- 2012 Ford Transit connect. came in the shop with a concern of a bad vibration, grinding, rattling when placed into drive. follow along as I demonstrate the steps I took to isolate the problem to performing the complete repair.

Great video. Nice touch putting the camera on the dash while doing the testing to demonstrate exactly how severe that vibration really was.

I just got a 2013 transit that vibrates like crazy but drives great I’m replacing all the mounts. Mine has almost 300k on the dash and runs better than my 2018 dodge lol
Thanks, I replaced the first mount and it helped a lot with my vibration on my 2011 TC. On the next oil change, I'll replace the other two. Only $38 for the three and it fixed my problem. Thanks for the video.

Ah I love it, very true! My biggest irritation (maybe it's just me) I cannot find a rear door unlock button on these things inside the the cab/front seat area. I always have to use the key fob and if the engine is still running, it's always in the ignition and I have to go push the button to open the rear doors. I like to warm it up on the winter while I'm loading stuff into the back of it before taking off...anyway, please tell me I'm dumb and I missed how to do this!

Ford seems to have dropped the ball with their engine mounts. I had a similar problem with the hydraulic mount in an '01 Focus a few years back. Made a god-awful racket, banging away under torque, or just a horrible vibration and rattling when cruising - and it didn't help that I drive manual trans, so it thumped every time I had to shift. What a pain in the arse.
Ah my 2011 just rolled to 125k and has developed this issue...I see this 2012 had 120k or so on the odometer. It's a fleet vehicle so technically I can't work on it myself so I'll have to take it into an authorized shop to do this repair. Thanks for the tip, helps me know what to ask for!

Great video. The Sportster up on the lift caught my attention. Any bike videos coming? Just changed the intake seals on my evo sportster. It was a pain getting the bolts off until I sprang for the special wrench, wish I was good at making my own tools like you.

Another quality repair as usual. Transit sounded like it might have an exhaust leak to me...am I hearing things?
I was looking at a Transit and it had a low speed vibration and didn't buy it. After watching this, maybe I will give the guy another offer. Looks relatively easy to do.
The design seems a little funky, but it is nice you don't have to replace the whole bracket. Cool hood release.

Did you use a aftermarket replacement part? Reason I ask is I can't find an OEM Ford part without the complete housing and not just the rubber alone.

I'm having the same vibration problem but that mount doesn't look anything like the one you pulled off. Could it still be bad or is it another mount?
That hood release is a stupid and inconvenient idea somebody got paid way too much money to design! If I hadn't seen this there may have been hammers, extra large prying devises and/or a cutting torch involved.....Just kidding.....maybe. How many mounts transit have? I ve been told that i have same problem by garage.
I can't believe that Ford still uses that style mount since they are so problematic. The newer Focus uses that style of mount as well as other Ford shitheaps and i must have changed at least dozen of them as well as the torque strut behind the engine at the bottom. They sure do vibrate badly when they fail. The customer thinks that you're amazing when you're done the repair. LoL Well done, Will.

Ford Transit mounts have been replaced constantly on the van I'm driving. Most recently 3 days ago and it's failing again.
What about the third motor mount underneath?

The disassembling & assembling on the bench takes longer than the removal from the engine bay... must be the euro engineering. =)

My work van vibrates a lot when I accelerate, we changed a part that is connected to the Axel but it continues to vibrate, can someone help me?
I have a 2017 with the same symptoms. It's still under warranty, but the Ford dealer refuses to replace the motor mount. Says it's within specs. It looks like I'll have to pay for and replacement the mount myself. I'll never buy another Ford!
This is what my company vehicle does ugh!
Ford reccomends changing the motor mounts every time you change the oil.

Pretty simple except for the bending of tabs, not sure why ford would do this, anyway who cares Will is back and I cut loose ford 30 years ago.

other lesson, don't bother with aftermarket mounts, they'll either vibrate from the start or fail in a month......
May be my 4k monitor but video was out of focus most of video. Like maybe auto focus was disabled (on manual) good video though.
Yup I noticed this during Editing as well.. was a little late at that point 🤷♂️ shot this with my old go to camcorder... used to be great. Thank you for the feedback.. I’m going to check the settings

Those mounts are Notorious for failing! And they surly let you know lol rattle trap or fix me 🤑😅
@@robinsonsauto now the tire (horseshoe light) came on. Is it the brake or possibly shocks?
@@lawyerbill68 dose it have a explanation mark in the center of it? I’m pretty sure you are referring to the “low tire pressure” light? Check tire pressures
The best way to avoid problems with your ford is to buy a Honda or Toyota.
