I also have a Brooks Universal board and I reccomend it to anyone who will play any game their friends convince them to. If there's gonna be fighting games I know I can bring my stick, and that's super important.

Man I remember back in the day (2013) I was trying to make my own fight stick and I couldn't get hold of an xbox compatible card, I ruined like 4-5 xbox 360 controllers from first time learning to solder the connections, they were frickin small and burnt out easily! Then a further 2 of my friend's controllers before finally getting one right, thankfully we went through a few 360s thanks to the red ring so there was an ample supply of controllers. Man we're so lucky now that there are universal fight stick boards out there, I might dig out my old fight stick and see if I can hook up what you got there and get back into street fighter. Thanks for showing your fight stick and how you made went about it.

I made my own stick when I was about 16, nearly 14 years ago. Followed all the instructions on Slagcoin. It was Just a simple box made out of Mdf wood with plexiglass. For the pcb I used a madcatz arcade games tick for the 360. I was so proud of it as a kid, even though my soldering was crap.
It's good to see there's so much more resources and community. I can't believe you don't need to solder anymore, as I did such a shit job of it lol. Im going to try and get back into it and try doing it as a craft :)

I have the omni - Korean version. I replaced the lever with the Crown Help Me Lever. Incredible stick , perfect size , keeps your lap cool as well. Put some custom one piece art on it to , looks incredible!

Thank you Gerald so so much.
Now I feel confident enough to try and make my own DIY fightstick.

The mousepad idea is really good. I have a piece of skateboard grip tape on the back of one of my old sticks, but it wears on your pants so I stopped doing it. Might have to try a mousepad instead.

The stick i use is made of wood, has some shiny plastic wrap, and a Venom, from Guilty Gear art on it. Samwa buttons, a old school, sturdy brazilian stick, custom microswitches, and board. I made my son´s the same way, but fancier, and, since he loves Juri from SFV, I kinda copied Gerald stick art...

I'd be down to watch video essays on movies or tv shows with this kind of quality editing.

I LOVE how whenever I see a core-A video I'm 100% sure than even with a title like "the controller I use" I'll get some universal knowledge out of it.
I'm always curious about what I'll learn next

The stick I use comprises of a large green button called "A," some gray peanuts and bumpers, and two joysticks cuz I am a casual.

I like to tweak my stick now and then, but I've never changed out the board. Really cool and you're definitely braver than I am. The joystick itself looks a little loose for my taste though. If I don't have at least a 2 pound spring I feel like I'm going to suffocate. I'm rocking a 4 pounder in a Hori stick that otherwise has default parts right now.

Korean levers are more bouncy because it uses rubber/latex grommet for tension instead of springs but generally they can feel much stiffer than JLFs depending on your preference
