      Some roles in the health informatics field include: business intelligence analyst, systems analyst, reporting analyst and/or clinical analyst. If you are looking for comparable job descriptions, one tip I have is to search on LinkedIn Jobs or Indeed: "SQL" + "Healthcare" or "Power BI" + "Healthcare" to get a sense of the job roles and see if this is of interest to you. If you look at this career map from AHIMA my.ahima.org/careermap, the Informatics and Data Analytics sections would be relevant to you.

    I have my BS in Heathcsre Administration and have been working as a financial analyst for 3 years and now heavily considering my masters in health informatics. I am worried about having a lack of clinical/medical terminology under my belt, also I’m not huge into math either.. do you think I would be okay in my classes?

    • @healthanalyticinsights
      @healthanalyticinsights 25 днів тому

      Hello, I work in health informatics but my degrees are in biomedical engineering so I wouldn't be able to comment on the course material for a master's in health informatics. However, I think that since you have prior experience working as a financial analyst you probably have a good grasp on technical tools such as Excel and Power BI so this should help you with the technical aspect. In terms of the clinical terminology there are several resources online here is a free resource here: www.healthit.gov/topic/health-it-resources/health-it-curriculum-resources-educators but you should be able to pick it up during your class, good luck!

      Hello, are you looking to go into the area of healthcare analytics? If so, health informatics would be a good degree to study. It depends on the career you are hoping to work towards. If you were a healthcare provider, what would your path be to transition to healthcare informatics? Is a formal degree required?

    • @healthanalyticinsights
      @healthanalyticinsights 2 місяці тому

      Hello Jon if I were a healthcare provider I would see if my healthcare organization has a business intelligence or clinical decision support department and see if I could job shadow to understand any technical skill gaps and then pivot into this industry. I would also learn SQL and a data visualization tool such as Power BI and lean on my network to understand if there are any available opportunities before seeking out a degree. If I wanted to work on the clinical side of health informatics and I was currently working as a nurse I would try to get additional training on EHR systems, become a super-user and apply for a role as an EHR Analyst or Application Analyst, focusing on improving clinical workflow within my organization.
