These kind of design modifiation by the manufacture are quite common, alot of it is due to the servicing of the product, so you can`t cross over one part or board for another, at one time they stopped you by introducing non interchangable power supplies you could only use theirs, also introducing tamper proof screws, it all about making it harder to service this equipment and if you do attempt it, you have to modify your repair because you cannot obtain the right part, you make good with what you got!!!
5:14 Then I am the only one who always replaces these ports, I even have video about it so no lie :) The pin that switches not only has this function, but also holds the plug in place. With the pin, the plug snaps into place with a click and stays firmly in the laptop, without the pin it is just loosely plugged in and falls out easily. Okay, you've done a bit better with the hot glue... maybe it's a solution if you can't install a new port or can't get a spare part.
Iam really enjoying your videos and started buying and doing small repairs and learning for myself..please where did you get the mini screw driver from..iv checked all your Internet stores but I can find it. Thanks 😊
You didn't solder that middle pin, you said it was cracked and had movement, that will fail very soon. Why didn't you solder all the contacts of the dc jack....
I wonder how he managed to find this sensor issue in his first such similiar incident. For me without such knowledge i would have spent hours probing the whole motherboard trying to trace the issue. Anyone knows whether he has done such a similiar issue prior to this video?
Thanks for the nice video 👌 I have same problem with latitude 5300, the laptop is working but not charging, it's charging for 2 seconds then it stopt charging, does this trick also work with dell laptop chargers port with 3 pins?
@@waalmoon9141 Thanks for that update! So we can rule that out! I feel certain that except the recent acers, no other brand do have this feature on charging ports!😢
@@Aneesh.Asokan exactly! I see that dell has different configuration for charging, if you have the same problem you can suspect the battery, i think it is 50% chance that the battery is locked and not charging, i will order one from amazon and try it later.

What I really dislike about this type of cases in Acer laptops it is the fact that the threaded inserts for the case screws are waaayyy undersized and the surrounding plastic is thin and flimsy. On top of that, the screws come from the factory with too much /too strong of a bolt tight compound that will lead stripping the insert... I had 3 on mine giving up the ghost (no pun intended) while in the process of replacing the cooling fan.

Design to fail. No reason to add the complexity other than to say the company is "improving" it. In reality, the executives know it helps the laptop fail quicker than before, increasing computer sales. The customer can't say the product is worse since they are gaslighted to believe it is "improved".
I know you hate on Type C but i see it as a great port until it's ripped off a board. Properly bolted to the chassis and with ribbon connecting it to the board it would be the end solution, make those sub-boards/mounting part of standard as well and there is your end solution ..
I got one of these for free a couple months back. I didn't have this problem, just a bad battery. I put some deoxit down in the port and on the charger plug just in case.
If i had a repair shop I would ask the customer if he wants dodgy (cheap) or proper (expensive) repair. There is not need to explain that the hot glue won't be flexible for long. Also the port is not lose only from the top to bottom, but horizontally too.
The way I see it is you saved the customer money providing a solution that will probably outlast replacing the port. Again nice fix Sorin and proper dodgy might I add!
7:45 always good when a hole is tighter....😁👍

Good one, as usual. Respect to you sir.
Super robota Sorin.
Good job mate 👏
17th anniversary today, getting the wife some hot glue.

You didn't solder that middle pin, you said it was cracked and had movement, that will fail very soon. Why didn't you solder all the contacts of the dc jack....
that melted glue stick will prevent that from happening. if it won't charge again then the port will have a severe on it. IN GLUE WE TRUST.
Nice video Sorin! Thank you for the knolege!
If you connect a contact port of 8 V to the ground it will result in constant discharging of the laptop even when it is turn off.
pls give me some example about overheated and hang up after a minute of used

They not paying for that, also don't do it without stopping the fan from spinning otherwise you risk breaking it.
That jet fan will rip out the fan!😀

Different to my acer which was just a plug in jack easy to replace
Properly calibrated hot glue.
Sorin, I can't believe you noticed the cracked solder and didn't fix that too. Very very dodgy, typical Sorin :)

LOL! Amazed UA-cam allowed this title! You are normally more reserved than this.
they should've put a small led to indicate when the plug is all the way in and if it the led broks just lose a led not a notebook

Cheap crap ports on an otherwise costly machine. Love it!
Best title ever 😂
Probably just fluff in the bottom of the plug hole not letting it plug in fully
9.2volts 😂 where is it getting 9volts. You would never think it needs a ground if you saw 9volts. ❤. Wanker acer
