Even though I have no interest in 'masculine' fragrances but I like to watch your videos because the way you break the notes down and give your viewpoint, it's very different than lot of other reviewers. Thanks for being original.
Thank you, Peter, so much for your most intelligent and informative reviews! I'm trying to make some fragrances myself, and your channel is my favourite. Good luck with everything you're up to!
FragranceView Yes I did! And thank you so much for including sample of fantastic Kazimi! It's like you knew I wanted to try that one! Very generous of you. Thank you so much
I have only tried Duro, Baraonda and Pardon, and the last one is my favorite by far. Great review, I liked a lot the details you gave on the synthetic materials. Cheers!
Your description actually sounds good... I feel that this synthethic base might also be prevalent in the fragrance Dates Delight by The House of Oud. I've never smelled Black Agar directly, but your description reminded me so much of it.
Great review - I do love this fragrance, along with Pardon, but your critique is really interesting. Now that you've gotten more acquainted with various synthetics has your opinion of Pardon changed at all? Do you notice some common accords like you notice in Duro?
A great "technique" review. I think we need more of reviews in this direction. This will help to understand the magic(s) behind good fragrances. I think, behind each great/unique fragrant there is a great/unique main accord, i.e., a combination of aroma materials. I own Cashmeran (the regular one) and I totally agree with you about Joop WOW. The only think I can add is that Joop WOW last longer that Cashmeran does (I had this impression at least). Does Cashmeran Velvet last longer than regular Cashmeran w.r.t. your tests, IFF says no, both lasts only 48 hours. By the way, I can (try to) understand that because you want to lunch you own fragrances you therefore (have to) hide some information about your work/accords/knowledge. If I may, I have a suggestion for you. I would appreciate to see a youtube "practical" series of fragrance accords (standard ones as well as new ones). I mean accords not entire fragrances. In a series, you could describe/show the basic construction of an accord, discus you experiences with it, discus how the basic composition can be taken to different directions, and maybe also discus witch commercial fragrance use which version of the accord. This could also be done in corporation with other experts. Now after writing this I can see the following words "open source fragrance accords/formulas". This is just a suggestion.
Thank you for this, I loved your comparison with the note on either hand. Back your comments and findings up with actual logic and tests. I'm in the process of buying ingredients and recreating a twist on a scent I can no longer purchase, and you are very helpful. What other channels do you find are helpful? Cheers cobber 🍻
I like my Duro a lot. But then I also know the effect where knowledge sort of disenchants my perception of a fragrance (and so far I learned way less than you!). Please don't let your curiosity on details spoil your perfume passion! Keep up the great work with this channel, so valuable and interesting!
Excellent!!! Most frag fans dont have a clue what goes into their favorite (expensive) perfumes. The whole industry does 'cheat'.. but they dont lie. They never tell you the notes are 'natural source' to begin with, people only assume based on reputation and price. Also, most people are not going to invest in a 'scent library'.. so they are never going to know what real oud, civet, or dear musk smells like. Thank you for your honesty, it's hard to find here. And dont worry about 'bursting anyone's bubble', it still smells awesome, just not the real thing :)
I totally get what you mean, and can imagine the backlash as well. People are just so strange; they seems not to let anyone's right to have an opinion alone... 🙄 I imagine this is about your thoughts on Oud Satin Mood or latest Amouage release (well, not the latest now, since they released another one called "Beach Hut", a true WTF moment which I can't shake off of me since I came across with it 😅) Figment Man... I know you probably almost hate Interlude Man, but if I had a right to suggest you anything to review this could be one of them; I hope you will do that at some point. Your reviews are one of a kind, and precious. I am glad to see your untarnished stance and proud to be a subscriber to your channel. Another great review. Highly appreciated. With much love; Murat
Interesting review well done. My favorite from this house is Baraonda i own that one now i want to buy another one and it is between black afgano, duro and pardon. I like them all but if i remember right i liked Duro the most but i will try them again and see...
It used to be a very cheap note, the price in the recent year has gone up with the popularity of the note being used.. but it's still considered pretty cheap now
Hi Peter, I noticed that on a few of your UA-cam posts, that you Like "Pardon" very, very much. When you get the chance, would you review "Opus VI" by Amouage. To me, Opus VI is similar to Pardon, but on Steroids. Opus VI is stealth mode in comparison to the much loved Pardon. It would be great to see your outtake on the two.
You are becoming my favorite fragrance reviewer. I also have Aventus, Oud Satin Mood, Pardon and I'm going to buy Tuscan Leather. Need to add It's not because of you or your personal tastes. I'd rather say it's just coincidence that we share similar taste in dark, elegant and sexy fragrances :) Also, I'm very suspicious that Pardon has oud note. I can smell only sandalwood. What do you think about it? And tell me, what is the name of the ending song? :)
Check out Rasasi La Yuqawam Pour Homme first before Tuscan Leather, it's much cheaper.. smells the same.. I am sure Pardon uses a synthetic Oud, it's just not the same one that's used in Duro.. or if it is, it's used in a lower amount, and blended with other things.. Song is ProleteR - Romance
I really like the song :) Well, I don't do blind buy and slight difference in smell can seem big for my nose. I need animalic notes form TL. Anyway thanks for response!
Like yourself I'm an amateur perfumer. After testing a few commonly used synthetics, I must say that the magic of some formally mysterious perfumes has been somewhat spoiled.
I also don't like Duro and i hate the dry down. I prefer Pardon. In my opinion Orca by matriarch and pardon are the most luxurious fragrances and that what should a niche perfume smells like.
you're completely right, but it works amazingly on men skin, and it's too, too sexy :P gnam! definitely a winter fragrance... during summer time, it almost stinks and it's too heavy! Sorry, ahahha... it's one of my favourite fragrance
Pardon is safe... for now : ). It makes perfect sense since clone houses are able to copy or even surpass the originals at a fraction of the price. The answer is cheap and synthetic materials. But if it smells really nice, performs and being sold at a very reasonable price then I guess the use of synthetics are immaterial. If what the reviews of Alexandria fragrances are really what they are, then I think it will be a major disruption to the frag world - much cheaper alternatives that are better than the OGs will have huge impact on consumer buying patterns, production of new perfumes by the big houses and even the smaller ones or those that are just starting like yourself. How will the original creations be able to compete against the ever improving clones? As a consumer, I have to admit that I will give my money to the one that gives me more bang for it which the majority of us will re: La Yuqawam vs Tuscan Leather.
Yup, it's going to be a cat and mouse game. Not trying to discourage you or anything but I am really very curious where all this will lead to. Thanks, Peter.
Big-headed and arrogant because you break down fragrance notes? 🙄 I appreciate it. I should try this again. I first tried it when I was new to this hobby, and my nose had almost the same reaction as it did with IA's Slow Explosions- an interesting industrial rubber smell. Now I think it was an oud-ish note I was picking up (maybe the black agar?). Now that I'm comfortable with oud maybe I'd like it more. I have yet to purchase my first Nassamato. The price point is high so I need to be in love.
People said it to me believe it or not... maybe I am too confident in the way I say " this is what it is.. " I even had " your nose isn't that good " told to me too.
I've never bothered with this one. Reviews don't really fit my personality. I do enjoy Pardon as well. I feel like it's almost time to start ordering some syntheics, just for fun.
Hi Peter, awesome viseo as always! Please do not let the negativity get to you - you cannot ever please everyone! There are plenty of people who appreciate and enjoy your videos, so keep doing what you are doing! ;) Been to Liberty London yesterday, got my nose on loads of different niche perfumes - they now have a massive Le Labo counter there, so if you are in London do check Liberty out, it's on the ground floor. I picked up their latest Fragrance brochure - let me know if you want it, happy to post it to you! BTW, I don't know if a Perfume exhibition at Somerset House would be of interest to you, it runs until 17th of September. I am thinking of going next week.
Thank you! That's cool.. I haven't been to London in a long time, I am going to Dubai on Monday.. so I won't be around for the exhibition! There's one in Florence too, a big one.. hundreds of niche and indie brands will be there, I'll miss that too!
FragranceView yeah i get that as well. i think it depends on the personal perception as well. but Duro should contain about 25% cashmeran ("composition wise" of course) / you can find this information on some sites... (not all of them are in english)
Oh you would be shocked how much synthetic ingredients a nose experienced with raw perfumery materials smells in both niche and indie scents if you were holding that belief, dear friend. They definitely use it; and some heavy, heavy, heavily. For instance to my nose, some MFK fragrances are entirely synthetic. Same goes with Montale and Mancera, or Bond No 9, etc... That doesn't necessarily mean they are bad though. It takes much much more than just getting some synthetics and mixing them in a bottle. Sometimes you pick exactly what ingredients used in some compositions and that what blows your mind; to see how they came up with using those particular material together, and how to tame them masterfully to work together in harmony. That's the beauty of it. Sometimes when you test a fragrance on yourself you see how little effort put in it and on that moment the feeling of people being ripped off grows bigger and bigger in your mind. I suppose that is the feeling we observe with Peter about this one. I haven't tested this fragrance yet other than smelling it on a friend a year ago or so. I have a small sample of Black Agar Givco together with some other Givco labeled materials. It exactly smells resinous, spicy with a dark woody back bone and if you blend it with labdanum it smells exactly like leather (depending on your blending skills, of course). I would be heart broken if I have the same experience Peter had cause it's a pre-built accord and I kind of remember this fragrance resembling that really... :\
People who say they buy niche because they use natural ingredients and thats why it cost over 300-400 dollars . The people who think Roja Dove uses nothing but top quality natural ingredients
Every perfume in the world unless they state it's a Natural House, use a lot of synthetics.. Certain houses will just cherry pick a few quality natural notes to be highlighted, but the back bone is usually all synthetic.. Roger Dove doesn't make his own perfumes, he's a creative director, not a master perfumer.. he pays Robertet to make them for him to his ideas. They do use synthetics, but like I say, cherry pick the quality notes.
FragranceView, it's interesting sometimes, but not too often) off course it is a research for you in the context of the fact that you make a perfume by yourself. Anyway, thanks for the video✌
Even though I have no interest in 'masculine' fragrances but I like to watch your videos because the way you break the notes down and give your viewpoint, it's very different than lot of other reviewers.

Thanks for being kind!
Thank you, Peter, so much for your most intelligent and informative reviews! I'm trying to make some fragrances myself, and your channel is my favourite. Good luck with everything you're up to!
Cheers, good luck!
I am so enjoying this kind of reviews: informed, honest, personal. You quickly became my favorite reviewer!
Thanks! Did you get your Matriarch sample I sent?
FragranceView Yes I did! And thank you so much for including sample of fantastic Kazimi! It's like you knew I wanted to try that one! Very generous of you. Thank you so much
very welcome!!
Excellent review on this one, Peter! Keep going...you're doing an extremely great job!!
Thanks Max
Enjoyed this review. Thanks Peter. Have only tried Nassomatto fragrances briefly once. Need to try them again.
You might like Baraonda the most, I think it's the most broad appealing.. nicely done
Great review man, very interesting to hear about what actually goes into our fragrances!
Cheers man
I have only tried Duro, Baraonda and Pardon, and the last one is my favorite by far. Great review, I liked a lot the details you gave on the synthetic materials. Cheers!
Cheers!
Great video Peter I have some oils myself. It makes you appreciate fragrances knowing how hard it is to formulate a master piece.
Cheers
Your description actually sounds good... I feel that this synthethic base might also be prevalent in the fragrance Dates Delight by The House of Oud. I've never smelled Black Agar directly, but your description reminded me so much of it.
I've never smelled that one!

I don't watch any other channels for making perfume.. so I can't recommend any!
Great review Peter!! Always bring it man.. keep it up!! Have you tried Baroanda? I think your like it.
I reviewed it!!
I like my Duro a lot. But then I also know the effect where knowledge sort of disenchants my perception of a fragrance (and so far I learned way less than you!). Again very informative!

Good assessment. Only criticism is the length of time you spent being apologetic for your opinion. If people don't like what you say...f' em.
True

Thank you, yeah the Beach Hut made me a little shocked too.. strange
Interesting review well done. My favorite from this house is Baraonda i own that one now i want to buy another one and it is between black afgano, duro and pardon. I like them all but if i remember right i liked Duro the most but i will try them again and see...
Nice review, Peter! Have you tried Black Afgano by Nasomatto? If yes, what are your thoughts on it?
Over a year ago, I'd need to buy a fresh sample and re visit it like I did with this one!
Thanks for the dissection. Are these particular synthetics cheap? That would matter a lot especially at the prices they are charging at.
It used to be a very cheap note, the price in the recent year has gone up with the popularity of the note being used.. but it's still considered pretty cheap now
Great review!!
Thanks Ryan!
This is one of my all time favorite fragrances I wish all of them smelled like this!
I am glad they don't lol
I love this scent
I know a lot of people do!
One of my favs..have most from this house.Black Afgano I rock the most.Cheers.
Cheers!
Loved this video!
Thank you!!
Great review brother and we trust your nose, i've both Pardon based on your review and i don't regret it. Thanks again.
Cheers!

BOLD IN A HEROIC WAY, THE FRAGRANCE OF A LION!!!
I absolutely love this juice
You are becoming my favorite fragrance reviewer. I also have Aventus, Oud Satin Mood, Pardon and I'm going to buy Tuscan Leather. Need to add It's not because of you or your personal tastes. I would love to see a review of black phantom by killan !!!
I read about it, doesn't sound too much my taste to be honest
Between Duro and Baraonda which is a better scent ? And which has a Larger Projection ?
That depends purely on personal taste and personal opinion.... both have about the same projection
Like yourself I'm an amateur perfumer. After testing a few commonly used synthetics, I must say that the magic of some formally mysterious perfumes has been somewhat spoiled.
Tell me about it...
I love this juice defo a winter fragrance tho. Not for summer time
Have you ever heard of a fragrance called " Egyptian Musk " ?
If so, could you make it ?
I've never tried it
I also don't like Duro and i hate the dry down. I prefer Pardon. In my opinion Orca by matriarch and pardon are the most luxurious fragrances and that what should a niche perfume smells like.
Orca is very beautiful
Do you think this is better for an arrogant boss than Pardon or Black Afgano?
Duro would work for that sure
you're completely right, but it works amazingly on men skin, and it's too, too sexy :P gnam! definitely a winter fragrance... during summer time, it almost stinks and it's too heavy! Sorry, ahahha... it's one of my favourite fragrance

Maybe it will start forcing the original creators to use better materials so the clone houses are not able to copy them with cheap synthetics
Yup, it's going to be a cat and mouse game. Not trying to discourage you or anything but I am really very curious where all this will lead to. Thanks, Peter.
pandora p I do... integrity! Peter is top tits to me 😙😌
I 💖 him. 🌹📖🐚🔱
What's your opinion on synthetics / synthetic bases in Creed fragrances?
Big-headed and arrogant because you break down fragrance notes? 🙄 I appreciate it.
I should try this again. I first tried it when I was new to this hobby, and my nose had almost the same reaction as it did with IA's Slow Explosions- an interesting industrial rubber smell. I even had " your nose isn't that good " told to me too.
Sounds like jealousy rearing its ugly head if you ask me.
Great video Peter and the hell with the haters.
I dunno man..
brilliant!
Thanks
black afgano or pardon? which sexiest one
Pardon - but it's personal opinion of course
FragranceView aporeciate👍
I've never bothered with this one. Reviews don't really fit my personality. I do enjoy Pardon as well. I feel like it's almost time to start ordering some syntheics, just for fun.
It's a bit of a rabbit hole
Man Aaron Terence Hughes has very similar views like you.
Great 👍👏
thanks!
Is only me here that reminds me Gucci pour Homme 1 ?
You should get your nose 👃 on le labo another 13 before it gets discontinued in December mate
Hard to get hold of Le Labo in the UK
Hi Peter, awesome viseo as always! Please do not let the negativity get to you - you cannot ever please everyone! There are plenty of people who appreciate and enjoy your videos, so keep doing what you are doing! ;)

This fragrance actually is a cashmeran bomb
I disagree... I smell the cashmeran like I say in the video, but it's the synthetic oud that's the main note

I've never looked it up... but it doesn't surprise me
So this debunks the theory that niche doesn't use synthetic only natural ingredients

Hi! 🎈😘
Hello!
Sometimes you talk about the fragrance like a butcher on a cow😊 here is the liver and this is the heart)) don't you think that magic is lost?
Would you rather me not say what it is?
FragranceView, it's interesting sometimes, but not too often) off course it is a research for you in the context of the fact that you make a perfume by yourself. Anyway, thanks for the video✌
Are you not tired of being a sheep, paying the wolf. Smh, Olga.
Sorry Olga, it's not every video where I can detect a specific synthetic like that... so it won't happen every time
Olga Odin the wolves are people that use little integrity, knowing the advantage they hold over the unimformed. Never regret learning. Peace out 💌
First?
Looks like
