I love the how to vedios from 1A Auto. They are very informative. It is a lot better than trusting your car to some of these mechanics of today. I love working on my own car anyway.
FYI MOST OEM if not ALL catalytic converters on these Caddys have threades holes in the flange that connects to the exhaust manifold. This means you havw to remove the ENTIRE heat sheild on both side of the engine to access the bolt from the top. You could possibly drill them out from the bottom but there are no bolt/nut clamping the top flanges. Also the bottom flange on the cat, where it attaches to the exhaust system, they have studs that pass through the exhaust system flange. This video, though accurate for replacing aftermarket cats with open flanges (bolt/nut thru rhe flange), doesnt account for OEM factory cat removal. Its like replacing the spark plugs, very labor intensive because you have to remove everything thats in the way of removing the heat sheilding. Whether from the top of the motor or from inside the wheel well when the access panels are removed
Hi, I have a 2005 SRX V6. I'm replacing the driver side catalytic convertor. The bolts that attach the cat to the exhaust manifold are only accessible from the top. There is no nut on the bottom. Any tips on how to get to them? Thanks
As usual an excellent video, however I have a 2004 with a 3.6. The top and bottom bolts are just studs with nuts on the top, I cannot see a way to get the driver side off. Also when I disconnected the lower section they do not just fall apart they are seized together, would be nice for A1 to tell/show us some tricks or how to's for issues along the way. Thank you for these awesome instructional videos though, most of the time the work on my end goes very well after watching these.
2 issues here the bolts on the 07 are on the opposite side and the exhaust flange bolts seem to be welded from factory those bolts on here seem new so if to have tips on removing the weld that will help
The bolts are on the top of the catalyst yall need to make a video of the bolts on top and how to get to.them... I watched a lot of y'alls videos and they all helped also yalls parts!!!but this video is not much helpful pls update
We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular part of the repair. We will keep your request in mind for future videos! Thanks for watching! 1aauto.com +kevin cantu
how do you know which side you need, why do they send you to a mufflershop how much for converter i have the o6 cts 2.8l is there any welding needed please respond thank you
+Dominique Brown Here's a link to the catalytic converters that we carry for your 2007 CTS; hope this helps you out. Thank you for asking goo.gl/Kny2XP
My car reads p0420, i know it has to be the sensors or the cats cuz it smells when car running(gas smell/exhaust smell) do i change sensors or cats? I need help.
So how do you do it when it still has the actual factory pressed in studs in the bottom flange with the bolts on top? There is no access from the side or top to remove the heat shield all the way and get at it.
Well the biggest issue is that bolts are on the incorrect side! Why They, unfortunately, are not accessible from the bottom of the car and you need somehow to get to them from the top of the engine
+Diego Garcia You would need to purchase a replacement once it goes bad. We carry the one shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them.www.1aauto.com/cadillac-cts-catalytic-converter/i/1accd00314?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&B49znE
Anyone have any info for 2006 Cadillac STS? I'm trying to replace the starter, and I can't find any info for an STS...everything is CTS this...CTS that.
Wish it was that easy. the head of my cat bolts are on the top side of manifold. what's with these new cars that make a simple job difficult. Oh wait manufactures don't want us working on our own cars. they want us to junk them and buy new ones!!!!!

Why does it seem you have more room to work in there, my 07 CTS 3.6l is a snug fit all around.

+Marcin Pluta Thank you for checking us out, and the information provided. 1aauto.com
Marcin Pluta having the same problem managed to get a socket on from the top but nut is frozen
Is it possible to just clean out the cat converter or would I need to purchase a new one?

isn't the converter welded on the exhaust?
That’s the muffler
The catalytic converter is the 2 he was messing with
Nope.
what if the old bolts don't fit the replacement?
1A Auto Parts cool thanks for answering

I looked up a 2008 Cadillac cts converter and it gave me a towing ball mount??
+jonny boii We do not currently carry a catalytic converter for this vehicle.
@@1AAuto how do i know which side is broken?
You don't show how to put a new gasket in between the catalytic converter and the
So you took out the cat to put in a used cat?
No he took out the cat to show how to take out a cat🤦🏿♂️
