I just love this video. I am not a sewer, so, the way you presented how to make this made it easy! I'm making this and also your piggy hammock. I did crochet two piggy cave/beds, I lined them with fleece. My daughter has two baby guinea pigs and I'm helping her a little bit by making items for them. I can't wait to try out more of your tutorials. Thanks so much for creating these, they're so we'll presented!!
You have no idea how much you helped my bunny with this tutorial. I'm learning to sew to be a able to spay her and basically cover her needs. Thank you.
Very nice job! I'm totally making one of these for my daughter's piggies! Quick tip from an experienced sewist (please don't be offended! I just see where you could make this easier for yourself): Instead of marking the fabric an inch away from the foam on all sides, just cut a 17.5" x 12" piece of both cotton and fleece fabric. With 1" foam, your seam allowance should be about 1/2", if you're using a machine to sew.
I agree. Some of this could have been simplified. I ended up doing my own thing which made much more sense. Think she made it a little harder for herself than it needed to be. Good tutorial though. But I think I’ll find other tutorials for future projects. I think you either get on with someone’s way of doing things or you don’t. Also 8 oz wadding does exactly the same thing as upholstery foam and it’s a lot cheaper and easier to get hold of.
thanks for this tutorial, hand sewing is not my forte, but dont have a sewing machine either, and all videos ive seen, were with sewing machines. i will give my best to make this ,not once but twice, for my 2 lovely guinea pigs.
Very easy and adorable! Mine fell over when the animals bumped against it, because the foam arch made it top heavy. I made a little matching mattress to lay on top of the bottom fleece and that solved it. Our chinchillas love it, snuggled up inside together all the time.
I made one of these tonight and added a back to make an igloo instead of a tunnel. Used a sewing machine. Hand stitching just adds unnecessary time onto projects. Getting some pet rats soon so I’m making lots of things for their cage. I might have to make a couple for my two guineapigs though. Wish I could upload a picture of the one I made to this comment but I can’t. 😫 I tweaked the method as some of this Just didn’t make sense so I simplified it as I went along. Had fun doing this 😊
I absolutely loved this tutorial as I could actually understand it! my guinea pigs adored the tunnel I made them. thanks so much for making this tutorial!!😀
i started watching your vids very helpful thank you! i made a soft fleece tunnel for my pigs and they moved it so that they both could fit in it :) they love it very much thanks to you!
Forgot to add in the tutorial that these tunnels wash well even without sewing the foam to the fabric. I have made at least 5 of these now & after multiple washes they have retained their shape really well! However if you have concerns, you can easily sew one or two lines through the middle to secure the foam directly to the fabric. 😊
I was just about to ask that question so thanks! Did you have to hand wash them or did you use a washer? Also do they have to air dry or are the dryer safe too? Thanks 😁
I like this one better LOL!! I wonder if you doubled on the bottom layer and Sewed it together then,Sew it to the top of the tunnel... If it would be a more thicker more plush bottom??? Then I could make a tee tee pad for the inside!! HAGD sweetheart this month will fly by!! Before I know it..I'll will be watching new videos in your new room, with a new cage!!! xoxoxoxo Shey
+Sheywh12 I think that would be a great idea! I will hopefully be doing a slight twist on this tunnel design once moved (like I mentioned to you on fbk), hopefully that'll be much more plush & bigger! xx
I write notes on taking care of guinea pigs every day and I have gathered knowledge about them for almost a year. Am I ready to get two? I plan on getting two boars that already know each other.
On your instructions at the very beginning, I'm confused. You say to leave 1" around the foam when cutting out the cotton fabric and then you also say to leave at least 1cm from the foam to the 1" line. I don't understand. Doesn't the 1" marking cover the 1cm as well?
+love Ebony I buy mine from this seller on Ebay :) I get the 20 x 20 x 1 which is 99p! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321237510150?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=510173935594&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Wonderful video I will be making a video on no sew cage pass and liners :) but u would love to learn to sew but I can't sew. You have very nice sewing skills
I wish these videos would talk to instruct how to do it since ppl like me with four kids can hear what their doing and can look away without going back pausing to read and all that. Great video but just wish there was a voice to instruct as well.
+Jessica Porter Thank you Jessica! & yes I have with my Christmas/Birthday money :) it's of my late cat Mr Socks. It's covered up an old awful tattoo! x

You are such a talented young lady, very proud of you! By the way I like all your DIYs!

+Oliver Cook Thank you! So glad you love them :D
I loved this video! Tomorrow I am going to the store to get more fabric and foam to try this out!!!
how well do they hold up in the washer machine?
Forgot to add in the tutorial that these tunnels wash well even without sewing the foam to the fabric. I have made at least 5 of these now & after multiple washes they have retained their shape really well!

LOL THAT WAS MY NEXT QUESTION!! ROFL!!
It worked really well thanks
I was just about to ask that question so thanks! Did you have to hand wash them or did you use a washer? Also do they have to air dry or are the dryer safe too? Thanks 😁
Can you make the floor with a Sherpa fabric?
You don’t need foam. 8 oz wadding does exactly the same job as foam and it’s cheaper and easier to get hold of
This is so beautiful you are talented to be able to make this😊❤💞
Thank you sweetie! 💗
So cute and such a great idea!
+Maddie's Farm Thank you!
Will do it for my lil piggy 😍 thanks for the tutorial ! 😘

If I want a longer tunnel, the measure that needs to be longer is the 10inches??
Can these be washed and can you black off the back of it. Thanks thinking about doing this for ratties
super j'adore ,grâce a vous je vais pouvoir essayé de faire des beaux tunnels pour mes cochons

Shannon Lee You do know that males can be housed together as well, right?

On my Facebook page or on Instagram :) Although, I think you already have! hehe.

can you keep it flat as a bed thing for them?
