    people dont realize how much power these use. Most normal homes cant handle the amount of current they draw. sure they are efficient but when they need 150 amps of power doest it make up for it? and gas instants need power also so in an outage they wont work either.

      My tankless took 3 separate 20 amp circuits. So yeah, if your circuit breaker panel is already maxed out, it's a problem.

    Very convincing time to go tankless

    I have an electric Tankless water Heater. The Unit is an Eemax HA024240. The Unit is rated at 7GPM, which should be more than enough for our home. The unit requires (3) 40Amp Breakers and I was wondering if it would be possible to use 1 (3) Pole 40amp Breaker to supply the unit or maybe 1, 125amp breaker? We have a 200amp breaker box and we have plenty of slots we can use.

    • @Idgafwyw
      @Idgafwyw 13 днів тому

      No you can’t. The unit itself is set up for 3 electrical feeds. If it requires three 40amp circuits that is what you have to use. There are 3 heating elements for each breaker.

      @@Idgafwyw Yeah. I already installed the unit and Three 40AMP Double Pole Breakers, it was surprisingly easy to do.

    Will this work for a mobile home? Hurricane Milton just took mine out... I'm sick of replacing those big heavy tanks I'm only 5'3 n 130 pounds im dying out here... my roommates r both elders ... s.o.s. me lol ...
    but seriously I really need advice here...

      I'm in a mobile, and looking at these. My biggest concern is power. My breaker box is a 200A. But I've only got so many slots, and you need 3- 40A dual poles. My heat WAS, electric.which took 2-50A . I took out the electric because it cost a damned fortune to run. I use a nice pellet stove and it's wonderful. Anyways... So, with the 2 slots freed up, and the spots from my existing 240 electric water heater, I have enough room, in my box. Now as far as use. I'm a single guy. Low water use. But, in in Northern WA, so, low ground temp. I've decided to look at mine 18kw units as my whole house replacement. I have a 50 gal tank currently. I'm gonna mount it on masonite board, just to make damn sure it's fire safe. Because of my well water, I'm going to install a replaceable filter just before it to keep it clean.
      Very sorry about Helena.

      Yes, because natural gas prices will never increase and that fuel will always be available.

    • @wyomins
      @wyomins 3 місяці тому

      @@thenexthobby that fuel is always available, it's called methane and you produce it every day. Many cities trap it from sewage and garbage dumps and burn it for electricity.

      Gas price also can increase like that, the diference is that eletricit you can produce yourself quite easily with solar panels, eolic generators and even geothermal. You can produce Bio Gas but that take a lot of land and organic material, is completely unviable unless you live in a big ass farm with a lot of animals in it.

    • @Charlemagne1367
      @Charlemagne1367 20 днів тому

      @@gabrieldiasmelo Solar is only partly viable. More than half of the year, even go so far as saying 3/4, there is little to no solar production. Even more so for wind production. Only if you live in an area that has a lot of sun, solar is a solution. And the amount of cost for a big solar installation and an energy storage system buys you a lot, a very lot, of gas to power a lot cheaper gas installation. Well this is what they are finding now in Germany with their "energy transfer" ideology.

      That's an argument for a hybrid (i.e. heat pump) tank system. But those require a significant amount of space to exchange air with. An old-fashioned electric tank heater is probably gonig to use more electricity than a tankless, since it's constantly heating the water. Tankless just uses massive amounts of energy for the short time the water is running.

    Biggest con is they need to be backflushed every year or they clog up. Not recommended for well water system with high mineral content.

    Tank less have not been working for us not sure if it’s the wrong brand.

    • @elhoward7440
      @elhoward7440 11 днів тому

      They can build up calcium or other mineral deposits in the pipes very quickly, which restricts the flow rate and can make them unusable after a couple years. In theory, one can backflush them every 6 months to get some of the deposits out, but that sounds like a hassle since you need to depressurize the system to do it. I just went back to an electric tank heater at the insistance of my renter.

    Unfortunately harris democrat party con new laws have dramatically increased our electricity prices. Unless we get nuclear powdered like France, the $500+ annual electricity cost for an electric unit adds considerable cost with inflation.

    • @zenwilds2911
      @zenwilds2911 3 місяці тому +1

      You don't need nuclear. Every state has options.
      Washington runs mostly on hydro. My electric bill is usually $50-70/month.
      3 bed, 2.5 bath.
      And we are avid gamers. Gaming PCs running for most of the day.
      Also don't like it when it's hot so if it gets to 65 outside, I close windows and turn on AC.
      Gas is way too expensive. Nuclear is unnecessary. Those are the two worst choices.

    A 0.90 UEF is not “efficient” compared to a heat pump alternative. Electric heaters are resistance heaters, expensive to run. Just like tank heaters.
    Tankless might be “efficient” when not being used, making the overall monthly electrical usage lower than a tank’s. But that’s like saying a gas guzzling car is efficient when it’s parked.
