Black Afgano is a scent that is a memorable part of my journey. I sampled it first on youtube in 2010 and the journey began dominating many of my niche top 10/20 lists. It's time for it's full review.

There's a few . All depends on how I'm feeling.
I have Pardon, Black Afgano and Baraonda.
I like Duro also, but the performance from when I sampled it was lackluster.
Pardon is my favorite. BA always had a dank quality in the dry down which I do not enjoy so much.

I tried black afgano in like 2014 or 2015 and it was ok to me. Now 2021 I absolutely love it! I don't know if it has been reformulated or my sense of smell has just evolved. But its absolutely beautiful to myself
you have aged, happens alot we like darker more mature scents when we get older

Kick ass graphics Mark. Nailed it with that bark description. This is the fragrance that has probably gotten me the most criticism over the years, so I basically just switched to Gucci's Intense Oud. I still like to rock it from time to time though. If I want to feel like Anakin Skywalker... "you DON'T know the POWER of the dark side!!!"
Superb review Mr Robes. Black Afgano is a BANGER and a masterpiece, and depending on where you are a very interesting wearing experience. Don't wear this at church or around police dogs. Always a place on my shelf for this one.

I still love this scent... And you have one of those really old bottles with the "S" before it said Nasomatto on the bottom... My bottle is like that too and instead of a normal 'batch code' it just has a '12' printed on the bottom... LOL!!! Dark green juice that is very oily... Awesome job as always Marc... ^_^

I have xerjoff laylati which I heard is like a toned down black afgano. It isn't my favorite xerjoff to wear, but it works well if layered w something more interesting on top. Laylati smells like it is missing a note or two. It's like a band without a lead guitar kind of. I can only assume black afgano is the complete rock band.
Many Xerjoff's feel incomplete so I hear you.

It’s funny to look at my collection and see that I’ve used about 15 ml over about 5 years on this bottle versus all my many others with 5 ml missing. Shows how much I really have enjoyed it.

just bought this. I went to scentbar in NYC to buy a oud and just tried Afgano to check it out and loved it right away.
This was another blind buy from your top 20 lists. My wife always knows when I'm wearing black afgano. And it's not a positive reaction. Of the four I own :
1. Baraonda (no doubt)
2. Black Afgano
3. Pardon
4. Duro

Im go end up liking it once I put it on. It's smooth and dark 2021 I just bought it no more than 3sprays. Not a everyday wear .
Ok I’ve been on the fence on this given I’m relatively new in my fragrance journey…screw it im in! I turned the corner on xerjoff richwood…Amouage Jubiliation XV…my nose is maturing…I’m pushing forward.

Never really receive compliments but I do when I wear it. I get a lot of you smell great.
Boy, I need to report something, I bought the original Black Afgano in decant and after a few uses the spray bottle got stuck, I realized that it was stuck and spraying very little, I thought the essence had run out but no, I just bought it, I fixed it pulling it upwards, then the smell started to appear different, with somewhat metallic facets, without so many nuances of coffee, it's as if it presented a smell that hadn't been captured, it may have remained at the bottom of the extract. There are other resins in the outlet. In my ignorance I ended up using the decant as it was a perfume extract for the essential oils to mix. Does anyone know what could have happened?

There is a lot of talk on fragrantica about Gucci Intense Oud reformulation and how bad it is now, so could you do a comparison video in the near future so we could know what are the differences and which batches are good. Regards from Serbia
I completely agree that you you should always at least SMELL a sample of the original before considering to purchase a fragrance that was "inspired by," created as an inexpensive alternative, or straight up CLONED. I often see people buy a "Clone," of a fragrance and is disappointed with that clone's scent and assuming that's what the original is and dismissing the original altogether. Then year's later finally getting their nose on the original fragrance that clone was inspired by and realizing what they were missing out on and actually loving the original fragrance.
I am not against buying clones of fragrances. I own several because sometimes I enjoy the slight differences a clone may have over an original composition, or simply I enjoy the similar DNA more liberally at a far more affordable price. With that said, I am against buying clones without knowing what the original fragrance smells like which those clones are "copying." If you are buying a clone without knowing the original fragrance you are essentially BLIND BUYING and I don't generally recommend that to anyone.
I really like the fragrance but I dont think it's worth the RRP. I would have a bottle if they were cheaper/bigger for the money. Even at discounters I dont think it justifies the money and i feel insecure with a 30ml bottle. It Might run out 👀

Classic review mate. Love this juice as well. I purchased it in 2011.
Still my favourite. I was a big fan of Pardon, but when my decant ran out, I wasn't jumping to repurchase. This my decant has been done for a while, and it's on my top buy list. I've heard it's not as good with reformulation, so I'm hoping it's not a big drop off.
Excellent review Marc. Your video/UA-cam skill is at a 10. BA is dark and mysterious but if you buy it because you want weed based fragrance this is not it

I’m a woman living in hot and humid Mumbai -30-40 degree Celsius most of the year. Don’t like florals and sweet fragrances hence the “male” category is what I normally reach into. Strangely drawn to this one. Will it work?
