Ok, haven’t even pressed play yet… so excited for this video!!! 😁
So glad!!
Yet again… a great video. I love you talk about texture, color and radiance. I know my mood as well as time of the year makes a difference. I also feel it’s so hard to find right color to my skin. Thanks
Thank you - so glad you liked it!
I just did a foundation declutter and told myself I don't need any more foundations....but oh my that Ritual De Fille! It's calling my name!!
It's really lovely. I think shade 120 would work for you!
No one else I follow has reviewed it! I am really, really interested in this, but no one physically close to me carries it (Central AZ) and hesitant to buy online (color match is hard enough in-store; online it's a nightmare!). Please continue to discuss your experience with it - I am persuadable 😊
@@terfaliciousSteff’s beauty stash and Kackie reviews beauty have reviews on the foundation with the former on oily skin and the latter on dry skin.
Hi! We have different skin needs, but I still love watching your foundation videos. I find your videos so thorough and your voice so soothing.
Thanks, Lee!
I love the Haus, Shiseido, Kosas, Dior/MAC F&B, Armani. All have great shades for south asian skin.
I just love hearing about all of these foundations. It is so hard for me to find a great color that happens to be a great finish, too. Btw, I just adore all of your clothing. They are so lovely. ❤
Hi, So nice to hear you about foundations for mature skins or dry.
I Have a normal to combination skin sometimes dehydrated, my best is from NARS:
SHEER GLOW
it doesn't move on my skin (10-11 hours in place)
Colors are suitables for my very fair skin with neutral undertone
and it's very comfortable and not dry at all!
Great, great review, Kiki. What's funny is after trying so many foundations, I've landed on the Vitalumiere Aqua...rught amount of coverage, not too dewy,it doesn't oxidize, doesn't sit in my pores or lines...B40 is a great match for me. I do have my eye on the Cle De Peau...
That's great! We're all different and want something different from our foundations - I'm glad you love it!
Thank you for this! I also have trouble with shade matches as I am fair with muted yellow undertones. A lot of warm shades seem to be quite orange unfortunately. My best match has been Shiseido radiant lifting in 120 Ivory. I got a sample of the Kevyn Aucoin etherealist a few years ago and loved it so you’ve inspired me to look into picking this one up! Definitely underrated.
The KA is really lovely - not too dewy looking and very good shades. Look for their color wheel (it can be hard to find - it's often buried) that shows the undertones of each shade. They don't have a lot of shades, but they may have something that works for you!
So I confirm that I really. Enjoy your video. I think your forget the Monika Blunder that I bought after your recommandation 😊 My fave foundation is the Koh Gen Doh aqua foundation in the red tube
I knew I forgot a few things!
I’m a foundation addict, so I loved this! I purchased the Rituel de Fille based on your review, shade 135 since I’m slightly darker than you ….so far I love it :) The Tower 28 sunscreen …maybe use sunscreen first and just use as a light foundation over top ? Just a thought …thanks for another great video!
Thank you for putting together such a helpful video.
You're so welcome!!
Thank you ever so much for helping me, I only wear Lisa Eldridge lipsticks thanks to you. My skin is similar in kind and colour to yours, and I'm an artist, a painter aged 70. With my observation may I suggest you look at colour "3C2 Pebble" in Estee Lauder Double Wear Sheer long wearing makeup? I think you'll be surprised by this match. All the shades in this video constantly lean a little too yellow on your arm. We have far more translucency and rose colour as the years pass. Few manufacturers sell our colour today.
Great Video on Foundations, especially those I've been interested in, it was very informative. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Aloha Kiki! I've stopped wearing any foundation and just spot conceal when needed. I feel the least amount of makeup is less aging on me!🥰🌈🦋🌺🌺🌺
When you put up "Buying Foundation online is hard" my response is Amen. I find your videos helpful in many ways. However I have spent a lot of money on foundation and now I have little money so I'm going back to drugstore.
Thank you for the wonderful review of all the products. I use the Tower 28 quite frequently as a light foundation over my mineral sunscreen and love it. I used the Chanel Vitalumiere through my 30s and 40s, but it doesn't work as well any more. I also love the Givenchy, the Haus Labs, and the Charlotte Tilbury. As our tastes align, I need to try the Ritual de Fille!
It's really beautiful. They just gave me a link and discount code. The link is super long - so I have to convert that somehow - but the discount code is THEHOODEDLID for 10% off
@@TheHoodedLid Thank you!
I also have trouble getting a foundation match for my skin tone as well. I'm warm toned, but not orange!
I hear you!!
I honestly thought I had to find a foundation that matched...after buying 7!!! And none of them really 'match'...I saw an English blogger (sugar Puff and Fluff) and she just mixed her own!!! And now I put a bit of light with a bit of dark, or a bit of pink and yellow, give it a mix, dot it all over and blend...and it works! 👍👍 also some that are too heavy cover and one that's too sheer, I mix them and have the nicest fresh skin look! 👍👍
Me too! I’m yellow green with zero orange.
We have very similar skin tone and type (I'm 61) and Cle de Peau Radiant Cream Foundation is my favorite foundation out of the multitude of high end foundation brands I've tried. I also love and am currently using Cle de Peau The Foundation. I've purchased but haven't begun using their new cushion foundation. Cle de Peau foundations just work for me and the shade B10 is a perfect match for my skin.
I love the Cle de Peau I own - but they only make warm and cool shades - the swear the B is neutral, but I don't find it to be - I wish they would improve their shades!
So many foundations, so little cash! 😂 I wish I lived near a Sephora or Ulta so I could go get samples. Thank you for this video!
I feel ya! When talking $50 a bottle - thereabouts or more - I want to do a wear test before shelling out that cash! So many look good when first applied, then oxidize, transfer, get patchy or worse... and in-store looks different than sunlight. Sigh. I wish I had the time and money to spend, but as Kiki says, skin changes over the seasons too. I wish they had wear sample available over the internet so we could try them in real life!
Hi Kiki, thank you for being patient enough to go thru these foundations so that we don’t have to waste our time or money. I also think Tower28 in Melrose is a perfect color for my skin tone. Westman Atelier tinted drops in color 3 is a match to Melrose.
I feel that the WA is warmer than Melrose - which just has a touch of yellow. But next time I'm out and about, I take a closer look at it!
This is so helpful! And separately, I truly thought you were possibly mayyybee like 50. You’re so beautiful and youthful, Kiki. Your skin and hair are gorgeous!
And you’re so right to say that buying online is hard!
awww...thank you so much!
This was so informative. Thank you. I wish that I were more knowledgeable about the colors/shades that work for my face….but I suppose that trial & error will have to do for now! Thank you for the great video!
Thanks for this! I'm loving Haus Labs, all Chanel foundations & Dior Glow!
All great choices!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Dior! Even with its slight fragrance it's a favorite! And it simply wears forever!
I am waiting on my purchase of Ritual de Fille because it looked so beautiful on you in your videos about it. Should get it on Monday. I also have never ordered from Credo before so that is another new thing for me. I just hope I ordered the right shade. So hard ordering color online. Great foundation content!
I know, ordering online is so difficult. Rituel de Fille is sending me two more shades and I'll do a short video swatching on my face and arms which I hope will help people find the best shade for them!
@@TheHoodedLid Oh wonderful, cant wait to see! Thank you.
Please please please report back to us! Thank you!
This was very helpful.
You really went into detail.
The Haus Labs was a NO for me. There was something in it that just didn’t agree with my skin type. Really disappointed.😔
The Givenchy Prisme Libre Skin Caring Glow I absolutely love and it looks so natural ❤️❤️
100% agree on the Givenchy. It doesn't get enough love!
Hi Kiki. Great reviews. I use the tower 28 as a skin tint over sunscreen and to darken a too light foundation. I'm mixing if I need to. 😊
I think that's the best approach with this product!
Thank you for taking the time to go through all the foundations I've yet to find my holy grail I always find they emphasise my lines and my dry skin.hppe you have a lovely weekend 😊
You're so welcome!
This was a great video. I’m like you in that I have such a hard time finding good shades - fair golden olive with surface redness (but I’m finding my red light is helping so much). It becomes so much more about shades rather than formula. I’m going to look at both the Reboot and the Prisme Libre. I don’t think you should keep foundations unless they serve a purpose for you. Otherwise, they’re just taking up space and making you feel like you have more than you need, even though you aren’t using a lot of what’s taking up space.
Yay foundations my favorite thing ever! Not sure why I can never find a match, I’m light medium with slightly warm olive undertone so I’m out of luck with most foundations. That’s why I sheer everything out, my skin is far from perfect but I’ll take my imperfections over a orange or yellow looking mask. Great video as always, thank you!
Oh - you should try Armani - they have olive undertones. I'm seeing more and more olives out there these days - hoping you find one that works for you!
Thanks so much for your review. Foundations are so tricky! I really love Lisa Eldridge
What a fantastically fun video. I do truly thank you for always leaving a comment back . You’re so right. It does help make a person less subject to anomie. Funny that I have most of the foundations you spoke about. Have you tried the Valentino? I really like it. If I come back and leave another comment after I finish work. Thanks for your information. It really helps.
I haven't tried the Valentino, no
I use several of these foundations and my favorite changes from week to week! 😊
My favs change as well!
Hi! I love the Givenchy Prism Libre in radiant. I also use the Chanel Sublime Le Teint Radiant and Cle de Peau radiant fluid foundation. I ordered the Rituel de Fille based on your previous video on it am excited to get it. The Kevin Aucoin foundation is on their website. I need to try it. I am 65, and do not use matte foundation. I read so many reviews about the Haus labs running very yellow, so I am staying away from it. I enjoyed the video, thanks.
Thanks for watching! The Haus is beautiful, but the colors do run peach and yellow. Hard to find a neutral in my depth of tone. Hope you love the RdF!
Final comment on this one - hope this helps the algorithms. I’ve been told that I help keep the library staffed with all the books I check out. Back to my comment - I finally found my perfect shade match in Armani luminous silk and nearly so in the Haus. The latter took several tries. I think you at one time mentioned the mermaid Canmake ? as a good foundation for under most foundations. We shall see. So far so good. You’re busy posting these videos. On to view the next.
I agree the ritual de fillie is my absolute favorite….it’s perfection…
it's so pretty - I'm glad you like it, too!
I found this video on the foundations very informative!! I also for some reason have trouble returning things that don’t work😂
Hello Kiki, I watch your videos because your content is so thought out. Also in December you put up a picture of yourself, I thought that picture showed off your skin and the lipstick was stunning.
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for all the detailed information.
Thank you for all the helpful information on these foundations 🎉. My skin has changed as I age . So it’s an experiment to find a great foundation. I too like the Givenchy and Dior foundations 😊
It's remarkable how we really do need to change things up as we age - glad it was helpful!
I do love the Chanel Vitalumiere, it’s one of my favorite light to medium coverage foundations. I think you should keep it. I loved this video bye. I have and use several of the foundations you mentioned. 👍🏻😃
Great review. Your skin looks fantastic in this video.
Your attention to lighting is a real good thing. Thanks for that! If you do any updates or new foundations, would you let us know if you think they settle into lines or not.
Thanks - if I experience settling I do talk about it. It's not very common for me
First Here ! I m gonna enjoy this video for sure as I m a foundation junkie 😂
Yay! Grab a cup o' jo and enjoy
I had such high hopes for the Haus Labs and it was stunning.... for the first 30 minutes. It oxidizes terribly on me and looks really rusty by the 2 hour mark. I just watched your video on Fenty’s foundation and was astounded to find a perfect shade match with no oxidation. So a big thank you to Rihanna and you!
That's a pretty one! I think I did finish that one - but didn't repurchase as the color was slightly off for me. Glad it works for you!
@thehoodedlid. Fenty just added new shades in case you ever want to try it again.
I have fair to light olive skin so shade matching for me is almost always settling for something close but never perfect. Until the Fenty, I got my best shade match by following your videos. I still love my Charlotte Tillbury 4N, bit the Fenty is otherworldly. I so appreciate your videos. Good makeup really lifts my spirits and I’d given up until I found your channel.
I love this video, thank you so much, my needs are super similar to yours. Btw- you look fabulous and I was wondering what lipstick shade you’re wearing!
It's the Guerlain Kiss Kiss Bee Glow in Lavender!
Thank you for such an informative video. I am a medium coverage person so I’ll have to check out a few of these. 😊 Thanks again
You're welcome!
I love trying new foundations, and I have tried many of those you mentioned. Now, I have gone down the cushion foundation rabbit hole, and I’m loving the Cle de peau cushion and the Sisley cushion foundation. They are so light, glowy, but not shiny, and look like you have beautiful skin, not beautiful foundation. I alway get compliments on my skin when I wear one of these.
I recently tossed my Chantecaille Cushion, they just don't have a good shade for me...CdP, I have to mix two colors - which I can't do with a cushion - I have tried it in store and it's lovely - I would recommend to anyone who can find a shade match. I've never tried any Sisley foundations!
@@TheHoodedLid That’s so true, , you can’t mix shades with cushion foundations These have light coverage though so it’s kind of forgiving is the shade isn’t exact. We have similar skin tones and I’ve never had luck with Chanticaille’s foundation shades.
I think you missed No 1 de Chanel foundation. A solid favourite.
I actually returned that one because I knew the shade would only work for me a short while B20 - and B30 is too dark for me except in late Aug/Sept when I'm my darkest. It is beautiful, though.
Love your realness. This was highly informative. What do you think about Armani Luminous Silk?
I have two bottles upstairs - but I never wear it - Armani doesn't do a shade for me - Great for Olive and Tan skintones though. Beautiful foundation
The CT Beautiful Skin was lovely when I first bought it, but, I kept buying other newbies. I wasn’t reaching for it as much as I experimented with other brands. It oxidized in the package even though I kept in a drawer/cool room/no windows. It also seemed to thicken. I found other foundations I enjoyed much better so recently tossed it. NARS Light Reflecting is a great formula and definitely a shade challenge. The Haus Labs Triclone shade I purchased in Winter is too light now of course. Haven’t bought a shade for Spring because I think it will be too full coverage for my preference this time of year. But, I love the ABH Luminous Skin shade I bought last year for Spring/Summer. I don’t think you liked it? But I found a perfect shade. It is lightweight, seamless and my absolute favorite. Always feel my best, but I think that also has to do with loving weather May-September. Try the Channel one more time. If you don’t like it, part ways. I think you did a great job of describing shades and performance!
The ABH was okay - I tested it the same time as the Fenty came out and felt the formulas were very similar, but Fenty had a better shade for me.
That was so informative, thank you! I struggle with shade too as a very fair neutral verging toward cool. They all call themselves Porcelain or Alabaster or Ivory, but it’s rare to find a base that actually comes close to that. They nearly all lean peach or yellow or pink and they’re invariably too dark. Nars is a lost cause for me. The closest I’ve found is Cle de Peau I10 but it’s the cost of a small family car per bottle sadly 😢 So since I don’t live near a make up counter, I just get the absolute lightest neutral in every formula as a rule of thumb and hope. I’d so love to try the Rituel de Fille but I can’t find it in the UK, which is maddening because it looks amazing on you!
Have you tried Zelens foundations btw? They were doing the skincare makeup thing early on and they have a couple of formulas you *might* like though they’re not new…Youth Glow which is light to medium coverage and Age Control which is medium to full. They’re unshowy and reliable, but I admit the shade range is abysmal.
By making constant mistakes I think I am getting better at working out what’s worth trying for me and what I should stay away from, *but* my latest regret IS the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin .I should have known better; everyone loved her Airbrushed foundation too but it was like fast oxidizing glue on me. Maybe I just don’t suit her foundation formulas. 😂Thanks for another great video Kiki!
Thanks for this informative video! Ordered the Rituel yesterday based on yours and Michele Wang's reviews. TBH, none of the shades look ideal for me. I ended up ordering two shades and am hoping one of them works! Otherwise, I'll be waiting impatiently for your swatches video!
I just got two more shades in the mail and will shoot something tomorrow and will post late in the day!
Please give us a review once you get it - I am on the fence but very, very interested!
Wonderful video as always! I too have a hard time with foundation matching, some ranges don't have a color for me at all.
Same here! Armani doesn't have a shade for me which is so heartbreaking.
Hi Kiki 🙋🏻♀️😊 Great video! Loved hearing your thoughts on all these foundations. I, like you could not find a shade to suit me in Nars light reflecting. I do have Charlotte Tilbury beautiful skin in 4N but I don’t love it. Think I would like to try the Givenchy skin caring foundation as I like lighter coverage. Have a great day 😊
The Givenchy doesn't have super high coverage, but you may like it!
Hi Kiki. I’m leaving a comment! I love the comparison it certainly helps when thinking ‘I wonder if..’ etc. can I request you to film a your electronic devices, how and when you use, benefits and comparisons. Thanks stella
I working on it - but I did do a few already. Each device will get it's own video but I did something where I spoke overall as well
Hi! I love your videos!
Thanks, Nicole!
Oh And I love the Lisa Eldridge foundation 😂
I'm glad it works for you.
I was curious what you thought about the Tower 28. I haven’t tried it yet but I’ve bought mascara and liners and love them. Love the video. Thank you.
I talk about it in this video towards the end
Total foundation junkie here too and I am not a UA-camr . I have a problem . I have a light medium with pink undertones. So hard to find . Too orange with cool undertones for a lot of brands . I try color and I think they look good but don’t or I just don’t know . I look in my mirror and go outside and it looks different . I probably have over 40 foundations . Enjoy the video and explanation
Thanks for watching, Marie. I hope you find the perfect shade!
I do the same - never a 'right' match and it varies week by week, indoor vs outdoor... UGH! I really have to throw out about half my collection (in order to make room for new purchases, lol) but it's damn expensive and time consuming. Why is foundation so hard???
I wonder if the Tower 28 would work for you if applied half and half - one 'half dose' layer, let dry down, then apply the other 'half dose'? Of course if you're in a hurry, that wouldn't work, but it might for casual days? Would be interested in your results!
What a sieve brain. I forgot to ask this - do you have a favourite sunscreen for under foundations?
Not a single favorite, no.
Where did you get your earrings? So lovely!
The Real Real! Love them!
Kiki, it is not an accurate reference when it’s spoiled. The color and viscosity change. If it’s not something that works well for you but is not spoiled I think you could keep it for content.
I think I’m in the same boat as you with skin tone. I have warm ness in my body but my face has redness that I want to even out. I have historically gone with neutral foundation but lately have tried warm. However I am finding so far that the warm ones don’t do very well to cover up the redness so I need to either stick with neutral or go higher coverage o guess.
You might want to try the new Givenchy color corrector in green under your foundation before you start buying new foundations! Check out my review from about two months ago.
@@TheHoodedLid thank you!
Very helpful video. I plan on looking for a match in the Givenchy Prisme Libre. I love the lip gloss/stick(s) you are wearing in this video. Would you mind sharing what brand and shades you are wearing here? Thanks!
I feel certain it's the Guerlain Kiss Kiss Bee Glow in Lavendar - I've been hitting that one pretty hard lately!
@@TheHoodedLid Thank you!
I absolutely love your earrings! I have been looking for hoops just like them, along with dangling jewel! Do you mind revealing where you found them? Love your channel, and style.💕
Thank you - these are probably 12 years old and for all those years they were all I wore. I found them at a little shop on Montana Ave. in Santa Monica. I think they were simply artist made - not a big chain, mass produced earring. You could probably have them made. Mine were actually peridot and I lost a stone a few years ago when the hoop opened - I had a someone make the blue topaz for me to add to the hoops.
@@TheHoodedLid thank you for responding, they are just beautiful! I will keep my eye out for something similar. Love artist made vs big chain, makes them all the more special!☺
Kiki, can you speak to the difference between the Surratt Dew Drop and the Surreal Wand? Thanks!
The Surreal Wand has more coverage. I feel it's a strong medium - while the Dew Drop is light coverage. I can't speak to texture, because I use the wand to apply.
@@TheHoodedLid Thanks!
I have the same exact issue finding a good shade. I have red cheeks but I have neutral peachy undertones. My perfect match is Chanel BD41 but only in the N1 foundation. I find that the Japanese brands offer very limited shade ranges and way too pinky. I am so mad at Cle de Peau because their formulation is stunning but their shades suck. I find most companies offer very little for medium tones, they go from 10 shades in light to 10 shades in tan or deep and 2 in medium. Makes me so mad
Thank you for your reviews! For me, it's all about the pursuit. I can have the most perfect product and love it like crazy but the next day, I am still looking for the next one! My bank account suffers because of it but we all need a hobby. 😎p.s. Trash the chanel.....
I know, the pursuit - it's really something. In the back of my head I'm thinking, "maybe there's something better..." I did Trash the Chanel - it's soooo old
@@TheHoodedLid Good for you! I have several needing the bin but its so hard to do... out they go!
😊Hi!
No suqqu???
I KNEW I forgot something. So far, I forgot three. This one sits out on my table always, but I guess I got used to "seeing" it there and therefore, didn't "see" it. I LOVE this one. SO pretty!
Thx! 😍 and whats on yr eyes and lips? U look perfect!!!
👍
Put in trash 🗑 too many new products come out constantly 😮
You might be olive. Dior makes olive shades.
I love Tower 28. Maybe don’t wear so much and it would look better?
Yes - but then you won't get enough sun protection. As they market the product as a sunscreen - it's a fail. As something over sunscreen - it's nice - and a great color for me!
Hı
Thank you for reviewing the higher end foundation. So tired of viewing drug store, cheap makeup. So many are made in China.
You're so welcome!
Thanks for great video. I love the rituel and told the co. that you recommended it. I have a KA bronzer in medium that’s my fav. 🪭
So glad you love the Rituel! KA is so hard to find in store these days - but their contour powder said to be really good too
