiece in my personal opinion
Jeff Beck is in a league of his own 🎸🎶🎵‼️👍
I was at that Albert Hall show in 2009 - it was magical.
A moment of magic between two guitar artists for Jerusalem. Played together in perfect concert.
Epic.
Sublime. These two beautiful souls moved me to tears.
Awesome, the two best guitarists I have enjoyed the most.
To chrome dreamer a simple but heartbreaking thank you ..I follow you a lot but have been offline for some time...thank you 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
@@charlesperkins6440my pleasure, thanks. Cheers!
So precious!
Играют очень душевно,красиво звучит,загадочно! Будто на другой планете находишся! Дуэт музыкального эхо! ❤❤❤❤😊😊
Jeff, an immense talent that must never be forgotten, kisses Fabienne
I’m lucky to say I’ve seen both these two legends live, just not on the same stage. What a treat that must have been.
Two true legends playing together. Who could ask for more?
Today's guitarist are all about notes per second but it has little to no feeling. These guys play with feeling in every note.🙏❤
Yes with feelings, terribly out of tune and making tons of mistakes.
You right!
@@BLDRUNNER81
It’s not about speed actually.
I don’t believe that I will accept the fact that Jeff has left us. He is and always will be the guv’nor.
