    What beautiful images and a really lovely video. Thank you for taking us with you. The snoring was really creepy, until the gentleman below suggested that it could be a hedgehog rather than of human origin. I remember now that hedgehogs can be very noisy. I heard all sorts of strange and loud noises one night after dark and loud rustling noises too. When I went to investigate I witnessed a large hedgehog climbing the high wall opposite. I never knew they could do that. It sounded like me climbing uphill with loads of camera gear on my back. I think badgers snore quite loudly as well.

    Now those are some nice shots. You take good care of your nails. Thoroughly enjoyed this video. A nice chat with advice for a very bright morning. Loch/lake. Even with your accent you are easy for this guy to understand compared to some of the guys who are just a little tough, but I'm old and a little deaf. Swan!

    I got an Osprey cruising by with a fish in its talons but I've not seen one actively fishing.
    Some animals snore (my cat does at times), perhaps... If you were in Norfolk I'd say you'd wandered to close to Snoring Magna (or Great Snoring as those modern Brits call it). ;-D

    One of my favourite places in the NE. Great vlog as usual, Kim. Regarding the snoring - it could easy be my wife back in Aberdeen. She is certainly loud enough!! I dedicate most of my sunrise shots to her snoring LOL

    Love the birdsong. What lens would you recommend for birds on the Z6. Currently have an f mount 70-300.

    • @kimgrantphotography
      @kimgrantphotography  4 роки тому

      I haven't used any of the z mount zoom lenses yet (I only have the 24-70mm and 14-24mm). I've just loaned a full frame zoom lens (24-300mm) and adapter for doing wildlife photography. Last I checked the longest focal length z lens was 250mm but new lenses are being released all the time. At the moment I'd recommend getting a full frame zoom lens and z mount adapter until a longer z mount lens comes into the market 😊

    Thank you for the lovely video!! I’m a fairly new subscriber, and I’m so glad that found you. I’m also a Nikon shooter, but I opted for the Z7. In fact I have two Z7’s and a number of Z-mount lenses. I’m intrigued by that Nisi closeup lens. I’m going to look into purchasing one of those. I’ve been using my adapted Nikon F-mount 105mm f/2.8 macro at the moment, but it’s so noisy when the VR is turned on.
    Looking forward to your next video!!

      Thank you Guy and welcome to the channel. Really glad to hear that you are enjoying the videos and are too a Nikon user. They certainly are great cameras 👍 I'm really enjoying the NiSi close up lens too. The glass is great quality

    • @guyyowell8547
      @guyyowell8547 4 роки тому

      Kim Grant Unfortunately, I’m using the new Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8S for the Z-mount, which has an 82mm Filter thread, and I don’t believe the Nisi closeup lens is available in that size. I may get it anyway and use it on my 85mm f/1.8S. By the way, I’ve been a Nikon user for more years than I care to admit, and these new Z-mount lenses are just amazing!!

    Nice video, nice pictures to bearing in mind you were holding your camera above your head. Impressed with the clean sharp focus. You caused me a bit of anxiety not using a wrist strap on that really nice camera though, it's probably because I'm clumsy.

    Hi Kim, great video as always. You may find that your mysterious snoring was actually somebody fishing, many people do night fish a lot, in fact when I saw that you where walking around a fishing lake I was very surprised that there was nobody there fishing tbh. Even if the lake doesnt allow night fishing many people will still do it but will do so very discreetly, maybe hiding themselves in the long grass etc with just a sleeping bag.

    Hi Kim...beautiful location. Are you still loving your Z6? I'm an Olympus shooter but the recent announcement of Olympus selling off their camera division is heartbreaking. I love the compact and light weight Olympus bodies and lenses but I am seriously looking at the Nikon Z50 if things are really as dire as they appear with Olympus. I love your shooting style and regard for nature. Keep it up.

    If you enjoy macro photography, you might, sooner or later, want to buy some extension tubes. They are usually sold in kits of three, with each tube being a different length than the others. You attach the tube (or tubes) between the camera body and the lens, which makes it possible to focus on things much closer than normal. With a wide-angle lens you can get ridiculously close and still have things in focus. In fact, you can get the minimum focal distance so short that it is negligible! Unfortunately, the depth of field shrinks with the decreasing minimum focusing distance, so you need to be more careful than normal with focusing.

    • @kimgrantphotography
      @kimgrantphotography  4 роки тому

      Would definitely consider this moving forwards. So many amazing things out there to help us see and enjoy photography more. I really am enjoying macro so will look into these for the future.

    That is so weird Kim , I went to a local lake it was very early in the morning and I spotted this white bag , obviously I took the opportunity to take a nap. Anyway I was woken up by this girl's voice apparently talking to herself. What a coincidence eh ...

    I really enjoy your videos Kim. I visited Scotland last year and fell in love with your country. We share the same desire to photograph Osprey fishing. I'm fortunate to live some where close to several Osprey nests here in California and I see them fishing all the time but have not been able to get the shot. I'm considering taking my camera on my kayak next week, so maybe they will cooperate. I have some pictures of them in the nest with their chicks and building their nest on my Instagram page instagram.com/amandajfife. Feel free to check it out if you like. Keep the videos coming. I always learn something new from them.

      Thanks for the concern Ken but I've always felt safer out in nature on my own than I ever have in a town or city. I would never let my gender stop me enjoying the solitude of nature. Of course there are bad people in the world but for every bad person there are hundreds of good. I'm always sensible when I'm out, keep my wits about me and pick my locations wisely.
