We like to think of her as our voice of reason up here in Maine. We all have been graced with her clarity of vision and her recollection of the past. She places puzzle pieces in a series that lends enlightenment that we might never have been able to see.

Me too. Have learnt so much from her about US history and politics.
She has so much insight in to the reasons that the US finds itself in this awful divided position it is today.
The country has always survived Republican and Democrat governments before, without tearing itself to bits.
But Trump is an aberration. His lies and hatred has literally torn families and the country apart.
It will be a disaster if he is reelected.
Love and hope from Australia 💙💙💙

Thank you, Heather. I very much feel like you in your description of being a Lincoln Republican and a conservative. I realized when Reagan was president that I really didn't believe in what the Republicans stood for, after trickle down tax cuts and the firing of striking air traffic controllers, among other things. I also didn't quite fit as a Democrat.

For me, Reagan, himself, was grounds for worry. A mediocre actor, who got celebrated for his wooden delivery but mastery of memorizing his lines, does NOT equal any kind of leadership talent. This man, whose family was saved by the new deal, a cornerstone of which was support for the idea of labor unions, did all that he could to shackle them! I found him an affront! But her discourse on the march to trumpism was absolutely mesmerizing!

I always get something new when I read the writings of, or listen to interviews with Dr. Richardson. She frequently confirms what I've seen through the years, and echos so many of my own concerns. I sometimes feel people aren't seeing it, because they seem blithely unconcerned. This troubles me deeply. Thank you for interviewing her, and for the great questions! The point I want to make is, that when the United Empire Loyalists attacked the White House In 1812, not only did they give The First Lady time to remove personal belongings, and they did not enter the property with a British Flag.

If only American politicians could do what HCR promises to do (and what George Washington did prior): acknowledge that they are here to serve, and that once they have served to the best of their abilities, they will step down. The relinquishing of power is as important a skill to model as the assumption of it.

And no, she is neither of the present-day Republican or Democrat, but of a politic that would usher this country towards the ideals of the wise, compassionate but pragmatic leaders that helped shape the US to be the best in the world. I saw Judy Collins in a small auditorium in Alaska 1997 or 99 ? Anyway one of my best concerts ever. She was amazing ! I was recovering from an abusive relationship. I knew i was going to be alright and grow stronger from this unfortunate and miserable time that i endured !

To Heather, As a young man ,I went to a play I'd read a couple of times and knew I loved, partly because it was written at the end of his life, wasn't full of tragedy or pathos, he was free with the language, and it flows beautifully, " The Winters Tale". My Father turned up one day with 2 tickets to a matinee. There were two roles that came to life seeing it, I hadn't realized reading it. I always thought the female role was the young Queen wrongly accused, that had the best lines, but I was wrong, It was the mature older friend who had the strongest dynamic, who was wise enough to give her the support She needed. Kamala is that for the women of America as long as She knows people like you.

What she said at the end really touched me. And it's sparked the awareness that in many countries around the world, she would be at least jailed if not killed for what she does. Think about that. She's really able to do this because she lives in a free society, with a rule of law that still works most of the time
