Christian pastor, a former "Survivor" contestant, found guilty of child cruelty (Livestream)

- Louisiana Pastor John Raymond has been found guilty of child cruelty, and it took a jury “around an hour” to come to that conclusion.
It’s a fitting end to a saga involving a truly disturbing man who was a reality TV star, Republican politician, and religious leader.
This is a clip from my recent livestream:

"Children are our greatest treasure ". Too bad he keeps trying to bury them...
And this is the party supposedly so concerned with protecting children.
why must you make everything partisan?
@@henrysinclair5914because in the US it is a partisan issue. Christian Nationalists are attempting to hijack our Constitution and way of life.

the second incident isnt just child cruelty... thats attempted murder.
"Cruelty is their whole brand". Never forget it.
💯 exactly
It's not just the physical cruelty aspect. EVERYTHING about religion (not just Christianity) is calculated to diminish personal agency, compromise human dignity, and foster blind obedience. You gotta give those old timey monotheists credit for knowing how to exploit human psychology.
I was homeless, got into drugs, went into prisons, then i got to know Jesus, He changed my life.. Now i make 22k weekly. have a home, a wife, a lovely daughter... A child of God. HALLELUJAH!
How did you do it? Do explain please 😯
My family have been into series of sufferings lately.
It's Christina Ann Tucker doing she's changed my life. A BROKER- like her is what you need.
After I raised up to 325k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states 🇺🇸🇺🇸 also paid for my daughter's surgery (Joey). Glory to God.shalom.
Absolutely! I've heard stories of people who started with little to no knowledge but made it out victoriously thanks to Christina Ann Tucker.
How do I get connection to this woman you speak about!!?
There mouths are taped shut but told him they’re fine
He would be serving time in prison in the U.K.for child cruelty
What a prick. Glad the authorities got involved.

You should always be suspicious when they use vague buzzwords like "woke agenda" or "communist indoctrination". If actual cruelty is going on they would be very eager to name a few specific examples, if they want to keep it vague that means they are at best exaggerating it and at worst flat out making it up.
There's an authoritarian bent to Christianity here in the US that isn't necessarily present all around the world. These people genuinely believe that cruelty builds character.
F them and all who aide or abet them.
Well time to put a stop to this.
And quick and I'm not asking for violence but awareness.
No surprise there unfortunately
Just a minor point in all this, but when "historical bible courses" are proposed, does that translate to "sermons?"
Ooo - edit! I saw what he did in his political statement, did you? He said he'd PROTECT THE INNOCENCE of children! That doesn't have to mean protecting them from any real threat. That means keeping drag queens out of Story Hour, not allowing them to find out queer people exist (can't have them learning to be understanding or Bast forbid understanding themselves in some cases), and putting an end to any kind of sex education. Come on, you know I'm right
Pastor John Raymond of Slidel, Louisiana has just been found guilty on 4 charges of cruelty to children after taping the mouths of 3 kids with strapping tape to the point to where they were actually having trouble being able to breathe. It was so bad, that the other staff members at the school ended up providing written statements to the police against John Raymond telling them that his actions were not only reprehensible, but abusive as well.
Even after the parents of those children filed a complaint against him with the police department and this guy ended up being indicted on 4 counts of cruelty to children, Pastor John Raymond doubled down on his rhetoric saying that the "woke Democrats were just out to get him, and that he was innocent of the alleged crimes against him.
Then this guy decides that he's going to run for office in the House of Representatives in Louisiana and he lost the election.
Then he decided to go ahead and run for the House seat in La again, and this time, the Louisiana GOP decided that it was a good idea to go ahead and endorse this guy for the House seat, even though he'd been indicted on 4 counts of cruelty to children.
This guy's trial just happened last week, and instead of his lawyers coming out and mounting a defense for this guy, they actually doubled down once again by telling the jury that the only reason why that their client was sitting in a courtroom that day is because of the "woke" Democrats.
Never mind that there were 4 separate times that the police had to be called in due to the fact that this guy was abusing kids at the Christian school that he worked at or that he'd been indicted by a Grand Jury off his own peers for his own reprehensible acts towards these children.
By the way, not only did he lose the election in Louisiana, but he was also just found guilty of all of the charges against him last week.
Sadly, the church & the Republican Party are still endorsing this guy even after everything that he's done to all of these kids, with John Raymond saying "they don't even let the parents in Europe use corporal punishment against their own kids anymore, and we're not going to let this happen in this country.
I wish that I could say that I was making this whole thing up, but sadly, this is the state of the Republican Party in this country these days.
Vote Blue!
It is people like this, who feel that they are above the laws of humanity, that perpetrate the worst abuse, because they ALWAYS feel like they can justify THEIR implementation of discipline. We are trying to change the paradigm of abuse awareness, to teach the young and vulnerable how to call out the precursors to abuse that lead to worse actions. We need to teach children to speak out about the small things when they happen. If the child is wrong, we can forgive them, but if they are right we need to support and encourage them.
If his first offense, likely the minimum ten years given the seriousness with one to three served and the rest on parole. He will no longer be able to work with children. Insurance likely won't cover him to be a pastor any more either.
That's better than nothing, but it's shocking to me that he was arrested and charged with 3 counts of child abuse, was not fired afterwards, and was then arrested and charged with more child abuse.
Anyone with the power to fire him but chose to protect him instead should never be allowed to work with children again either.
Oh noes! A serial offender who is never accountable for their own behavior. Shock. Shock. Surprise.
When I was in first grade (at a Catholic school), I got in trouble for speaking in class and my punishment was to sit on my hands. It was the only time a punishment worked and got me to stop talking because I was so confused. I sat silently trying to figure out how this was meant to stop me from talking.
My 5th grade teacher, a lay man, had a paddle with holes drilled into it to minimize air resistance when whacking kids on the behind. He once missed, and hit a kid in the small of the back.
One of my nuns used a wooden pointer to paddle all the boys (and only the boys) whenever the class got too noisy for her.
Another nun cut open a boy's face with her bride of Christ wedding ring when she slapped him.
I guess, it's the pain that comes with the punishment that is meant to teach kids not to act up.
Thanks for calling out the creepy clergy who abuse others
The religious yet again... my shocked face 😐

This is why the slogan "Canada Nice" is propaganda. Yesterday was residential schools rememberance day and again, imo it was so much worse in general in Canada. I'm Native (Lakota) and residential scholls were terrible historically but by the 1960s when my mother chose to go to residential school, it wasn't bad. My former spouse and most of his family went to residential school in Oklahoma, my daughter in-law, many of my siblings and family all attended residential school and it wasn't a bad experience because they chose to go becase of poverty and to be with friends, etc. It was really bad in residential schools in Canada until the 1990s.

I had a teacher do that to me twice back in the 80’s. Back then I was so intimidated by him I never reported it.
My mouth was taped when I was in 1st grade. I was so embarrassed that I put my hand over my mouth the entire time. It seemed like forever until the teacher told me I could take it off. I was mortified.

I think that is very different from using packing tape and wrapping it around your head. The real question is: did it work? Did you stop disrupting the class? Being embarrassed was not the point, and you can't really call that abuse. Clearly asking you to stop did not work, so as an adult, what would you have done to stop class disruptions?
@@shakeyj4523 are you being serious?
@AvaEFF i think he is.
I was a middle school teacher and a fifth grade teacher for a while. If I had done something like this I would have been fired on the spot and turned in to law enforcement. School district policy.
This probably does, and _can_ probably happen in _private_ schools, though; I was in a private school when I was a kid, and a boy came back from the principal's office to class in tears; I never heard of anybody coming back to class in tears after a visit to the principal's office, which made me believe that he was hit by her.
And this is just one reason I prefer my taxes go to public, not private, schools.

Most jail sentences are concurrent, unless crimes are particularly heinous. (Capital crimes)
I don't think you needed to mention he was a Republican, I think that was implied by his behaviour.
My pastor, pastor Hill at Elim Pentecostal church in Langdon HIlls, Essex, used to hit me as a child. He'd wait till there were no adults around. Another of our clergymen, (my mum was always jumping religions), COE Reverend Owen Leigh Williams of St Andrew Holy Cross, also in Basildon, used to watch boys, including me swimming naked without their parents being present. He took dozens of boys camping alone in a small caravan in a remote farm field in a town called Petworth.Owen befriended single mothers to get to their sons.
Years later, another boy accused him of sex abuse. I never accused him at the time because my mother raised me that whatever adults told me to do, I should obey without question, and they were always right. This message was reinforced by every church we ever attended.
He then went on to have a public presence as an anti gay campaigner. Thinking about it now, I wonder how many boys he abused and got away with. The church investigated but never fired him. He then went on to have a public presence as an anti gay campaigner.
I just looked up Rev. Owen Leigh-Williams and he was one those 'AIDS is God's punishment' ghouls.
I'm sorry for what you endured.

I was raised in a conservative religious home where there was definitely corporal punishment.
I don't feel that I was mercilessly abused, but I have noticed that among Christian adults, especially Christian adults who skew more conservative and fundamentalist, there seems to be an inability to understand that you shouldn't do something to a child that would get you arrested if you did it to an adult.

Name one person in church authority who gives children options on how they’re punished. 😂😂😂
Religious authoritarians have never respected children's autonomy even a little.
This is how narcissistic sociopath looks like. Unbelievable. He's very, very lucky it was not my kid. But I somehow feel in jail fellow inmates explain him what horrible mistake he committed. 🙂
You sound more violent and worse than he is. Did you not ever hear that two wrongs do not make a right? Revenge is as bad or worse than what he did.
If people had paid attention back when Native American children were being taken and forced to live in residential schools where we got horribly abused, this kind of thing wouldn't be the norm? Or people would know who the abusers really are? Who knows maybe this abusive cultural norm would have been completely addressed and it would not exist at all?

"Friendly Atheist," you might consider turning down the schadenfreude, to at least a low simmer. Taking gleeful joy in the downfall of others is not a great brand, regardless of their relatively reprehensible qualities. (And you might ask yourself why it gives you such great pleasure.)
Horrifying what goes on inside religions. Reason and empathy please.
NEVER let religious people of ANY KIND have physical control of your children or leave your children alone with them.
Meanwhile, Jesus, the guy this 🤡 supposedly follows, told people to be kind and loving to children. From Mark: “Taking a child, He set him before them, and taking him in His arms, He said to them, “Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.”
From Matthew: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in Heaven.”
Then again, they seem to pay more attention to the Old Testament than the Gospels, but even in the OT, the rod in “spare the rod and spoil the child” referred to a shepherd’s crook, used to guide sheep and grab them if they were about to wander into danger. Shepherds didn’t use them to beat their sheep.
But then, what do I know? I’m just a recovering Catholic currently dealing with two kittens 🐈⬛🐈⬛ constantly getting into mischief, and wouldn’t dream of hurting them. And the cat 🐈⬛ that keeps yelling at us will never have her mouth taped shut.
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in " Christ Jesus” is a verse from the Bible, Galatians 3:28... Christians must really hate this verse. . The word "slave" comes from the Latin word sclavus, which comes from the Late Latin word Sclāvus, which comes from the Byzantine Greek word Sklábos. The word "slave" first appeared in English around 1290, spelled "sclave". The similarity between the words "slave" and "Slav" is due to the fact that Slavs were often forced into slavery. Slavs were enslaved en masse by the Romans. Vikings also had many Slavic slaves. Slavs were sold into slavery to China and other territories as eunuchs who were castrated servants or slaves who were often used in royal courts. While under the so called "Christian" label, they were not to be enslaved except, when they couldn't pay their taxes, then they were put in debtors slavery. wink wink. "christians were not supposed to enslave other "Christians" however how many African American slaves who accepted "christianity were NOT set free or had salvation or could pay taxes? Doesn't sound like a "christian" nation to me.
Firstly he won't get anywhere near the maximum, and second, he won't serve them consecutively.
He offered the kids a lighter form of tape, and then offered to suspend them from school, so he felt justified in taking the duct tape option when they declined the other two choices? That's literally how predators and abusers manipulate their victims into agreeing to stuff. It's practically textbook.
3:32 I looked up his profile on the Survivor wiki while you were talking about it. Apparently he was on the show for three days total and his "luxury item" he brought onto the island was a Christian flag.
Here's a rundown of the wiki.
He was mad that the teams weren't split by gender/wrongly assumed they would be and he was picked by a lady named Jan to be on her tribe. He decided to be the leader, despite annoyance from others. One of their teammates had become sick due to dehydration and it was John and Helen's (another tribe mate) job to find water. They found water, but decided to play a prank on everyone. Playing a prank with WATER. On a game named SURVIVOR.
The tribe didn't find it funny. They lost their immunity challenge and he was kicked off first. Apparently this aired in 2002.
No wonder someone who tried to prank his tribemates over water (after his tribemate got sick from dehydration) wouldn't think taping kids mouths shut is wrong. What the fuck is wrong with this dude?
"It was often under 10 minutes" Narrator: 1 kid was under 10 minutes.
"During his closing arguments, defense counsel accused the witnesses against Raymond of committing several of Christianity’s “seven deadly sins”, specifically: wrath, greed and envy. He said “you saw me tear those witnesses apart.” He condemned the boys and their families, saying they were not seeking justice, but rather “jackpot justice.” He urged the jury to not be an unwitting participant in their scheme. He warned the jurors that if they convicted Raymond, prosecutors would soon come after parents whenever they used corporal punishment on their children."

There's a reason only one person from Survivor: Thailand has never returned lol. Actually two reasons: Few liked the season and the majority of contestants were awful on and/or off the show.
I can't believe how stupid Mr Raymond's lawyer was in the defense. You are in a red state, a red town with what must be conservatives on the jury and he can't do better than it is a "woke" trial? Pathetic. Well, if he wants to appeal on the basis that he had inadequate counsel, he certainly has a case.

Sure, the kids could have licked the tape with their tongues to get the tape off, but I don't think that would be helpful since the way the incident is described, the so-called headmaster/principal wrapped the kids' entire heads with tape. So, even if they lick the tape to the point where it is able to get loose enough to take off, there is still the other bunches of tape that they have to go through with their saliva and they would probably run out of air and suffocate before they can get all of the tape off.
The principal is acting just like a kidnapper or some type of would-be murderer by handicapping the kids like that. I hope no kid ever died because of him. How would this principal even react knowing that he has some kid suffocating too death because of his "little stunt"?
And this monster is walking around free?
So... not a drag queen.
I can see these kids just nodding and lying, they don't want this would-be murderer making their "punishment" worse. It's really ironic how a lot of these horrific punishments actually sound like literally torture and that these kids are like hostages that just have to get their captor to trust them just to get out of their potentially lethal situation.
I'm sure anyone who has been responsible for multiple kids at once has had an intrusive thought about taping their mouths shut. But like most of us know better than to let that thought win.
Also often under 10 minutes implies it was common and occasionally was over that time.
Color me surprised (yawn)
Even as a person from a time when corporal punishmemt was commonplace, this is not discipline. These are criminal assaults on defenseless children. He deserves worse than what the law allows for punishment.
What??? I thought all Christians are good???
Other adults witnessed these things and did not stop him. Or at least not when they should have.
How can the kids answer a question about whether they can breathe or are in pain when their mouths are taped shut? 😡😡
Why didn’t these “witnesses” stop this sh*t???
probably because they've been indoctrinated by the religion
