@@drjoetvMD please consider the fact that table salt has crystals that don’t completely dissolve, they enter the arteries and scratch the walls of your blood vessel. The body then uses cholesterol to patch the scratches. Over time cholesterol build up narrows the blood vessels causing high blood pressure. That’s why fast food using table salt causes more blood pressure problems than Himalayan salt or Celtic salt. Please reconsider and research in more detail.
I can't use table salt because it caused health problems. I have Hashimoto's thyroid disease and once I stopped table salt I was able to shrink tumor and growth of other tumors. I felt way better and started getting the nutrients I ate absorbed into my digestive system and blood stream better. Pink Himalayan sea salt improved my asthma. My blood pressure stays consistently 120/80. Hashimoto's thyroid disease causes high blood pressure among many other illnesses. Thanks to pink Himalayan salt and a pescatarian diet, I'm normal healthy and living better!

Himalayan salt in general is probably free of microplastics from pollution.
But it has more Mercury, Lead, Cadmium and Arsenic. Go figure...
Table salt and sea salt both contain high amounts of micro plastics; however, pink Himalayan salt contains 0 micro plastics.
But has plenty of lead
@@drjoetvMDit does not, if it is properly sourced
Don't forget the himalayan salt is harvested from the earth crust. The lead is in the earth crust from which the salt is dug. So unless you refine the salt, a process Himalayan salt is not exposed to, you get the salt along with the impurities and that includes lead @@DavidBloodJohnson

That regular table salt is a killer, I'll take my chances with Himalayan salt and Celtic salt anyday,, regular salt is striped and over processed.. it's not only about flavor it's healthier
And has more mercury, arsenic, lead, and thallium. Just so know. It may look pretty to you but...

I don't worry about microplastics at all. There are more important things to worry about. We need less anxiety around us. Not more

Thank u sir.I have been using himalayan salt for a year.I thought it is super to control blood pressure
Nope. It does nothing to lower your BP
@Dr Joe TV I’ve read that normal table salt (whatever normal table is or classified as) can contain small grains of sand or glass. Which cut the veins or artery’s casing a scab and blood clot. Do you know if any of this true? Thanks
Not true. If anything you are more likely to have that problem with Himalayan salt as it is not refined at all. Table salt is refined and part of what the process of refinement does is to remove impurities. I am not saying Himalayan salt does that, by the way. I don't think any salt causes cuts in blood vessels leading to blood clots
Hello so Doc is it better to consume celtic salt rather than himalayan pink salt....another query especially for electrolyte balance a pinch of salt with a glass of water is recommended so is this enough to damage your kidneys??? Or that's below harmful?
Celtic or Sea Salt are better. A pinch of salt in a glass of water won't damage your kidneys
I like this common sense approach and I wish more people would do a little research and don't just believe what a seller on Amazon or eBay says...they're not Doctors at all.

What do you think about French céltica salt
You may use Celtic salt if you want to
Thanks for your research Doc, I believe if you have a decent diet you don't need to add all these salts, I am with you on the hypertension as I suffer from it, and I have always been told by Doctors to limit my intake of all salts, blood pressure always goes up after consuming salty foods

Then it is the wrong salt! You need salt to stay hydrated and create stomach acid
Many years ago my mother got into gourmet salts of all kinds, disdaining common (iodized) table salt. Then for fifteen years had "chronic fatigue syndrome" until an elderly doctor discovered and treated her iodine deficiency. Wow, to think there's actually a reason for iodizing salt, that might apply to YOU.

Correct a lot of illnesses are due to lack of vitamins or the correct minerals in foods in one’s diet…. Most people are lacking….
That's great information! But even if Himalayan salt costs more and has no more nutritional value than regular table salt, better to stick with Himalayan salt because today's sea salt contains microplastics. Best salt to use is Celtic Sea Salt.

Though Himalayan pink salt has trace mineral, the main reason why many people consume it over regular sea salt is not because of that. It's because they have significantly less microplastic than sea salt. Now a day, they are not all that expensive, compared to Redman and Celtic salts.
I hate to break it to you that people buy Himalayan salt because of the so-called minerals they are going to get from it. That's been the market positioning

The Pharmaceutical department doesn't want us to eat well, so we'll have to buy their medicine to keep us unhealthy, that's how they become richer. Blessings
In 2010 I had 2 transient strokes that were caused by afib an abnormal heart beat that causes clots. Prior to this, I had been on a standard American diet. I was turning 40 when the strokes occurred. Little did I know then that I was also developing artery disease and had alot of inflammation in my heart. After being hospitalized for strokes, I was on a pharmaceutical blood thinner and I was unable to stabilize my heart no matter how much I reformed my diet. Then I was led to cayenne as a natural blood thinner but not taken in capsules as that it too harsh on stomach lining. Rather sprinkled on food or pinches on the tongue. The enzymes in saliva prepare the stomach so there is not this harsh reaction. Also cayenne travels from tongue to heart almost instantly and helps nourish the heart with a good supply of blood. It also increases saliva which helps enzymes production. When It comes to oils and fats, I struggled many years trying to understand which ones were safe for the heart. Since my hospitalization and the meds [even though they were short term, they impacted my nervous system causing my afib condition to be most chronic. My 3 children were still quite young and the added stress & responsibilities made it harder to recover. So by 2015 much damage to my heart from all the afib had occurred and I had my first minor heart attack. It was through this attack and several subsequent ones that I learned that omega 6 fats which are in all heated oils and roasted nuts and seeds are very inflammatory to the heart and trigger the artery spasms I was having. At the time I was also haphazard about taking my natural blood thinners to prevent strokes. I used them in place of the pharmaceutical coumadin that had made me feel so weak and cause hair loss. The Cayenne, ginger root, turmeric and occasional organic apple cider vinegar diluted in water. Garlic was not an option for thinning my blood since it lowers potassium which is crucial for a normal sinus heart rhythm. So if I had butter, cheese, dairy products, refined flours or refined sugar, then these scary minor heart attacks would happen in the middle of the night. It got so bad that by 2018, I could not even lie down at night to sleep safely. My artery was so worn out and the nitric oxide depleted that my oxygen would sink dangerously low causing more and more artery spasms [the 5th type of heart attack]. Finally in 2020 I started consuming beets and beet juice to get nitric oxide gas into the endothelial cells that line my arteries. This oxygen rich gas opens up the arteries beautifully and increases blood flow and reverses hardening of arteries. Still my battle wasn't over as life happened and various stresses seemed to add to the challenge of a heart that had been remodeled by decades of chronic afib. Consequently, in October I suffered a couple silent strokes. Different from the numbness and brief forgetting how to walk of 2010, these were dementia like confusion. It was then that in desperation I turned to certain UNREFINED and UNHEATED oils to heal my brain of this injury. I found that the more pure and wholesome clean my diet was, the more I could tolerate these fats. In 2020 a loved one had given me some inexpensive fish oil. I could tell it had been heated and processed to conceal an unpleasant fishy smell. This made the oil highly inflammatory and I felt the effects immediately in the night and could not lie down. On the other hand, UNREFINED and UNHEATED black seed oil, doterra frankincense oil, UNHEATED and UNREFINED coconut oil are wonderful for helping brain recovery and my heart has no ill effects. So I think it boils down to the quality of the oils and them not being heated. If one does not have heart disease, I think a moderate amount of heated oil [good palm oil that is unrefined] would be safe. It is my unprofessional but personal experience derived opinion that someone who's had heart disease is a type of test pilot for these fats. Early on, after my first heart attack I could see a pattern
It went something like this:
First heart attack...triggered by inexpensive unorganic beef .
Second heart attack triggered by butter on air popped popcorn.
3rd attack from refined pasta with cheese baked.
4th heart attack sugary granola cereal with milk on it
5th attack things definitely worse in arteries by 2018 was taking a synthetic D3 supplement and had no K2 in my diet. This caused inflammatory response to be triggered by exercise and anything strenuous
6th attack came from lying down to sleep from reduced oxygen in my sleep.
...I'm still currently avoiding animal products [except occasional organic free range soft boiled eggs]. I have a vitamin C deficiency even though I eat alot of raw plant foods. And anyone with this deficiency is allergic to the type of protein in beef. It is a trigger to enzymes that trigger heart attacks. In 2021 I tried grass fed Buffalo and had an artery spasm that night. So I'm playing it safe. No chicken either. I eat lentils, blackeyed peas and other legumes and unroasted nuts and seeds. I presoak all legumes and grains so that any lectins or nutrients inhibitors are removed from 12 + hours of soaking and sometimes sprouting.
Fermenting steel cut oats and black rice is also a good way to protect the heart. Fermented saurkraut and fermented soybeans provide k2 which guides calcium into bones and teeth and away from arteries. The fermented grains produce B12 and B6 which help reverse enlarged heart.
I would be remiss if I did not include that in the nitric oxide beet juice I'm consuming [made in a vitamix blender] I also add one whole lemon. If it's an organic lemon, I leave the yellow rind intact. If it's not organic, I take a sharp potato peeler and thinly remove just the yellow, carefully reserving as much of the white pith as possible. The whites of Lemons and all citrus are so healing and strengthening to all capillary and vein walls. They are rich in bioflavanoids that synergize with the vitamin C in the citrus juice to strengthen the vascular walls. This also improves flavor of the beet root that can often taste too earthy. The lemon gives it a more refreshing taste.
Additionally I might add that during one of my more painful and debilitating afib episodes I tried to substitute the fresh beet juice with
Beet powder. The powder was not nearly as helpful. All through the night the pain of the heart flopping and blood collecting in the lower chambers of the heart increased. By 11 am I finally had some fresh beet juice with lemon. Immediately I could feel the intense pain lift as the arteries opened up from the nitric oxide and within an hour I was back in normal sinus rhythm.
Thanks for the info Dr Joe. I alway wonder why it does not supply iodine as well, if it is suppose to be so good. Won’t be buying again.

This product contains Sodium Hexacyanoferrate, also known as Yellow Prussiate of Soda. It is what's known as a ferrocyanide salt. As of May 2023, it is approved for use by both UK and EU authorities (E535). In 2018, a re-evaluation was published in the EFSA Journal which assured the consumer that ferrocyanide salts are perfectly safe to consume at the established, regulated levels. The levels have to be regulated, because (quote from the Abstact):"The kidney appeared to be the target organ for ferrocyanides toxicity and 4.4 mg sodiumferrocyanide/kg bw per day was identified as the NOAEL for the renal effects in a chronic (2-year) study in rats. Assuming that the toxicity of this compound is due to the ferrocyanide ion only, the Panel established a group acceptable daily intake (ADI) for sodium, potassium and calcium ferrocyanide of 0.03 mg/kg bw per day expressed as ferrocyanide ion.

I have been using Himalayan pink salt for about two years and I’m yet to see the best of it…there are chunks of white rocks in the pink salt which has no flavour which tells me something isn’t right…. Some of the main salts taste salty at first then become flavourless …. You have to use too much of hem to get a flavour…. Which isn’t right …..Hence why with the alternative salts you keep adding more to get that flavour that was once known… 👀 I’m yet to find a decent salt to use…. Where I get it it's not that expensive. The reports are that sea salt has microplastics nanoparticles these can actually get inside your cells and interfere with your endocrine system. Every time you wash your polyester shirt these plastics go down into the ocean and they become part of the salt 90% of table salt is reported to have these plastics in it. That's why I like to get mined salt, this ancient salt is from before the industrial revolution so it's fairly clean. They can't figure out why the body temperature of whales has dropped. Is plastic a metabolite? What function does it serve in a cell other than just to get in the way and block the normal functioning of your cells? For iodine why not try Dulse or Nuri or other seaweeds? McGill University did a study. They took a nylon tea bag brewed the tea and then dried it out and put it under a microscope and counted millions of plastic nanoparticles. There's another study and they dried human blood and found plastic nanoparticles in that too it's in us. So if you don't believe that then I suggest you do some research on that. Meanwhile enjoy eating about a credit card sized chunk of plastic every week of your ongoing life.
You'll get as much iodine as you need from Sea weeds if you're lacking it. I have to say there's a lot of scaremongering going on regarding sea products. We may never eat my lovely Salmon again if we listen to all of that noise

Thank you too
@@drjoetvMD 🙏
Thank you for explaining this. It helps alot.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you
You're welcome
☝🏿👀❗ Thanks for the info...
My pleasure
Goodness. While the price of the pink salt is not so much of a turn off, the lead and heavy metals and other natural toxins, sure are. I do not care for the taste of any of the mineral salts. But I was willing to deal with it for health benefits. Now I am wondering if there is research results on people that have actually been harmed from consuming himalayan pink salt or any of the mineral salts.. Thank you for sharing your research and opinion about this.
You're welcome
If large oceanic fish contain lead, mercury and other pollutants, isn't it likely sea salt will be similarly contaminated?
Fish is a living organism. Swallows what's in its environment and contaminants will get embedded in its tissues. Salt is non-living. Contamination of sea salt may occur but it is hugely overstated
Query: doesn't almost all pink Himilayan salt come from Afghanistan? Does Murray River pink salt actually come from Australia, is it certified?
Himalayan salt comes from either Pakistan or Afghanistan. That region of the world
I stopped using himyalin pink sea salt.Because in the bottom of the shaker.there were lot hard things I coukd not dissolve or identify.
Those could be small pieces of rocks
@@drjoetvMD I don’t think so they were slivers. There were some rocks too which I reconize.
@@vivianfields9261 That underscores my point that being unrefined means it may contain impurities
I love himalayan pink salt.
Thank you
Thankyou sir, so many days i was thinking himalayan is good for health, but now i come to know about it .🙏🙏
Exactly
Once you get the taste, other salts doesn't taste as nice. It improved my HBP. I think you must get some pure Himalayan salt.
Okay. Thank you
Well? “I just don’t know.” I do use pink Himalayan salt 🧂lightly on my food. However I have used the finer grains of it. Preferably with combination almond, avocado, and olive oils made into a homemade exfoliating scrub. Does the skin good no doubt. Be careful in the shower 🚿 with it.
Thank you
Thanks for your extensive study… I have always had doubts about the Himalayan pink salt and that’s why I’ve never purchased it.
Don't worry. You are not missing out on anything
Ditto!
Himalayan pink salt is very good for all human beings .
I never said it was bad for all human beings. The sellers shouldn't be claiming superiority over other salts because it isn't. That's all
There’s been a lot of research saying that the pink salt has very heavy metals
It probably does have metals in it because it is unrefined
You miss the bus, I have tested salts. Himalayan salts improved my health, even HBP. Extra minerals very important. Must be pure. Good flavour.
Thank you
For me I notice increase in blood pressure when using pink salt, my blood pressure is on the low side.
Thank you but any salt will do that for you though, not just pink salt
Interesting video
Thank you
i use himalayan salt for the past six months and i do feel better using it then table salt i also us sea salt i think you are wrong about it
So you think the Himalayan salt is what's performed wonders for you? Think again. That's a placebo effect. It is just like any other salt. It's offering you nothing more than other salts but feel free to keep using it. I'm not suggesting there's any harm in using it. It's just that it hasn't got superior qualities
Please review Deccan organic Himalayas pink salt 🧂✌️
Everything I have said here applies to the Deccan Himalayan pink salt. It's just a brand name. Same thing
XRF reports prove that Himalayan Pink Salt contains Au(Gold) nano particles.
Three electrolytes, Sodium, Potassium and Chloride are available in this salt. Nobody can find Potassium and Magnisium in refined commercial salts.
Since the three main electrolytes are available in Himalayan Pink as explained above, it has the capacity to regulatize Hypertension. Other than Himalayan Pink Salt, Celtic salt is also good since Celtic Salt too has same minerals, available in the sea water that the humanbody needs.
Hmmm...
Himalayan salt was made a very long time ago. It should have a lot less radioactive elements than, let us say, salts formed after WW2. Our family is looking more at health over the dollar sign, esp if you factor in health costs. Think everything in moderation also helps. Looked at a few comments. Wow! did not know there could be so many opinions on something simple like salt. All good to know and evaluate. Forgot about plastic, forever chemicals, DDT and its breakdown products are still around, war chemicals, pesticides.... (better living through chemistry!? ) Water is another good topic. Well water, surface water, bottled water$$$
Thank you
Sea salt has a lot more taste, a better flavor profile, compared to plain mineral salt. (more minerals)
Thank you
What about the Celtic sea salt
Celtic salt is fine
I put sea salt in my bean soup yesterday and it dayum near kilt me...shot my bp up so high my wife made me throw the soup out... Maybe I put too much
Thank you

@@MAHONEYDRO what type sea salt do you use?
Micro plastics are in every salt except Himalayan in Celtic salt that’s why I spend the extra three dollars
This obsession with microplastics is just so unnecessary, Juan. Seriously it is
Morning Dr Joe thanks for info
Thanks, Natalie
It's rare I add any salt at all. I seem to be one of the few who have problems with salt.
Good for you
@@drjoetvMD That's not easy. My mom would salt her food when we went out to eat before even tasting it. So I developed a taste for it early in life.
@L R Yes, I know people like that who would without fail add salt on the table even before tasting the food. I have never understood their line of reasoning or should I say seasoning 😂😂
I don’t use Himalayan salt or Norton salt, Norton salt is over processed and was pushing my BP up so it’s out of diet since 2016. I’ve been using Celtic salt and my BP is like when I was a teenager. I watched a scientist once who said of all the salt Celtic has all its minerals and it’s not processed. Maybe you could also do a comparison of Celtic salt as well…
Thank you
Celtic is full of toxins same as pink salt.
Doc thank you so very much for all the health benefits we all get
Plz can you talk to us about see salt since I read in one of the commentary that sea salt is full of plastic deposits
Thank you dr joe
My pleasure
