I try foundations with fingers, if it's doesn't blend like butter - I'm not purchasing it. Finger application for me only. I'm 45 and I don't use concealers anymore, I look much older if I do, I just use a lighter shade my favorite foundation for more brightening effect and I'm super happy
Hi Kiki I really need primer I have found. Due to rosacea I have stretched pores on my nose and most of the centre of the face, yet I am super dry (no matter the amount of skincare and spf) around the perimeter and under the eyes as I also have eczema. Using two separate primers (one for pore smoothing and one for moisture) makes a massive difference to how my makeup looks and wears during the day - it just looks so much better. I far prefer applying with fingers and then lightly bouncing a sponge over it than using a brush, as it’s much more gentle on my easily irritated skin. I also find a green corrector indispensable for the really red areas and as I am ultra pale/cool toned it blends into my skin fairly easily. For me the base is more important than any of the colour cosmetics I use (and love) to the finished look and is where I spend most time in blending/applying. Best wishes x
100% agree that the base is everything. If I'm having a "bad base" day - it's impossible to recover from no matter what I throw at it. Yes, some people do need primers for pore filling, etc - and it's not uncommon for some people to use two as you do. The important thing is that you do what's right for you!
Great video! Can't wait till you do the concealer video. At 55, I find this whole video so helpful! I already use my fingers and sponges which give sheerer yet deeper (into the nooks and crannies 😅) coverage, I agree that pressing products is the way to go. Brushes are not great for me for foundation or concealer unless it's a thicker formula, like It! concealers. Oddly I love stick foundations now, the new one by Lancome is creamy yet medium coverage and it sets down beautifully. It can also conceal quite a bit if I am precise under the eyes.
This was a very helpful and informative video. The finish of your foundation looked beautiful on you. That’s the kind of glowy look I’d like for myself. Should probably try that one.
This is a great series. Thank you! The reboot has become my go to now as well, although sometimes the tower 28 sunny days tinted sunscreen is plenty coverage and has a nice finish. Now i just need all the other pieces.😂
You are the only person I’ve seen use the ByTerry powder. It is the best and invisible. Sometimes I even use it under powder blush and bronzer (Gucci #1) to get a seamless finish.
Thank you for you lovely in depth reviews. I am wondering if you might want to do a review on The MOB beauty cream ceramide foundation? Some are saying it’s their favorite cream foundation. Thank you 🌻
Thank you!!! I’ve just discovered that I’m a more warm yellow peachy undertone under all my pink and freckles lol holy cow my make up looks so much better ! I always thought I was cool bc of the redness 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Kiki. I'll forever be grateful for your recommendation of By Terry powder ! I found a dupe. Sydney Grace powder. Plus I love the shadows and the Viseart for older eyes.
I am an oily skinned 67 yr old and foundation and concealer is truly an experiment. Now I'm finding sunscreen is too. I love Naked Sundays! It works perfectly with my skin. I just got the elta MD, and it pulled on me. I need to use the beauty blender more, but I love my bk 101! I do love the mini beauty blenders! I have 3. Right now, I also love the haus labs triclone foundation. Absolutely don't like the Tower 28 concealer.
I was super excited to get the Ellta MD because people rave about it. I put it on & it’s started tingling, then burned & I had to wash it off within 10 minutes. I shouldn’t have waited that long. My face was beet red & I had to spray it with dermalogica’s ultra calming mist. I have sensitive skin, but I’ve never had a reaction like that.
Lisa J says even after applying with her 101 she bounces a beauty blender on her skin to leave it seamless. Your skin looks very pretty. I like the by Terry too, I got a mini and it lasts forever. I am 76 it gets harder as you age and in 2020 I couldn’t get sunscreen for a while and have been left with dark patches that need concealer thank you for your tips it helps but I hate applying with my fingers don’t know why but I warm up products on the back of my hand. We live and learn😂😂😂
When I use my fingers…I don’t know…I just don’t have the right touch, I guess. Like you said, experiment and find what works. I bought an IT Cosmetics foundation brush and it’s- okay. I should try the BKB brush to see if I like it better. I have some of the eye brushes and like them. I found I favor a beauty blender over a brush, as it gives me just enough coverage to even out my complexion with a sheer finish. I don’t mind that it’s not covering all the imperfections. But you are right, it soaks up product. Going to go do my makeup now!😊
I personally love the BK Beauty brushes! I waited a while to try them and now I have most of them. They are high quality brushes. I have IT and Tarte brushes, but the BK Beauty brushes are much nicer. I especially like the Angie Hot and Flashy set. Just bought the Angie Hot and Flashy travel brushes.
@@KarenGaylor4712 thank you. I have 3 of Angie’s eye brushes, plus the concealer brush. I have one of the big BK fluffy brushes. Just didn’t think. I needed a foundation brush. Think I will stick with the beauty blender for now as I do like the finish. Who am I kidding, I will probably have to get it at some point out of sheer curiosity. Lol.
Damp. I don't know if I said this in the video. But if you can remember, dampen when you wash your face and wring out. I find by the time I get to my make-up, it's perfect.
I read "mature beginner" as someone who is beginning to be mature, like me :)
Thanks for another helpful video!

I'll do that sometimes as - just a bit of foundation under the eyes can be all many people need!

Many thanks!!!!

Cool! I also love the Viseart for older eyes!
I agree about the beauty blender! I can see no logical reason why it should be better than generic sponges, but it just is!
It's the exact finish, Beautyblender mimics real skin that's why it cannot be duped!
Some of them make me feel like I'm punching myself in the face -t- they're too dense!
Great tips! Thank you for doing this series.
You are so welcome! I'm glad you found some tips that are helpful!
pls video on concealer!!!
I will!

I've never tried the Tower concealer, so thanks for the heads up! Elta MD went orange on me - that was a hard pass - lol
