This video was a huge help to me!! i couldnt build any boost after i did an engine swap in my 04 6.0. Thanks for the detailed diagnostic procedure.
Nice video matt,Ben thought I might have an ebp sensor issue..
Another way to check and test sensors if you don't have a scan tool. Test your 5v reference with a ohm reader. If its low like below 4.95v Unplug each sensor one at a time when it jumps back to 5v after which ever last one you unplugged you found the bad sensor. All sensors on the 6.0 other then cam and crank sensor are connected to the 5v. I've even had issues with a bad EBP on my 03' they are inferred in 03'stratagy but if sensor is bad it will still take a dump on your day
What happened on the '03 with the inferred strategy? I've never checked mine and everything seems to be boosting properly, no tuner
Cool. Thanks. Gotta check that out. Got a weird intermittent lag issue.
Ive been having the same issue
Holy shit that difference is insane, I couldn't figure out why the 6.0 I just bought doesn't sound like a 6.0 I cut the exhaust off because I'm planning on putting mbrp on but still no 6.0 sounds I'm like dude what is going on here, thank you for the video!!
Thank you!
So a high reading on mine can’t cause lower boost or anything since I run a 369sxe? Having a boost issue, maxing out at 23psi WOT. Map and baro are good, but ebp is 38-40psi engine off, and will spike 200+ psi under load. Have pressure tested from compressor housing and it will hold. Any ideas?
So I ordered your soft tunes with the tis 100 psi map sensor and 6.4 ebp sensor with the tunes. My baro reads 13 map reads 10 and EBP reads 0 . Engine running at idle. Put new hose on map and installed another. 6.4 ebp ( international) still same readings. Using CTs 3 and ford ids scan tool to monitor pids. It’s this normal for this tune with the 100psi map and 6.4 ebp?
So I followed your advice and use my cts3 scan tool and my map sensor kept increasing as I was driving. replace map sensor and nothing has changed stoll higher than others. Advice
So a new sensor KOEO should read .8 volts right? I’m at .95 with it off and around 1 volt at an idle Also with it off it’s at 15.2 psi for the ebp. Trying to rule out that sensor here. Not sure what to do
im so glad i found this.... i took my truck to 2 different shops my regular guy was booked out 3 weeks at the time so to sum it up somethings not right low boost 8-10 1/4 throttle if i punch it it'll shoot up to 20 n i get the good turbo noise n a little puff of black smoke. at idle baro is 14.3 n map is 14.5 ebp is 18-19 using my scangauge so does that mean ebp is bad? i replaced the tube n now my 2nd ford sensor replaced map n baro sensors n map hose n cleaned the fitting i thought an exhaust leak at first n replaced the up pipe not much difference if u tell me im right its the sensor maybe i'll an alliant sensor see if its any different

Help!! Need the part number for the 2004 EBP!!
Just replaced mine on my 07 about 4 months ago
Replaced the sensor & still not reading the same as map and baro with key on truck off?
I don’t have a snap on scan tool to be able to see stuff like that but I’m in complete confusion. I just installed an upgraded 64.7mm KC compressor with 10 blade on my 03. Turbo preformed amazing and sounded amazing for a couple of weeks. Now my truck feels like a 2 stroke trying to hit power band, my whistle isn’t anywhere as loud as it used to be nor is my Chewbacca roar. I’m leaning towards map sensor or mega boost leak but my turbo is also surging. Any pointers are much appreciated
I would pull the ebp sensor and replace that plus the tube first. You can also use an Edge CTS3 to see this same data.
Going through the same issue on an '07 F550 with a manual trans right now. ZERO power off idle until about 2000rpm's. Must launch in low, not 1st or you get killed pulling out of an intersection...
Hope this helps you diag it
I totally think this is what is going on with my rig going to change that sensor out.
I changed it out and it was running fantastic now its two weeks later and I seem to have the same problem going on wondering if I got a bunk sensor any way thinks for the video.
I know this is an older video now, but I’m having a very similar issue no 6.0 roar like it should. Some surging in the turbo around 2000-2500 rpm and sometimes at idle once warmed up I cleaned the ebp tube and sensor but no results, replaced vgt solenoid and pigtail with nothing aswell looking to replace the ebp sensor but wanted to see if there’s anything else I could be missing
We have some newer videos but also don't hesitate to call 1-800-577-2698
Having a low boost issue on my 06, maxes around 17 at wide open. Watching all my data while driving found the EBP to read 40-45 PSI with the engine off. Obviously no bueno. Bought an EBP sensor from my local Ford dealer and installed, had no change. Now I’m stuck diagnosing the electrical, hoping it’s something easy/obvious. Ever seen one be off by that far?
Did you measure that with the proper tool?
when you switch out the sensor should you blow the tube out with compressed air before you put the new one on? or perhaps start the truck with the sensor off for a minute to blow the gunk out of the pipe?
Yes sir that's a solid idea to do or change the tube
Good morning, I have 2004 with an intermittent loss of power. It doesn't feel normal (no power) at times on take off, at times while standing at a traffic light, the truck continues to run, but I lose the accelerator peddle. Is this the EBP or MAP sensor causing lack of turbo boost? Your comments are appreciated and happy new year
Did you ever get it figured out?
04 PS....P0420....My ebp tube is clear and the sensor looks ok but, at idle I have no boost and sometimes negative boost and can't hear the turbo until I get on the gas...Very weird sound not hearing the turbo at idle. I have the SCT livewire, can I see the pressures on these sensors with that?? I'm thinking I have a bad ebp sensor...I am building good boost when driving 23-25psi..Thank You
Livewire can't read ebp properly
Did you find the cause?
I dont recommend Dorman anything haha dorman used to make half decent parts but they have gone downhill so bad thst i wont even buy a part if dorman is all they have to deliver id rather wait a month for shipping if i had to 😂
I have an 04 6.0 runs incredible. When I let off the throttle highway driving it kinda sounds like it has a lope tune in it until I press harder on the brake and slow down then it isles fine. No smoke or anything when WOT. Any ideas?? There's no tune in the truck just straight pipes and intake.
Thats from injectors brother man
Should I have them checked?
@@dantinalongyes sir I would recommend that
Im having random issues with my 04 6.0. It keeps giving a map sensor code (p0237). I've already replaced my Map sensor twice, cleaned the tube, replaced the hose, cleaned my turbo vanes, changed my vgt solenoid, iat sensor. Im completely lost now. Im not having any power loss, but my idle is diffrent and SCT scanners randomly reads negative 11.59 psi. Any advice will be appreciated!
Another thing I've noticed is that when I release the pedal after acceleration, I could hear like an intake back fire or like a blow off valve kind of nice.
@@Vikter_zepeduh what does the baro and ebp ready
So does this cause a hissing noise coming from your dash when accelerating? I hear this sensor being faulty or tube being clogged up causes that.
No sir a hiss is a broken up-pipe
❤❤
What will cause 60 to surge. Have changed all the sensors
Weak fuel pressure or weak icp. Give us a call with any questions 1-800-577-2698
Matt, what causes the hole in the piston like that?
Injector getting stuck open brother
I had this happen on an 03 cummins. Makes a horrible boom 😂
@@oldsouthautodetail9327 yes sir it gets rowdy
Will ebp snesors cause stalling?
Yes my truck would stall coming to stops when my ebp failed
How do you diagnose a harnesses issue for the ebp sensor? What should the resistance be at each of the 3 pins?
You need to ohm from the plug to the ecm and should have no resistance.
Little resistance? Or no resistance? Wouldn't no resistance mean that a wire Is open ? Also what pin on the pcm do I ohm too? Any help is greatly appreciated I've already replaced my ebp sensor ebp tube ebp pig tail and even pulled the turbo to ensure none of my veins are sticking and I'm still throwing the p0470 code and gettin lots of black smoke and high egts
Middle connector on pcm pin 25 or 2nd row from bottom first pin on right
Anything more than 5 ohms is considered bad and needs replacement
On my scanner, my EBP sensor is reading 0 volts. Would that mean my sensor is “dead” & needs changed? Chasing a problem with building little to no boost on my 2004 F350 6.0.
You may have an inferred ebp strategy
@@BlessedPerformance This may sound dumb but what does that mean? I looked inside of my sensor and it looks like it melted.

What other scan tool can be used to diagnose if SCT won't?
The Edge CTS3 can see all of this data so its the best monitor on the market for these trucks
I use an elm327 bluetooth adapter with torque pro on my android phone and tablet. The elm327 cost me $11 shipped to the door and the torque pro software was $5 for the pro version. Look up diesel tech ron's video on how to add the powerstroke PIDs and it works great.
I’m diagnosing my EBP, I have following readings:
Barometric pressure- .97 bar
MAP-.98 bar
EBP- 3.52 bar
Does this indicate something is wrong? Based on the video I think so.. truck doesn’t feel as powerful
What are you checking number with?
My ford f250 2005 is having the same problem
Here is a video showing how to fix it
Thank you bro
My 6.0 is stuttering from time to time idk whats wrong with it

The SCT handheld cant do the necessary PIDs out of the box, but if you connect it to LiveLink it can.
Forscan is also a solid option as long as you have the necessary hardware.
I've never personally hooked up Livelink I'll have to verify that. From what I was told from my SCT rep is nothing they have can read icp voltage nor ebp psi properly
@@BlessedPerformance I'll have to look a little deeper as well. I always just set it to KPA or MPA respectively 🤣
