Would someone in the field of Public Health, working in Epi have an ease in transitioning in to Health Informatics?

Yes this is a good field to transition into health informatics with a prior background in Epi. Some common technical tools used in the analytical side of health informatics include:
Knowledge of SQL programming language to query relational databases.
Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.…
Experience with data cleansing tools such as R, Python or SAS
Experience working with large clinical datasets
Ability to work both independently and in teams

At this point I'm indecisive on what grad school is best. I know I will be a part-time and online student. So many schools offer programs for Masters in Health Informatics. Any suggestions? I do know I'm interested in Data Analyst.

Hi Katerina, I work in Health Informatics but my degree was in Biomedical Engineering so I don't know of any specific programs.
I would choose the program that has a stronger co-op or internship component. When it comes to job hunting, I have found that when it comes to getting that first entry-level role, those who have work experience as part of their degree often have a leg up compared to other applicants. Do any of the programs have placements at nearby hospitals or healthcare centers? For me, this would be the deciding factor versus the specific degree concentration.
Another consideration would be the technical skills you might learn in the program, if you are learning skills such as SQL, Tableau/Power BI these skills can help you to transition into many different industries from Healthcare to the private sector, therefore, it might be easier for job hunting.

Have you looked at roles with titles: Clinical Analyst, Clinical Decision Support or Healthcare Data Analyst, these roles are more technical focused and might not require a RN
