Japan can travel to major offline auto qualifiers and get more than 2 spots.

I'm old enough to have witnessed some GOATS of their time and discipline, like MJ, Silvio Rodriguez, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fela Kuti, etc.; some times it takes time to mature, but oh boy! they cannot hide their unique talent. The Avalon is a dive bar with a live stage in a bad neighborhood. I miss the two years that Capcom Cup was at the Anaheim Convention Center in a big stadium right next to Disneyland.
😂 my brother in Christ...I dont think you even realize what a dive bar is, Avalon is in frikkin Hollywood with an upscale dress code & you might pay 100$ cover on a given night and you're talking as if it's a hole in the wall.

What’s the difference between Capcom Pro Tour and Capcom Cup X? I don’t understand it to this day.
CPT is a run of tournaments (both online/offline) that players participate in to earn qualification for CapCup,the Million Dollar Tournament.

SFV first seasons had better point system, event variety and higher density in caliber
honestly this almost online only stuff, area restrictions and other small series instead of one big cpt circuit kill my drive to stay on top of all great competitors
while the 2mill prize pool is nice for them pros, stakes don't feel nearly as high as back then
we want to see the players interact and see their journey
knowing they traveled long distances for some cpt points made it feel more earned and every tournament was way more balanced and stacked
I know traveling is not easy for everyone but then again create these smaller online tournaments for a travel ticket to your cpt majors

edit: also for newcomers losing 2 and being out or being a pro traveling over seas to struggle with cold hands sucks

In bigger tournaments I suggest starting with a quick seeded round robin system á 5 to 6 people each
In one group people should meet at 1 or 2 stations, elect a player for win tracking on a sheet of paper and get their games done quick without supervision
after that a TO will rank all players based on their set counts and crate a cut off for top128/top64 double elim seeding based on the group stage
(Also creating fantasy brackets are fun for the big tournaments)
Let me offer you a counterargument. Not everyone lives in a first world country or has thousands of dollars to spend on flight tickets and hotel reservations.
That doesn't mean they are not good or talented.
The DR community crowfunded Mena to go to the US, and the Birds had the funds to travel and play in the EU, but not everyone has that possibility. EndingWalker, for instance, was 17 when he started entering CPT online events. Without those, he wouldn't be able to become a pro.
The real issue is that production values for the regional qualifiers should be way higher, and they should receive proper marketing.
FFS, even the Sony sponsored PS4 SF5 tourneys had player cards and season stats, the commentators had a virtual booth, and they interviewed the winner of the event.

I beg that they change the format next year.
We need:
-at least 2 more offline premiers (I'm thinking either CEO or combo breaker are a shoe-ins, but add one in LATAM and EU). So7 offline total (nothing crazy, no reason to constantly travel like old formats). Plus LCQ of course
- We NEED more spots per strong region (US, Japan).
-Season broken up into two parts, points rewarded for consistent placements in WW, Online Premier and Offline. Then they can add up all points in US, Canada, Japan, LATAM, etc and take the top point earners from there. Strong regions like US and Japan take top 4 or something each season, while others get fewer spots.
- Still have auto qualifiers from online and offline premiers. WW just gives ability to earn points without traveling.
- Then season resets points half way, Capcom patches the game every 6 months for fresh balance and more qualifying players are added for the following season.
Seems more reasonable since it gives other regions chance to compete without traveling but it ensures consistent players and more spots for highly competitive regions (US/Japan). Obviously someone way smarter than me with scheduling will have to figure out the appropriate amount of qualifiers

Nah, so far we've seen lots of characters winning the qualifiers including "bottom-tiers". In terms of player mains, we're going to have a pretty variegated tournament.

This trailer is, well, it's a trailer. Next time, either add gameplay footage from tournaments, or add gameplay without the HUD. It looks out of place and inconsistent having some scenes with them and some without them. It gives off this feeling that this was rushed. Otherwise, cool trailer for what it's trying to promote.
Spoiler alert it's going to be either of the two fighting each other or a mirror match between Luke, Ken, Jp or Deejay in the Grand Final

Personally dont like the 2 representative format...doesnt feel fair for such a large some of money. Imagine the top 3 are in one region and you're the third guy, you don't get a chance to upset them and win 1million or any prize money at all. All that grinding and work and you're not allowed in but some scrub you could beat 1000 times out of 1001 gets in???

Yes the big Prize Money helps the Pros & draws a little bit attention.
But the Qualifying Events & Tournaments for the Capcom Cup leading upto the Capcom Cup make it exciting.
coz the setup & venue of the Capcom Cup has always been boring, so without the build up, without the popular pro players, without the drama Capcom Cup is just boring.
